I love this because it's so real and deep. Marriage is complicated. Like always being close to a cliff. You can easily push your spouse over it or hold their hand and carefully, lovingly walk alongside them.
I am photographer transitioning into film making and I have watched this about a dozen times. I love the drama... the cinematic feel... the emotional engagements from start to finish. I have showed me friends this exact video and 8-10 of them started to cry. You guys are a inspiration!

Overall its a wonderful video. However, there are moments that have been beautifully captured and to name a few when bride and groom hug each other and the groom says wonderful, when they are seen walking hand in hand and the shot has been taken with a drone. Loved it.

Lovely Film! How do you convince the couple to take time for videography? Usually couples are in a rush to do other things during the wedding day other than Photo & Video.
Most of our couples really value their film. These two didn't even have a photographer, they just wanted us there. If you have a situation where there is little time, one thing I suggest is to pre-plan a shot. Step away, find a cool composition and mentally place the couple inside of the it. Then go ask if you can borrow them for a minute. You'll get a great shot and it won't take much time. Some of my favorite shots are done this way. -Matt

Marvels Cine is our profile for all canon DSLR. It's a nice flat profile without going too flat for 8 bit color. I'm working on a set of LUTs and plan on adding the one from this wedding. I may even include the resolve power grades as well. It's a complicated grade. Hope that helps -Matt
This is breathtaking indeed ,question How much do you put in planning the shots looking at the fact that things happen at weddings that are not even planned , how do you manage that?

There's not a lot of planning that can be done, but you can pre-visualise some things, and the improvise from there. For example the first look : We had a two hour drive to the ceremony, and they wanted to spend it together, so we needed to do a first look within the first 20 minutes of the trip. I was able to find that spot on google earth using street view, and I had the wide shot with the mountains in my head before we arrived. For other things, like the picnic, we just had to go and find a nice spot, so no planning before hand at all, same for the title shot with them on the mossy rocks. They literally pulled over and hopped out for a quick cell phone pic and I was like "stay there!" I couldn't have planned a better shot, and it was all part of the adventure. Hope that helps -Matt

Very beautiful and amazing film work. Do you do a lot of shots on tripod? Or just have the most steady hands in the history of human kind?
Hey Alex, thanks so much. The only tripod shot is the bride angle and wide during the ceremony. For the prep shots that are locked off, I let the Manfrotto monopod stand on its own, and Pacey used the Siuri monopod for the groom prep/shaving. I love the look of solid compositions that don't move, especially when it fits the tone and mood of the story. So we both went into the prep shoots going for that look. -Matt

Okay I'm 3 years too late with this comment. I have won numerous Emmys with even more nominations, and a ton of other local and national awards. I came across this video by chance. It is nothing short of fantastic. Stunning cinematic visuals that flowed with ease with each changing scene. Like an old fashioned quilt stitched together with a purpose and with love. This is storytelling at it's best. Forget what I've accomplished in my life. When I grow up I want to create movies like this. Great work.

It's Marvels Cine. Which is the neutral profile with a slight bump in the shadows.
@@thefilmpoets Sweet. Have you ever compared it with James Miller log?. I have James Miller log but sometimes it just destroys body colors.
@@matasdauginis I despise fake C-log profiles for that reason. They are no different than if you sent me some footage and I put a really flat curve on it and sent it back to you. You gain no dynamic range, but you lose some color information because of the lack of midtone contrast. Downsides with no upsides. -Matt

Really awesome film and loved the edit! I’ve just got a 1dxii and just starting to shoot weddings. I was wondering do you tend to always shoot at 4K 24fps with the 1dxii? I’m torn between the quality of the 4K vs the creamy 120fps slow motion!? Just wanted to see if you wouldn’t mind telling me what you recommend/prefer?

It's not either or. We'll shoot 4k for a wedding and then flip to 120fps for parts that we'll want to slow down. Then just upscale the 1080p in the edit. The mexico wedding has a lot of 120fps mixed with 4k. This one has none. -Matt
