    Thank you so much, Flo Chinyere, for all things that you do. I am an American with both IGBOS parents, living in the United States. My parents has six boys and one girl. My mom thought us how to cook IGBO foods. My mom, do not care of her boys are physicians, pharmacists, engineers, software developers, etc! We have to cook and complements each other. My parents are no longer here in this physical earth! However, your videos has been a good refence point in cooking various IGBO foods. Again, THANK YOU!

    Good job Aunty Flo, except that I'm among the school of thought that prefer washing vegetables before cutting and not the other way round, because by so doing there wouldn't be any lose/wastage of the minerals and vitamins from the veges.

    • @uyiasode2343
      @uyiasode2343 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Vegetables are packed with so much vitamins, most of them that we eat, the body does not use them up, we end up passing it away through faeces. So cutting before washing does not deprive us of any nutrient.

    • @mama3geestv
      @mama3geestv 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@uyiasode2343 My dear try and update your self scientific wise so as to correct your self, because most cases we end up eating nothing but chaffs but if that's the way you prefer it no 'quams' is up to you but know it that the STANDARD approach to it "IS WASH YOUR VEGES BEFORE CUTTING"

    • @staralert2994
      @staralert2994 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I have used this vegetable and once water touch it, you can't cut it. She said it has slip in the video and cutting it first is more efficient for her. If you follow her well you will know that she wash her vegetables before cutting. Watch her video where she prepared her vegetables from nigerian before putting them in the freezer.

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Star Alert you are absolutely correct, I am a serious advocate of wash veggies before slicing. But this vegetable? It's even dangerous to try to slice it when wet because the knife will be slipping off the vegetables and may cut one's finger in the process. I should have made that emphasis in the video. Also if you look at the pack when I showed it at the supermarket, it says "lavado" which means "washed" so one can decide to slice and use it without washing again. I wash all my vegetables including the ones they say are already washed but slicing this particular vegetable when it is wet is sometime I will never try again. I don't have the time to wash and keep them to dry again either.

    Well done Flo, my observation with the stock water,you could have kept it in the freezer to use for ogbonno or egusi instead of boiling down.
    These are my personal preferences below;
    I use kitchen scissors to cut my steamed vegetables .
    I also prewashed my fresh vegetables before cutting.
    I also add my meats to cook in the stew before adding vegetables to allow it to season well.
    I add my vegetables last.
    I am also not a friend of excess palm oil ,so l sparingly use it in my cooking.
    Thank you for your efforts.You are a star.

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We sure all have our own ways of cooking but you see that "saving" of stock? Please stop that practice, I take God beg you. By "saving" some of the stock you are depleting the full flavour that should have gone into the vegetable soup. The egusi and ogbono soups you will cook in the future will those soups not come with their own meat and fish? This is a common mistake people make in cooking and later they will be wondering why their meals do not taste as great as it should. In fact if you have any saved stock, you should be adding it to this Vegetable Soup instead of taking its own stock away.
      What is wrong with boiling down the stock? Boiling down stock is simple evaporation and ONLY WATER leaves the solution by evaporation. Boiling down stock does not "waste" the stock in any way as lots of comments here are insinuating. Is it only those that studied Chemistry that understand this simple subject of concentrations in liquids? Chai o!

    • @happychild530
      @happychild530 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FloChinyere you have just lectured me evaporation process. Pardon my ignorance. I was a very poor science student back in the days that's why l chose law.

    Kai Flo what can i do without you, only you saving lives since 1900, i live in the uk and have been cooking rubbish watery vegetable soup since cos of wrong use of the leaves, i am just learning about the frozen spinach(I used to use the fresh ones) and lambs lettuce. I just checked now and my local Asda has it. God contunue to bless you for us Flo.

    • @alwaysrossy4023

      Juliet T you can also use the fresh one by steaming it up in a dry pot then drain the water out

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bless you too my sister. I am glad we are all learning. You can also prepare it with fresh spinach by blanching it first like Rosita wrote but I do not bother using fresh spinach for this soup because that will be lots and lots of vegetables and fresh spinach is very expensive here. I showed in one of my recent vlogs how expensive a small bag of fresh spinach is. For me to buy the quantity of fresh spinach equivalent to the 2 kilos of frozen spinach I used in this video, we will be talking about €30 worth of spinach but these two bags of frozen spinach cost less than €3.

    This is exactly how I cook my veg. soup except that I don't use lamb lettuce . I remember the first time I prepared it here in the UK. It turned out to "river niger soup". lol madam you no go kill me with your funny expressions. Anyway love watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
