    I’d easily have this over the 911. So much more character, more exotic looking, much better sounding.

      Rear quarter view says otherwise, to the untrained eye you'd struggle to separate the two cars:
      www.flickr.com/photos/19bozzy92/23688558051/
      The GT is not even classified as an exotic to begin with.

      @@Alby911 huh? Neither is the 911 Turbo. Most reviewers call the AMG GTR/GTC a super car and compare it to a 911 GT3/GT3 Touring. Schmee had both. Guess which one he sold?? (Hint: the manufacturer starts with a P).

    • @Alby911
      @Alby911 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Fluterra The OP described the the AMG as much more exotic; which really isn't the case. Aside from the longer front end of the AMG, the silhouette is similar. Exotic is reserved for the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini. I'm not sure what relevance Schmee has in this topic; is he some sort of 'be all and end all' when it come to cars?

      @@Alby911 the thing is this is a GTC, which at the rear is a whole 3 inches wider. And believe be in person, the rest of the GTC looks absolutely wicked. GTC also gets an electronic limited slip diff, and 4 wheel steering, the latter of which the GT S and GT don’t have.

    Excellent video! I really love the styling of the AMG GT. That long hood has such a striking initial impression!
    Also, I agree with what you're saying about the center console technology updates. While they may be super cool to show off to your passengers, there is less of that tactile feel (which entices you to glance at the center console to ensure you selected the correct thing).
    All in all, GREAT video of an awesome car. Very entertaining and informative. Well done!

    Last month I drove an AMG GT C and a 911 991.2 back to back along some mountain roads (Colorado).. About 30 miles in each car... I thought the AMG was great .. 'til I drove the 911. The AMG felt like I was driving in the back seat, way too much hood in front. AMG handling was numb and the car felt heavy compared to the 911 and very claustrophobic interior compared to the 911. I'd really never spent much time in a 911 and was so impressed! I think Mercedes has a looong way to go.

    Mercedes is starting to design attractive cars again. Why does this 4.0 TT V8 have only 502 lb/ft of torque? I know these engineers are great at maxing out power for a given displacement. That number seems low for the size. I wonder if they are purposely dialing back the power for some reason.

    But MB gauges and switches are so cool ... if poor ergonomic design.
    BMW on the other hand is "boring" because they nailed good ergonomic cabin instrument layout decades ago and only refine it slightly every couple of years. BMW does not change it for mere fashion or video game parlor appeal. It always has to help with driving while the driver is in motion and looking at the road.

    • @timonxDlol
      @timonxDlol 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timothysmith7478 Well the funny thing is mainly in less snowy areas 4wd cars are bought and in more snowy areas more people drive 2wd cars. in 99% of the cases you easily get along with rwd in the winter. I also live somewhere snowy and I dont see a need for a 4wd even though we have one (one e coupe rwd and one glc 4wd). The 4wd accelerates better on snow, but once you hit a corner or have to brake they all behave the same. So for me it makes no real difference, because cornering and braking is the real problem. And if the weather is so bad that you cant drive with a 2wd car then you also cant really drive with a 4wd car. Thats my experience so far. And to be serious the amg gt is not thought as the customer´s only car and mainly performance oriented, even though it´s still luxorious and usable as a daily. I actually see quite a few driving around here near Stuttgart in Germany. Also during winter.

I wonder once Tesla interior begins really catching up with legacy brands (which given it's Bauhaus minimalist design language ethic- it may not ever fully intend to do so in terms of buttons and actual leather etc) what then will Legacy fanboys complain of whilst Tesla literally will not only outhandle, outpace them, cost about 1/3rd to 1/2 to operate, AND be able to drive them anywhere legal and common? By the way FWIW I am not a Tesla worshiper by any means. Many other legacy manufacturers are clearly going EV and not looking back very much. Great attempt to divert attention to a problem that is so isolated and somewhat unclear to all the telemetry and Tesla systems internal data for the car involved with Motoman. New 911 is stunning and would most likely destroy this merc on the track, not sure what you're on about

      @@sirgeorgioalastrata4104 nonsense. The new 911 is just as but now and vaping and boring as the 911 has been for 30 years. Who cares about how quick a car is on a racetrack? How often is the average owner going to go to a race track? The answer is never. Who cares if a car is a half a second quicker to 60 miles per hour? How often is the average owner going to gun the car like that? The answer is not often. 0 to 60 is a stupid antiquated test. Which car would a person rather have in their driveway? The rare and beautiful Mercedes or the common and Antiquated and banal and ubiquitous 911? The answer is obvious.

      Uh uh uh . . . About that 'drives itself' bit. Repeat after me: 'There is no such thing as a self driving car'. Should have any complaints, speak to these guys: www.sae.org/news/press-room/2018/12/sae-international-releases-updated-visual-chart-for-its-%E2%80%9Clevels-of-driving-automation%E2%80%9D-standard-for-self-driving-vehicles

      Another Tesla guy...it overheats if you romp on it, real leather is no longer an option, you must find a V3 charging station or wait hours to "fuel" up, interior is government issue...I have no idea why anyone would want one of these vacuum cleaners simply because they are fast in a straight line but have the personality of drywall.
