BÖC was founded in1967, a year before Deep Purple, under the name of Soft White Underbelly that was changed 1971 to BÖC. Their first record came out in 1972 titled Blue Öyster Cult

The Grim Reaper is probably because "Don't Fear the Reaper" is their biggest hit and a lot of their songs question the nature of death/rebirth.
Astronomy is about an immortal (made immortal by aliens from sirius) who encounters two women at a beachfront bar at midnight. They're looking for where the winds come from and one of them finds a map behind the clock at the four winds bar.
"But it's never said at all, on the map that carrie reads, behind the clock back there you know, at the four winds bar."
It's a better song if u know what it's about... Also BOC songs are just an excuse to listen to Buck Dharma play guitar!

Checkout the live version of Then Came The Last Days Of May from their live album On Your Feet Or On Your Knees. Song is based on a true story of a drug deal gone bad. Great guitar solo in this version.

Three original members have sung this song on studio albums. Eric Bloom was first from 1974's Secret Treaties. Buck Dharma on 1988's Imaginos. Albert Bouchard on 2020's Re-Imaginos. Alberts brother Joe has only sung it live. Eric sings it the best even though he sings the wrong lyrics. He sings, "Four winds at the Four Winds bar." It is supposed to be, "Four doors at the Four Winds bar."

Please, just call me dave! And yeah, I'm a big fan of BOC and Buck Dharma (lead guitar) specifically!

Sorry, Don Roeser is in fact a legendary guitarist, no less so than Eric Clapton. Your opinion is your own, I respect that, however many of the 70s best would not hesitate to agree with me.
Keep up the reaction to great music! 👍🏻💪🏻

Buck Dharma is very underrated but for me is the best rock guitar player of the seventies, his sense of melody is unrival. No one can generate so many emotions in a solo

Should've done the original, studio version from their 1974 release, "Secret Treaties". Much more.......cerebral.

David likes the live version. I hate the piano-centric version. Plus there's no lead solo. He does his reactions for patrons so that's how you can get him to compare them...

I always liked the remake version of “Astronomy” they did for the “Imaginos” album. May be because I heard it before the original. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/SY7h4VEd_Wk/w-d-xo.html
