Floyd was an absolute genuis, his relaxed style of cooking was always a treat to watch and he was held in high regard by all chef's in the UK right up until his death.
Floyd really was the OG, so to speak. Cooks & chefs on TV predated him of course. Julia Child and Graham Kerr come to mind. With all due respect to them, and to other contemporaries, it was Floyd who turned a cooking lesson into a conversation, naturally engaging and still elegant.
Marco Pierre White is a 3-Michelin star chef...Keith Floyd was a notoriously bad businessman....I think all his restaurants/pubs when into receivership.
He was a showman in front of the camera, charismatic and rumbustious, however, behind it the camera, he was not a likable person to work with at all, could not keep the staff. Keith was a regular face to see in Dartmouth in the 80's, he regularly did business with the local fruit and veg shop of which the owner used to dread the days he'd turn up. He'd never pay his bills on time and, if I remember correctly, left a huge amount of debt behind him after his death.
@lovabelly unfortunately yes, in 2009. He had a list of hit TV programs starting with the BBC back in the 80's, then later on sky. He was the first ever chef to go out and about, I loved watching his programs.
Lee Bell indeed he did...he nicked my uncle Graham’s bird in the late 60s/early 70s. But then, in those days, I don’t think anyone really noticed who was doing who
Delicious. Give it a try. You'll not be disappointed. Dude is true to the craft, unlike all the posers now on TV, seeking fame not giving a damn about taste (literally).
Floyd was the greatest. Never took himself too seriously. No ego unlike the psychopaths currently screaming at the preps in the kitchen. So entertaining though.
There was only one of this guy ! Missed because the state of broadcasting and bbc programming - went rapidly dowmhill after this period in time. It's always been bloody awful Tavistock Institute programming, but now the ART has beem systematically stripped out - nothing left..
BBC use to make quality cooking shows in the 70s & 80s, sadly no longer in 2023. That last part of offering a kiss or/and mussels would get one labelled as such&such in this days and age.

The incomparable Keith Floyd.
Superb cook, natural entertainer and genuine character.
This guy is the best at teaching. He predicted that i wasn't paying " proper attention" too lol

He was a lush and a bit of a cad, but he certainly was entertaining and informative.

@@theglumrant9477 Keith did the same to mine --- reckon that makes us cousins!
Alekas_Attic he had a flat in High Kingsdown which was a real den of iniquity. I now let it out to student doctors

“I’m cooking” is the implied reason for sipping in wine In the kitchen. No further reason required. Don’t like it? Make your own supper.
"That was one for the queen!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That was a big kiss
Kissed and cooked both well !
Great kisser too.
Purple Aki would be salivating
How on earth did you manage to fit Purple Aki into a vintage Keith Floyd clip??
One for the queen.....Only an English convict would get that.
