Hey Steve, there was a LOT of the old Canadian Tire in that trailer build. I think as a concept build you may be able to do something like this easy enough :) with Steve Style! It would be a boat build but on wheels :)
I’d remove the external locks and add a proper lock so it’s safer and you can’t be locked in it. Add some fold down legs to increase stability of trailer when parked. Storage under bed or make bed fold down for more space and add an awning or tent for the outside to increase space in winter for cooking etc. Awesome find and a great starter
My daughter is 13 years old and still gives me one of her stuffed animals to take anytime I go out of town for work or camping or whatever. It's become a tradition I wouldn't ever want to break.
Kids are amazing. My youngest made a little card for me when she was 3 for fathers day, and asked me with as serious a face a 3 year old can, to "not throw it out" (never have thrown out anything, still have everything). I made a promise to her I'd keep it under my keyboard which was a safe spot hidden from the light, and she asked "forever?". It's 7 years later, still there, she still checks periodically. Kids are amazing.
I agree Beauty really seems to be a good camp companion on short trips. She doesn't make a lot of noise, steal your firewood, she is comfortable with a camp fire, sits well in the canoe. Hope to see her in more of your shorter trips. About time to get Wil and the girls out for an over nighter. Its been a little while. I think Autumn was just beginning to walk and talk the last time.
Great trailer. You could always make the bed a fold down one so when you aren't sleeping in it you could fold it up against the wall and that would give you more room to sit and hang out or cook if the weather is bad.
Solar panels on top to keep the Anker charged on multi-day trips, magnetic snap close screens for the door to help keep skeeters out (and could even leave the door open that way), maybe some foam weather stripping around the door (looked like light was coming through around the edges). Looks fun!
I hope he has another way to exit the new camper as all the barrel locking hasps are on the outside. It would only take one lock to not be fully retracted or someone pulling a prank and Joe's in the box.
Joe! You're showing your age and coming over to the dark side. Creature comfort, beer, Nachos and videos in the bush! Expect see you next in a 35' tri-axle at a resort. Kudos to Beauty. Sits the canoe so well and living up to her name. Well done Beauty!
Autumn giving you the cat toy when you were about to leave.....😇🥰❤.....that is just freakin adoreable.....as for the trailers name, you should call it "TROUT".....a combination of Tripper, and Scout....since you love fishin and all too 👍
Super nice trailer. Small yet keeps you from becoming bear chow. Warm and dry. Maybe get a magnetic screen for the back to keep the bugs away. Sweet trailer camping! Name it Ruby!
Very cool! Maybe install a couple of solar panels to the roof. You could even attach a drop-down table to the inside of the door too so you could put a gas burning stove to cook on outside as needed. Also, one of those powered coolers might be nice to have. They make USB powered lights that work well and don't use much power too. If you want to go a little overboard, you could add a pull out awning to one side as well. Looking forward to seeing how she looks once your done with all of your customizations.
Nice little rig ! Lower that carbon monoxide detector to down near the floor. That gas settles down low, is odorless, and it will be too late by the time it piles up enough to reach where it is mounted now. All the best to you !
Hi Joe, also love to see Beauty with you, she clearly loves going in the canoe with you, she was watching you when you when you took the boat from the car roof and run with you, and she is so calm and seems to enjoy everything.
Joe, maybe the time, the knowhow and the resources are still wanting...yet one step at a time you my friend are walking toward and into your dream coming true. Well done because it doesn't get much better than this.
Hang screen down the back so bugs dont eat you at night or whenever and roll up and tie off when not needed... im sure you have or would have thought of all these things but its fun for me to think about....wanted to do a tiny trailer for yrs but im up in yrs now and dont see ever being able to so thx for sharing
It looks great, allthough i did see a deadbolt on the outside i think and my paranoid brain immediately went to how you could lock the door with someone inside, i guess its fine if you can fit out the window. Probably fine of course but im a nutter with that stuff when im camping alone.
Can't believe you turned the catfish back! With that, could've made supper easily! Could have fried catfish, french fried potatoes, hush puppies, onion.. yum yum
Perfect. What more could you need . I’ve lived in vehicles for most of my life here in the Uk (I’m 52 now) from caravans all the way up to a American school bus and recently been thinking of building something similar to this myself . Nice & light to tow and easy to move around . Great vid and find joe 👍
It's Joe's Robinhut! Really like it. You defo need to put your logo on it. I agree with a lot of the other comments about what to do. A photo wall on the inside would look great. Beauty is the perfect camp companion. Look forward to more adventures in the Robinhut.
Very cool! So glad you have an escape window in case someone locks you in. Might want to add a large sunroof similar to a boat fore-hatch. Should be easy enough to build and still be water tight.
Ladder at the side. tent platform above for those warm, raised nights, better ventilation and a pal. Awning roll for shade detachable from the exterior, bubble window in rear door for that classic Cheech & Chong van living appeal. Oh yeah, and a fire extinguisher to protect your outback dwelling. Cheers!
Love it, Joe. I love this kind of camping. The bushcraft stuff is fun, but this stuff is more like most of the camping I've done. Great to see you enjoying it.
A simple addition would be to put a fold-up shelf on the inside of the door for a coleman stove and cooking. Just like the one under the window. Thanks for sharing. Good luck.
I love your trailer. It's so compact, yet has all the comforts of being inside . My only concern is that someone could lock 🔐 you in from the outside. 😬 Look forward to see you in future adventures in this trailer. 😀
I would change the locks. Put them inside to secure the space when you are in it. Simple padlock to outside to secure it when you leave it to hike, etc. Also, get an inexpensive set of magnetic door screens to keep mosquitoes out. There are plenty of rechargeable light bulbs and strip lights to replace the battery one. Enjoy.
Pretty cool setup, though I'd be concerned about the exterior lock. Some A-hole could ruin your day by locking it while your inside. Well, down here in the States that'd be a concern. Might think about hinges for the cot, could allow additional space for a bike or something.
When I was in my 20s, I farmed by myself on some raw land with no utilities, Bushcraft was a daily deal for me inside of a cargo trailer. I really miss those days, they were simple and occupied with tasks of "inconvenience" as I had to cook on wood, heat with wood, collect and filter my own water, walk a hundreds of feet to the sunny spot where I had batteries charging. I'm about to move at the end of the year and really consider getting a cargo trailer again, but then again if you don't have land to park them on I essentially have to sell them.
What a lovely compact Travel Cabin this is, full of potential, ready for you to make it just how you like. It looks solidly constructed and easily manoeuvrable by one person. Comfortable, cosy and a lovely place to be irrespective of the weather, I'm really pleased for you finding this.
Love the “little trailer/camper”. Looks like fun. Next trip to WalMart…bug strips or one of those mosquito machines that sit on a table. Also, a mat for Beauty and her bone. Thanks for sharing.
I love it. Make the bed a fold up to give you sitting room and a tarp over the back door. Happy for your purchase. My daughter always sent a stuffed animal on my solo trips
I would love to have a little camper trailer like the one you found. Really happy for you. For being so small it is really set up nicely. A nice awning would be great. You found yourself an awesome deal. Let the fun begin.
It was nice to hear the story about your quilt! I haven’t been keeping up with your videos recently but it’s always refreshing to experience your personality every once in a while Joe!
Nice little camper. I met a dog at my parents old folks home and it reminded me of Beauty. It was a 100 lb. Mostly white sheep dog with it's hair cut short. His name was Jethro and he had his own golf cart that said Jethros ride with paw prints on the side. His owner drives him around and takes him to see all the old people. I asked him if he wanted to shake my hand and he looked at me for awhile and decided he would an put his giant paw out. So cute. His paw was as big as my hand. He sits on the back rest with his paws on the seat. He's taller than the guy driving him around and has 1 blue eye an 1 brown eye.
Outside "lock" system makes it easy for someone to lock you in....not safe ..just something to think about. My Dad back in the 70's built a fold out camper man it was heavy as all get out all welded frame to fit plywood no waste and had a canvas top made . We had great times .
Love Simplify of your tiny camp trailer. Add a portapotty Ideal to just pull over someplace on a long trip and catch a catnap. It takes me back to our first camper in 1970. Lighting was a propane gas lamp, Ice box was just that. In 71 my new family took a trip from San Diego back to Ohio and return in a 13 foot Scotty, 2 girls, my wife and my self. Had tons of fun. No bathroom, No Airconditioning, no tv or even radio. 10 gallons of fresh water. Hooray
Add a board that slips out to wall to add more bed space for girls, just add two folding 2by2s for legs, you'll all have a great time and we really want to see you all having fun !
I think you need more modification on that tiny camper Joe. Starting with the outside lock and there's a gap on the door. You can put some storage boxes under the bed. Anyways, still a good find.
I think the kitty adds a lot to the trailer! Haven’t watched in a while but it’s such a nice escape from what’s going on in the world! Much love Joe, hope you’re doing well 💛
Oh I love your little camper! Very nice amenities and the guy left a lot of nice supplies for you. I have a Little Guy teardrop camper, so I can appreciate what you've got there. When I bought my Little Guy, I also camped in it right away, on the way home. I did notice that I could see daylight around the edges of your camper door after it was closed. Might need to do something to keep out moisture. I think you'll get many hours of enjoyment with the camper. Glad you're better from the salmonella. Take care.
All you need now is a small eski / cooler and a bug zapper and your little camper will be complete , I'm saving this video for future reference , Cheers Joe , enjoy your new toy , 🙂👍 .
Da Caboose! Love it, looks so fun. Something my dad taught me...don't leave those locks that only open from outside on your hatch. Someone could lock you in and cause problems.
I have a grandma made quilt too, it’s University of Alabama football. She put a bunch of brown footballs and her best attempt at an elephant head. It’s so bad it’s funny but I know she made it just for me and I miss her so it’s my favorite blanket. In a house fire it would be top of my list to try to get out.
Beauty is such a good dog. So quiet and chill. Just a thought, you could get a mesh door thing that you can put down over the doorway so you can have more air flow while chilling in the camper without all the skeeters.
Great get Joe. That carbon monoxide detector needs to be below where your head is when sleeping. If your window and door are closed, CO collects from the floor up (heavier than air ) you’d be affected before the detector senses it in its higher present location. Have fun making it yours.
Hey Jo happy to see you out and about again. Love the new camper I have one like it as well and love it. Can’t wait to see your twist on it and videos.
Whooooo hooooo Welcome to the wonderful world of tiny campers. The easiest most wonderful convenient and awesome way to camp! Can’t wait to see future videos
Consider mounting the bed to the wall with a hinge that will let it fold up and hook it when not in use. Lower it so your feet touch the floor to add both comfort while sitting, and more headroom. If you build a storage box under the head of the bed the height of the bed platform, it will serve as a support for the bed when folded down, and you will only need 1 fold down leg at the foot of the bed.
Well that was fun! Tip: NEVER use the fan when it's very hot in there. The fan just turns the camper into a convection oven. Seriously. It'll kill you faster. Bring a screen tent. Like a Clam tent. Check out their videos - outstanding products. Love how you love your family and your pets. Love your sense of humor. Have a great weekend!
Love it, just the perfect size for 1 person with all the essentials. Could build a pull-out drawer under the bench with some storage or cooking gear to be able to cook outside.
Your light combination was, indeed, heavenly. Wow. Am I an idiot for getting hooked on that? And any Sir Elton reference is duly appreciated. Thanks for the video. I think by watching Steve Wallis I was directed here. Awesome.
I built basically the same but to be pulled behind a pushbike. Sold it 2 years later for 4.5 k $.and built 2 more, the last one which is a keeper, in carbon fibre. and it's weight is only 51kg's, as opposed to the first which was 89kgs. The new one has a renogy lithium solar/battery system this time round. i also built an ebike system for my existing pushy, with 2 batteries, one being charged every day, - 90km charge a day, so good enough distance for my dog and I to tour, long distance every now and then.
love the little trailer....looking at the opening......two things as you move forward.......1. add a mosquito net that rolls up than you can drop it when you are inside or away from the trailer.....another thing would be to add a drop down platform on the inside so that when you open door you can drop it and have a nice little porch which would add more space.....etc.....
All I'm thinking is a roof rack on the camper and solar panels for the outside. Maybe a mosquito net with a magnetic edges to keep it secure? Removable rack for the propane heater? As for the trailer name: The scout?
Thanks Joe. Definitely bring the kids. Maybe put in a titanium wood stove. Have a great time. Build some skis for it in the winter. Glad you’re feeling better.
I highly recommend finding a small portable bug zapper that has a light that they attracted to...I am sure they must make a small portable one that you could keep in it. Great find, happy that you are happy. Love the videos and can't wait to see what else you add to it and the trips you take with it.
Dammit Joe, you beat me to it! Haha looks good.
Can we get a Steve and Joe collab?
Should have a look at mine steve it's for sale and I'm in Edmonton you can see it in my videos
@steve Bus>Tiny Camper lol. Cheers
I'll be expecting nothing less than a Crazy Neighbour contraption for Steve.
Yeah or maybe replace the exterior lock bolts with carriage bolts and cotter pins on the inside so you can pop it off if you need it.
Also, find a way to screen the main entrance, maybe with two screen doors inside the main door. Or a retractable pull down screen in a track.
Was thinking the same thing
Move the co2 detector closer to the floor
came here to say please remove the external locks when you're sleeping lol
My daughter is 13 years old and still gives me one of her stuffed animals to take anytime I go out of town for work or camping or whatever. It's become a tradition I wouldn't ever want to break.

@@canoozie great story!
Thats so sweet💕
I got my first Father’s Day present this year and I went out and bought a giant tote cause I want to fill it to the brim

Poodles are very intelligent. I've forgotten what she is, though.
Poodles are the best companions for such a trip. Obedient, fast learners, extra responsive and loyal, resulting in a minimum of risks and hassles.
Great trailer. You could always make the bed a fold down one so when you aren't sleeping in it you could fold it up against the wall and that would give you more room to sit and hang out or cook if the weather is bad.

Joe's version of when a TH-camr makes it big and buys a mansion.. Love it man :)
I hope he has another way to exit the new camper as all the barrel locking hasps are on the outside. It would only take one lock to not be fully retracted or someone pulling a prank and Joe's in the box.
@@mstrdiver Hopefully the window is big enough to crawl out of.
Yeah he needs a nice sawzall or grinder to keep inside with him
I respect his spending choices this is an awesome trailer setup! I’d love to have it for camping

I’d change the door to be top hinged with some gas struts. The door would become an awning when open.
Excellent idea!
That’s a good idea. I was thinking he cut an RV door with a screen in it. But both will work.
Same
Good idea!
Super nice trailer. Small yet keeps you from becoming bear chow. Warm and dry. Maybe get a magnetic screen for the back to keep the bugs away. Sweet trailer camping! Name it Ruby!
An idea: put some sort of screen over the large opening where the door is so that you can let air flow in, have a nice view, and keep the bugs out!
They make bug net doors would be great for it
I agree, needs a screen door. 👍🏻
@@bossaudio12- Sure do. I'd invest in one of those with the magnets on it, so it closes completely every time.
Make that door attach at the roof-line and swing up so you'd have a rain awning!

The dog had a face of why is this grown man talking to himself 😂😂
Da Caboose! Love it, looks so fun. Something my dad taught me...don't leave those locks that only open from outside on your hatch. Someone could lock you in and cause problems.
Grandma’s blankets are the best. We still have all ours too ❤️
I have a grandma made quilt too, it’s University of Alabama football.
Glad to see you back. I hope Tripper is ok. Beauty is awesome, very calm.
built out a 4x8 cargo trailer ......its small enough i can pull it with minivan .....live in it every winter .....just love it !!!
Hey Jo happy to see you out and about again. Love the new camper I have one like it as well and love it. Can’t wait to see your twist on it and videos.
This was a delight to watch. It’s always fun to get a new camper and make the most of it. Enjoy!
Whooooo hooooo Welcome to the wonderful world of tiny campers. The easiest most wonderful convenient and awesome way to camp! Can’t wait to see future videos
You are on a roll with lots of fun ideas with the family in the cute little camper. Thanks for sharing and taking us along.
Good on you. I have a camper van and enjoy the diversity of outdoor experiences. So should you. No limits on trying new things. Have fun.
You better block your tires Joe, or you may end up rolling away LOL
I know you didn't think she would be, but Beauty is a good fit. She's calm, and seems to know what's expected of her. Oh, and the trailer's nice too.
Thanks Joe. Definitely bring the kids. Maybe put in a titanium wood stove. Have a great time. Build some skis for it in the winter. Glad you’re feeling better.
I’m glad you’re happy Joe. 🙏 you deserve to be. You’re amazing 🙌
Hey Joe you have very good video s , 👍 👌, don't let things get you down. Your a very good person. Please keep your coming , 🙏 ❤ 🙂.
I highly recommend finding a small portable bug zapper that has a light that they attracted to...I am sure they must make a small portable one that you could keep in it. Great find, happy that you are happy. Love the videos and can't wait to see what else you add to it and the trips you take with it.
