@john-tr8jy you have a point 👉🏽 bro, however I think that intelligence 🧠 can't be undervalued, and in having courage one should be patient too and here lies wisdom👌🏽
In Nigeria, minds like Kelvin may be like a drop 💧 in the ocean 🌊 but without this drop the ocean is never the same.
Those who think differently from us should be won over by a stronger and convincing argument and not by violence.
Violence can only breed more violence, Nigerians can testify.

There has to be Nigerians before they can protest for matters concerning Nigeria! From the president to the "smallest" person, we don't have a single patriotic Nigerian! One of the major takeaways from Kevin is the fact that: "the national debate in Nigeria is so shallow and mundane". And I strongly agree with him.
Nigerians have been so famished, with hunger depraviation weaponized against them, such that things that matter most to the citizens are inanne and irrelevant issues. Little wonder the political ruining class always could always have their way, knowing the masses are chaff: just give them rice, and distract them, and you have a till at the commonwealth without restrain.

Thank you Mr kelvin for this great submission. In addition to your points, I will like posit that the National Assembly should review and update the laws for estabilshing a sea port in Nigeria to accomodate 100% ownership of any new ports by private organizations, state governments,
local governments who may have the camparative advantage and resources to do so. A miopic mind would think Lagos would lose revenue to other new ports, but a visionary mind would realize that Lagos will make much more money if congestion is eliminated ( via routing to other ports in other states) when importers and manufacturers productivities increase due to fast turn around of shipments in and out. And most importantly, due to the new HIGH EFFICIENCY , ease of container processing and strategic location of decongested Lagos Ports, It could become a defacto hub for West and Central Africa for enhanced and cost effective ship to ship transfer. (especially for countries with shallow ports which constitute more than 85% of subsaharan africa sea ports. Again this new efficiency would birth mega intra african shipping and hence intra africa mega trade.
FYI, the United States has well over 300 sea ports owned by numerous entites: federal governement, state governments, local governments and private corporation and individuals.

States embark on constructing Airports, why can't South South States embark on such a lucrative project? Why blaming the Federal Government for any lack of commitment from duly elected Governors? @@stephensopulu3645 I don’t align with the constant conspiracy theories about the marginalization of the Southeast being widely circulated. Every region or state has its own leaders-governors, representatives, senators, local government chairpersons, and traditional leaders-who are responsible for representing and advocating for their people. The failures of these leaders should not always be attributed solely to the presidency.
For instance, consider the conflict between President Obasanjo's Federal Government and Lagos State under Governor Tinubu during the creation of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). Despite federal opposition, the governor stood his ground and pursued the development of his state.
We need to start holding our local and state leaders accountable rather than placing all the blame on the president. Every region deserves proper representation and promotion.
What Kelvin is doing is commendable, and similar advocacy should be encouraged across all regions.

Bruv, Calabar may have been whatever. But it ceased to be so when the locals'/indigenese acting under the tutelage of Fulanis and Yorubas closed the port to Ibo use. They claimed that Ibos were out to seize Calabar and rename it "New Onitsha". They became resentful and hostile which led to the exodus of Ibos who constitute the vast majority of importers and port users.
Not only was Calabar port rendered unviable but Calabar city itself which had Ibos constituting over 50% of its population lost its vibrancy despite its serene ambience. This is also the reason for the failure of the Tinapa business resort idea- Ibos were simply not interested.
Sometime ago, an attempt was made to revive the Calabar port by designating it a hub for the importation of used cars, but this idea also failed. Why? Because the vast majority of importers were Ibo and car importation is not a charity. Hell will freeze over before a Yorubaman will ship his car or anything to Calabar as long as Lagos exists. It is said that over 65% of imported goods to Nigeria are Ibo-owned. So Ibos imported convoys of used cars to Calabar and evacuated them to Iboland- Onitsha, Aba, Umuahia, Enugu, Awka, Asaba etc.
Given that ordinary port workers like cleaners, clerks etc are poor locals, soon this sparked resentment among indigenes leading to the re-emergence of "Ibo domination" chant. The same thing will apply to Warri and all such so- called ports.
Therefore, right now, the only viable port outside Lagos is Port Harcourt simply because it is located in Iboland. If the locals/indigenes see outsiders importing goods and making money in PH, they would want to become apprentices, learn the trade and start their own import business, not just seethe with resentment about Ibo take over and all that crap.
      Got it?

Thank you, Kelvin, for raising these salient points about the inequality in our national economy structure. It is hard to convince anyone that there is no wicked conspiracy between the North and West to marginalise the East. The worst is that the combination of South South and South East governors have remained silent rather than pressure the Federal Government and the National Assembly to restructure the geopolitical distribution of our national economy in a way that galvanise the other regions to develop economically alongside Lagos State. I blame Goodluck Jonathan for lacking the vision, wisdom and courage to redress this entrenched problem in his time as Nigeria's president. It is long overdue to develop and decentralise our seaport infrastructure to offer economic opportunities for growth to states in the South East and South South corridors. That is what will bring all-round development to Nigeria and decongest Lagos eventually to enable the state grow without the pressure of heavy traffic and population. Someone must speak truth to power. This economic and infrastructural plan is more strategically rewarding and viable than the overbloated Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway project.

I'm against any tax on Nigerians that doesn't include swift and severe punishment for misappropriation of public funds. What use is it to raise money if we can't safeguard it?
The money pot is drying and the rotten politicians are now scrambling all over the place to replenish their "feeding bottle."
In order to be stupendously rich in Nigeria, you don't have to create any product or provide any service, just become a politician. In the US and elsewhere, your representative comes out to fight for you if you alert him or her of any verifiable injustice you're facing. Now, tell me, who's Mr Farotimi, SAN's representative? If he has one, he's likely teamed up with Afe, Tinumbu, and other terrible people who are out to shut Mr Farotimi, SAN up.
Again, I'm absolutely against any taxation in Nigeria if there are no swift and harsh punishment for anyone stealing government funds. Let stealing of government funds be tried by a jury of regular Nigerian citizens, not by any judge. Appeals should be to another jury of regular citizens. Our law schools have proven that they are not capable of producing people with high moral standards.

Nigerians do not want to face reality. The most significant reform in Nigeria should be returning to regionalism. Regionalism was how Nigeria became independent. Even the British Colonial government realised that Nigeria had to be a federation. 1966 was when they destroyed the federation through centralised control of the country's resources.
There are no federating units properly so-called if they all go cap in hand to the federal government to collect money.
There is a reason for sustaining this centralised arrangement.
