  • Alongside the EV-swap and the body-swap, I want to upgrade the sound system in my Z3. My car came with the most basic sound system, and really lacks bass. So when I broken sub for the car came up on eBay for £30, it seemed like a good option. Of course at this price, it was totally broken, so I set about repairing it, using my Creality Lizard 3D scanner, Fusion 360, and my 3D printer(s).

Great work. I also appreciate that you are doing things in a budget friendly way. A lot of TH-camrs seem to be able to throw money at things. Entertaining but you are more realistic. 👍

Hey great to see you back your videos seems to have stopped for a while and I just noticed that you have done a few that did not come up in my feed. I will need to catch up now 😃

Yep! Had a largely work-enforced break but back to it now.

@@EVDIY Yes I know, unfortunately the day job does exists for most of us. 😂

I'm hoping to put an Android head unit in my EV conversion (when I finally get it completed) so will probably have to replace rotten speakers too so I'd be interested to hear your experience of the amp and bass box.
With no engine noise to drown out all the squeaks and rattles I'll need a decent sound system. 😉

I looked at a lot of second hand amps which was my alternative. But that AliExpress one was so cheap I figured it was worth experimenting with. Unfortunately the head unit won't be so cheap!

You know you can refurb and upgrade a blown paper subwoofer very cheaply and quite easily. Would have saved a lot of time.

I don't know. The replacement unit is much more robust and it was pretty quick knocking up those brackets.

Good question! Honestly I've no idea until I start trying to fit it.

Possible to 3D print a lid for the subwoofer enclosure lid? Because mine shattered into a billion pieces 😭

Probably have to be in a couple of pieces unless you have a very large printer!

Not yet! I'll do one on the install video. Just not sure which car to stick it in yet and I still need to get the EV home!
