1870 was also when France got absolutely annihilated by Prussia and the Southern German States. Soooo Prussia (or whatever Germany is called in the pokemon world) Canonically exists.

this looks like the near future. That’s Clemont’s Lumiose tower, not to mention there’s a ton of new large bridges & the plaza’s are full on parks. For Pokémon at least, it wouldn’t make sense for a city to devolve & have less in it if this were a game set in the past.
I thought this too but the blueprints have pictures of women in baseball caps and a little girl wearing a jacket so i think it's in the future. Also considering they showcased a futuristic concept, i think it's definitely set in the future

I was upset that we didn't get a story during the Kalos War, but then again, the war ended with a nuclear detonation and the deaths of billions, so that may be too dark...

I do think in the near future it could be a R rated/NC-17 type of film, much like what Platoon did for the Vietnam War that Oliver Stone directed back in 1985. So I do think that the Pokemon War could have been inspired by both World War II AND The Vietnam War between 1940 and 1970.

Pokémon Y was the 3rd Pokémon game I’ve ever played and the fact we are skipping Unova momentarily is fine bc I love Kalos it’s my 2nd favorite region. The fact we are getting a legends game for Kalos is amazing the potential of elaborating more on the lore, the life trio, and the mythicals will most definitely be there. The return of megas is so exciting and getting potentially new megas is so exciting. I really hope the game isn’t just in Lumiose bc I want to explore Kalos during the 1800’s. I bet there will be other established towns or cities since Lumiose is already advanced for the time era we will be in. Hoping AZ does show up and we catch a glimpse of eternal flower floette. Wonder if there will be a surprise villain, new forms like Hisuian forms but for Kalos, a new legendary like they did with enamorus to an established trio. Ugh just so excited and we will see more ancestors to established characters too. Could y’all imagine if Volo traveled to Kalos and we see him in Pokémon Z.

What are your thoughts if they choose to skip unova permanently? I personally wouldn't mind since I can't see them topping BW/BW2. I would rather them add ports in the future.

That's why it's called Pokemon Legends Z-A because its usually takes place before the original game comes up. The holographic presentation is just a blueprint for redeveloping the urbanize Lumiose City. The key words here we know it's before XY is the "A Vision of beautiful coexistence between people and Pokemon..." means that there are still conflict with the relationship if pokemon and humans. Modern eras are now getting along with pokemon but here it's to coexist. Also not a coincidence that they choose Kalos after Paldea because Paldea is a representation of Spain so it's near France which Kalos is based on. Not gonna be surprised if they mentioned Paldea and Galar (representation of UK) because they were in war before.
actually Paris, France got a redevelopment plan in the 1850s like literally they demolished many buildings and ended the redevelopment plan by 1889 by finishing the Eiffel Tower last. It's possible for a future Kalos but it wouldn't feel like Legends if it's like that to be honest.

No, it wouldn’t make sense because of all the new bridges & giant plazas that we see in the trailer. & that’s Clemont’s Lumiose Tower. You’re doing a lot of assuming.
@@braydenleaderofthetirkins1143 you can think it's impossible but we can also think like the Eiffel Tower maybe Clemont's ancestors are handling it before and remodeling it into XY's original Lumiose City's tower.
@@senpaitsuy I agree. While Prism Tower looks pretty modern, I can believe that the Pokemon world is technologically advanced enough to construct some version of it even if it's ~150-200 years ago. As for the new bridges and giant plazas, I assume the city is just being scaled up and revamped since we're on new hardware that can handle it. Especially with the way Hisui didn't perfectly line up with modern day Sinnoh, I think these are reasonable assumptions.
Except you can tell from the trailer, that its specifically about humans living along side wild pokemon within the city
Yet in modern day XY that is clearly NOT the case, so either the plan failed or this has to be in the future.
I'm torn on if I think this is gonna take place in the past or not. I don't think the choice to show the city through a wireframes or a hologram was one made without reason. After all, the holocaster was a part of X&Y's story, and was a relatively recent invention by Lysandre's company. I feel like if this is in the past, it's not that far back, maybe a decade or 2 removed from the events of X&Y. The hologram visuals tied with the wording "A vision of a *beautiful* coexistence between people and Pokemon" makes me think that maybe Lysandre and his company were a big part of Lumiose's reurbanization project. We know that Lysandre did a lot of good prior to going off the deep end, so I don't think it's a stretch that he would've helped funded, or even designed Lumiose City as we know it today. I think the thing that throws me off a bit though is that we see a lot of areas that aren't in the original game. Like, maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't remember there being a waterway with a bridge going over it in XY. I could just be overthinking things though. Regardless, I'm so hyped for this game. Glad they're not rushing it out this year. Hopefully it's not an early release next year like how PLA released in January. I don't mind waiting as long as I need to for this to release in the best possible state.
Completely agree. My first thought was that it was a sequel, from the futuristic imaging, but context leads more into the past. Really conflicting messaging, regardless, I'm hyped.

Given Legends Arceus had the Cyllene and the Galaxy Team as good counterparts of their descendants Cyrus and Team Galactic, it makes sense that we could have a good version of Lysandre and Team Flare, whether that be through Lysandre before going evil or one of his ancestors

So here’s a thing that’s interesting. It’s not an Urban development plan. It’s an urban REdevelopment plan. Which means that there is potential that this isn’t in the past. This is an urban legend about Zygarde and current day Lumiose is being redeveloped into a more Pokémon-friendly walkable environment.
It’s possible the game is about cataloguing the environments Pokémon live in as they move into the city

I’m definitely eager to get more details about the location. I hope it’s not literally all contained in Lumiose city, but I’m also curious to see what they have planned if that’s the case. I’ll withhold my judgement until we learn more
If you check Nintendo's pinned tweet right now, they explicitly state the adventure is "set entirely within Lumiose City". I'm curious too

They can't destroy Gen 5, so I am happy Gamefreak skip Black and White for Gen 6. Nobody cares about Gen 6, so the damage is little when its bad.

But semi jokes aside, another take could be that this take place in a future and Lumiouse City is urbanizing even further, so as the player may have to strike a balance between progress and keeping the city hospitable for pokemon (and dont anger Zygarde or else he will nuke us)

I think Area Zero is crater of ultimate weapon. Also, I think the war 3000 years ago is Paldean-Kalos war. The ultimate weapon has very very similar texture to Terastal. War between Kalos and Paldea makes sense because Spain and France are neighbors fought a lot with each other (Napoleon War etc). Also if you look at the map of Paldea, you will see the north eastern part of it is connected to land, but not ocean. That's maybe Kalos and it is exactly same position of real life Spain and France.
Where the terastal came from and what the source of its power is is not entirely clear. And this theory can explain almost everything about terastal and Area Zero. Furthermore, Galar, Kalos and Paldea are the only three regions which have gimmicks that change Pokémon.(Z-Move of Alola doesn't change Pokemon) England, France, Spain is neighbors, so these three regions might be neighbor too. And Mega Evolution, Dynamax, Terastal might be connected to each other.
Someone will say "there is a mention which says Area Zero existed over million years ago". But, Units as large as one million years are probably the result of geological dating rather than historical records. Therefore, Area Zero may have been a mountain before it was hit by AZ's weapon and a hole was created. Also, every record of Area Zero is later than 3000 yrs ago. In history class, it is said that the first exploration of Area Zero occurred 2,000 years ago. So it makes sense.
Considering what the game tells us of Area Zero, I really doubt its a result of AZ's ultimate weapon. Area zero was formed 3 million years ago, so it would had been there eons before the great war between Kalos and X region raged 3000 years ago
The fact the weapon is crystalline can be easily explained by it being made of the crystals of reflective cave, something more likely considering the ultimate weapon is reflective
The source of the Terastal phenomeno is terapagos, something left very clear post indigo disk, while Dynamax is related to the arival of Eternatus, so that discards any connection to mega evolution at all, specially since Dynamax and the Terastal phenomenon dont mutate the pokemon by forcing them to evolve again, being far more benign processes than megas

I teared up when I saw the trailer for Pokemon Legends Z. Pokemon X and Y are two of my favorite Pokemon games. And that fact that Mega Evolution is coming back...God give me strength to wait until next year. Kalos is finally getting the attention it deserves. I can't wait to play with Mega Venasaur again! ❤

I'm actually really excited to see more of Kalos expanded on, since i consider X & Y to be some of the most underrated games of the franchise personally. I loved a ton of the stuff in it, the characters, the locations, the Pokemon, the music, it was all fantastic. My only real issue was that the story need more expanding on, because the ideas in those games were great. So I'm really hoping we get to see it expanded on in Z-A.
(I'm also hoping we'd get to see Hoopa pick up that Castle like it's dex entry said in ORAS. 😁)

Every time there was the word "REdevelopment" you read it as just "development" lol they're two considerably different things.
Honestly, Lumosie city was tiny and empty in X&Y so i can see them really making the city feel massive in this game.
Utilizing the z-axis we could be going underneath Lumosie and maybe traveling between the past and future.
I think the city will be plenty bug enough to explore and catch untamed pokemon. The domes around the tower will likely be capture and boss zones

People were really thrown by the blue lined city… it’s a 3D Blueprint. It goes from a paper draft to modern software as a visual illustration of building the city. The game will likely take place in a recent past within the past couple centuries. As others have mentioned, there was a rebuild of Paris in our own history which they might be referencing.
My theory is that it takes place in the future, it says *redevelopment* of lumiose, not development, Idk which way it’ll go, but I’m mainly assuming future, the clothing being very similar to pla is on thing that could prove me wrong, but my point still stands mostly

You know, I wonder if we'll finally get the doom flower variant of Floétte in this game. I mean we never got it back then since Pokemon Z was cancelled. Took awhile but I guess we finally are getting the 3rd version of the Kalos games.
The tweet from Nintendo saying it is set entirely in lumiose city is backed up by the post about pokemon day in the nintendo switch news section where it says the exact same thing.
What if this Legends Game will take place in distant future rather than past? The Z-A reversed. Plus based on the sketches and the video looking like "VR" I feel like its giving major futuristic vibes.
I think they're setting up a legends unova. Z-A will be about AZ and then it'll spin off into hints about unova and the kingdom there and then we'll get the new/old dual game sitch but for unova
A few things we know/can infer from the teaser.
1. Mega Evolutions, whether we get new megas or just all the old ones is uncertain but they'll definitely be here, hopefully some Kalos pokemon will actually get megas this time.
2. Zygarde, with the stylization of the Z-A plus just having a Z in the name makes it clear that Zygarde will be pretty important.
3. AZ, seeing as Z-A is AZ backwards and AZ was the one who made the ultimate weapon and that he has lived over 3000 years he will likely be pretty important to the story.
It would be so fucking cool if they surprise us with a futuristic concept and the city has a cybernetic look

Legends Arceus was not an open world game. It was more like monster hunter that there is a city you come back to to collect materials. takes on side quests. And then goes to 4 5 or 6 mini open worlds. Jubilife Village was that for legends arceus. Lumiose City is one of the largest cities in Pokemon. They improve on the ideas of legends arceus
An RPG set entirely in a city isn't that big of a deal, many games do that. Take Persona, for example. Besides, Pokémon regions aren't that big, you walk four steps and you're already in a different city

Likely Gen 10 ish since GF likes to make remakes and revisit generations on the number double to the original generation. Legends Z-A is likely just an outlier since X and Y were unfinished.

Do you think they'd include Miraidon and Koraidon in the new Legends Z-A game? Or will we be riding Cyclizar? Then, of course, there is: Rhyhorn, Mamoswine, and Gogoat. It would be super cool to ride those in the Scarlet and Violet style. It will be cool to see more details about this game!
My Theory is that the game will be alot older than this, possibly right after the great war, with people trying to rebuild. We see scetches change into a very Holograph look, before turning back. I think this implies we'll be there when Lumiose is being built, with the tower being a monument to the war. I mean, we already had holograms with Lysandre, so it's something already in Kalos. Maybe it will be Renaissance era? Those sketches reminded me of De Vinchi's drawings.
If this takes place around the same time as PLA, I hope Emmet is in this game and looking for Ingo.

I was consuming a lot of Kalos related music lately. Almost felt like I willed this into existence.
when I saw pokemon legends Z, i was literally about to cry, Pokemon X and Y was my childhood. Kalos is my favourite region, and legends arceus is my favourite format of game.

I bet the protagonist for the Legends Z-A will actually be related to the protagonist from Legend Arcus. Let’s say their child or grandchild, either way that could help make things easier and feel like the two are connected

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Zygarde isn't a huge antagonistic force of nature opposing such a grand scale of urban development, as that's a lot of "natural environment" being threatened by human actions. That said, I also wouldn't be surprised if this was so early in the urban development that it's still a massive natural environment that changes over the course of the game into a more city environment, with areas outside wild areas still available for exploration, potentially even into the entire region but just not as we know it. Saying "entirely in Lumiose City" doesn't necessarily restrict us to just what we know as Lumiose City, just as Jubilife Village wasn't the set-in-stone blueprint of Jubilife City.
In short, I think there's a lot more to this game than what the Nintendo tweet sounds like.

I think a fun concept for Z-A would be to have AZ be bitter towards the idea of a place where pokemon and people can coexist and try to destroy Lumiose City. This could be the final fight in which AZ seeing the trainer working in tandem with pokemon would change his mind for the better. Then again I would love to see a upgraded form of Xerneas and Yveltal but thats just me.
Maybe I’m crazy but every time I watch the teaser it looks like the lady sitting at the cafe is holding a smart phone. Like, her thumb even taps down at the end of the scene.
If the entire game is within the borders of Lumiose, it could be that Pokemon Legends just means the title Legendary is involved in the entire plot of the game (PLA saw Arceus pull us to the past and its power driving Pokemon mad). This could mean Z-A is set after XY with artificial environments being established beneath Lumiose districts made possible by the Zygarde Cores.

Depending on when the new console comes. This game is definitely a holiday game. They won’t have to make the same moves as last legends. If anything it be could be like what happened when the 3DS came out. XY was on the horizon and a side game came out before it to supplement.

I have a Theory
Maybe Pokémon z-a was sent in a timeline where the ultimate weapon was fire and put kalos into post apocalypse and lumiose city was turned into a safe haven for people and need to develop fast , so it our job to develop the city and stop any danger to the city which might be zygrade
Think about it the second fire of the ultimate weapon could bring new mega Pokémon too
Its going to be a time travel game
We literally start from what looks like a Holo Caster like digital blueprints and then transition into paper blueprints we're going into Kalos's past.
This was my most anticipated game. Anything Zygarde. Also that A is super sus with its new pattern. I feel like Zygarde, Z, will be connected to a Pokemon A.
wait, so their doing the same thing a final fantasy 7 remake did? the whole game is set in the capital city?
I think it's likely that Lumiose's redevelopment team will provoke the wrath of Zygarde, but given how the city still exists in the modern day they probably won't be too antagonistic. Perhaps the majority of the planners have the best intentions, and there's just one guy that wants to push things too far. They probably won't do the same Xerneas/Yveltal+ultimate weapon story though since it would make Lysandre look dumb for trying to replicate a twice-failed plan. So maybe one of the Mythical Pokemon will piss off Zygarde instead (ex. Hoopa introducing invasive species to the region, Volcanion blasting a mountain away for whatever reason).
For AZ, I hope he gets more screen time since his appearances in the original were pretty scarce. Since he travels so much, it makes the most sense that we'd just run into him in each open section of the game. And then, through our encounters, he gains some hope of reuniting with Floette by seeing the bond we have with our Pokemon.
As for what we've seen of Lumiose City, I'm mainly curious about the 5 plazas. There seem to be different things at the center of each one, so it makes me wonder if they'll have greater significance. If not, then I'd at least hope the buildings in the city are color-coded to correspond to each plaza so it's easier to tell what part of the city we're in.
Arlo has the idea for a legends Kyrem, the key thing being the protagonist being the same from legends arceus
Honestly if my guess on the timeline is correct, this could be a possibility, and I like the idea
I can imagine Rei/Akari traveling the world with professor Laventon, seeking to fill out the Pokédex of other regions. Perhaps the professor was drawn to Lumiose city for the Paris Worlds fair.

Even if Lumiose City is big, I dont rlly like the idea of the entire game taking place in just this one part of Kalos. How exactly would we be able to get new pokemon? There arent rlly any spots with wild pokemon aside from maybe the water. I would rather explore an entire region than stay in a city thats cramped yet not cramped at the same time.
I’m alright with them just announcing it and leaving it at that. It’s set to release in 2025 so they have about a year to develop it. As long as I know they’re working on it I’m ok with waiting. (I of course want to see a little bit of gameplay at some point)
Problem with the past thing: The whole point of the redevelopment plan is so that Wild Pokemon can live in the city with people
This being in the past implies that whole plan fails misseribly because we can clearly see in X and Y there is clearly not wild Pokemon everywhere.

My guess so far is that they will be dipping their toes into a different gameplay style from Legends Arceus. See how it goes. What that style will be exactly, I don't know. COuld be a dungeon crawler for all we know, there's lots of tunnels beneath IRL Paris.
People have been debating wether the game takes place in the future or the past, but why not both? The name Z-A is going from the end of the alphabet to its beginning, so it's not that much of a strech to suggest that the game may involve time travel.

I mean there’s sinnoh vs Hisui and the implication that protag goes back in time in PLA because Pokégod yeeted them there. And SV is past vs future respectively.

I have a theory for Mega evolution in Legend Z. What if Mega evolution was not known in that period? The use of Mega stones was for jewelry purposes like necklaces and bracelets. In the story, we begin to discover Mega Evolution. Let's say this, a woman is buying a necklace with a mega stone for her and her Gardevoir just so they look like they have more class, then in a freak accident let's say a strong wild Pokemon starts to attack her but her Gardevoir protects her but the wild Pokemon was too strong. Then with the strong bond, Gardevoir began to Mega Evolve and easily defeated the wild Pokemon.
I hope it doesn't come ozt too early in the year, because seeing the track record of Pokémon lately, I want the game to be finished and a game with a (hopefully) big world to explore needs time. Otherwise it either will be buggy or really just empty
The fact we haven't seen anything from the whole game except the concept worries me a bit as well, do they just wanna avoid to show anything before its done? Or do they have nothing to show? How long did is this game in development behind the scenes?
I mean they made the DLC's, did another team at GameFrak start developing this game at the same time?
Those are thoughts which worry me a lot
I assume it would be early in the year because if it were set to release in late 2025 then they could've just pushed this announcement to next year's Pokemon Day. Then again, maybe they just wanted to cap off the presentation with a flashy announcement since there aren't any other mainline games coming out this year, and it will come out in late 2025. Either way, I hope they make good use of their time.
