Hi Daphne. I’m working on a confetti heavy canvas and am loving it! I’m so focused on placing my drills, I don’t even think about the size of the canvas (90x35). And when I complete a section it’s so satisfying to step back and admire. It’s so different from the DAC canvases I’ve worked, this canvas is from Oraloa - my only Oraloa - and now I want more. Variety is the spice of life! Ps. I’m using the bumper car method. I’ve had as many as 12 trays scattered on my working surface. It looks like a major traffic jam, but it works for me.
I am working on The Kiss by Klimt. I think it has 94 colors on a not all that large canvas (40X50), so very confetti heavy. This was the first part of a goal I set for myself, choosing kits with more than 78 colors (E. Ward containers). I am thoroughly enjoying all the changes and gorgeous colors. This video was extremely helpful as it taught me some new things and confirmed my own choices that I've already tried. So, as usual, thank you.
Thanks for sharing those great tips! ❤ They will be helpful when I finally get ready to do my cross stitch conversion from HAED. I’m looking forward to the challenge of using pattern keeper. I just have to source all my drills.
Thank y, Daphne, for these interesting tips! I did one JW with 225 colours. I also used these bottles, sorted by colour. As you so often only need a few drills, I just poured some into the lid and picked them up from there. I always go through my containers from left Up to bottom right, you nearly need all of them for a section anyway. Fortunately, one gets used to these symbols rather quickly. Even though I hated those blue angles 🥴 One thing I find very important and that is not to turn your canvas. You might get easily confused with all those arrows and angles. Normally I work sideways on a landscape, but not on these. Wish you lots of fun with this kid and probably I will pull out one of my JWs as well 😂 ❤❤
I find it easier to turn my canvas - I just make sure to orient the symbols on the bottle tops the same way so that I don’t get confused. My arms aren’t long enough if I don’t turn it!! 😂 Thanks for watching!!
I'm seeing this 14hrs later but this helped me a lot because i get overwhelmed really easy so i appreciate this video a lot. I'm so glad i been watching your videos for a while. i love how patient you are with explaining.
Hey there. I am not sure how I missed this video, but I’m catching up. On the “spear fishing” I do that too. I even do it when I only have 2 or 3. When I work on heavy confetti I use the cheap trays that come in the budget kits. Once I use a color I place the container in the little tray, with a few sprinkled in it so I have it quick access to the ones I missed. I get really aggravated at myself for missing one. It seems like I just put the color up and I’ll find a missed one. To me, keeping the opened/already used one out and accessible keeps me from feeling so frustrated. It’s still out and ready to grab. I hope that makes sense. Thank You for the video. I almost always learn something new or get great ideas and tips. Blessings ❤
OMG, this section is intimidating me, and I am not doing this canvas. I do have few painting with 200 colors and always want to get a JW one, but maybe later on when I have new space when we move. Thank you for the video, it was informative and supportive. Will follow up on your progress.👀
This isn’t even the worst of the confetti! 😂 It’s like any other big project - working in small pieces is much easier than focusing on the whole. Thanks for watching!!
Helpful! Another question I have is just how to get at the sections of large a canvas. I’m doing the DAC husky head. It’s my biggest project to date. I’ve been doing this 5’months. And working the middle sections are awkward at best. I’m at “row” three.
New sub 🎉. This video was super helpful. A lot of the art I love I have been afraid to do because of the confetti. This has made me decide to go ahead and get one I have really been wanting, Moon Goddess by DAC.
hello daphney good idea i have same issue with some of my hinkler create diamond paintings like the drill is the correct collour but looks totally diffrent on the actual canvas i do that too with spear fishing so much easier then sifting through drills that are all mixed in the trash jar
Good morning Daphne! Someday I hope to DP a Josephine Wall picture. I've just done small paintings with confetti & I love it. Thank you for the tips. Daphne do you sell cover minders or stickers with your LOGO? Would love to purchase. Have a great weekend!
You were right, the metal tips are absolute must have, but for gods sake how do you convince the glue dot to sta in the tip? And please how is the tape you please on the sticky sides called?
@@BJKage If you used wax in the tips previously, clean them out with alcohol to remove any leftover residue that is causing the glue dots not to stick. The tape on the sides is called washi tape. Thanks for watching!!
Excellent video. I will watch it a few more times! I really want to kit up my JWall by DMC. I know you commented on it but can you go over it again? Why would I not want to do it that way? It’s how my brain works. And you said do what works for us. Idk-I feel like the JWall police will come for me if I kit up by DMC😂😂😂
Mine are in DMC order so it’s all good! There are a lot of similar symbols with 100+ colors, so grouping like symbols might be helpful to avoid confusion. Good luck!
@@Karen-xx1cz Confetti is when a section of the painting has a lot of different colors within it, as opposed to color blocking, where there is a large section/block of one color.
@@DiamondPaintingAnonymous thank you for replying so quickly. I figured it out once you got into that real light pink area of her dress. You said "confetti or many colors" in your dialogue. I'm watching you very deliberately and intensely on my cell phone as I do not have a computer... I'm very glad I did have I have a difficult time staying focused on a symbol. My eyes actually flutter ..
Great video but you obviously don't have two cats who like to knock over/stomp on everything! Furry monsters. How do you get that clicking noise when you place your drills?
I don’t have animals atm, true. But I am plenty clumsy myself, which is why I said that having trays spread out everywhere wouldn’t work for me. 😂 The clicking sound is because I use glue dots instead of wax in my single placers. Thanks for watching!!

I love Oraloa! I’ve seen pics of the multiple trays - I just know I would have drills everywhere with my uncoordinated elbows!! 😂
