Hey guys! This was a new type of video for us so it would be really good to understand how you felt about it and whether you'd like to see us expand it to other games in the franchise. Big thanks to Guideseeker for suggesting the topic to us! ~Darryl/Lauren
Very enjoyable video. I love when you cover the main series of course, but I greatly welcome your team covering other games in the franchise. I'm suuuupppeeerrr excited for when you cover Final Fantasy: Dissida next. I spent many a hour on my psp playing it.
I remember I was like 13 and we took a road trip as a family from socal to Canada. Never saw this game anywhere here but saw it in a store in Canada and begged my parents to buy it for me. They said yes and I memorized the booklet and pictures before I even got home to play it. I knew it was gonna be one of the best games I ever played.
The sound track, the story, the art style, the characters, the game play, the difficulty(without grinding), the mechanics.. this game is one of the greatest ever made 🙌🏽
My favorite game on ps1 and again on psp. Everything from the soundtrack/soundeffects to the story of this game hits me in the heart just thinking about it. I’ll never forget this game. Ty for this video
I obsessed over the grind of this game. The development of each character and potential new job classes/skills/abilities. It took me FOREVER to progress through the game simply because I wanted to grind out my characters and truly turn them into serious power houses. SO cool learning the history behind one of the greatest FF games in history!
Only game I’ve replayed over and over more than once, but the storytelling was so captivating! Only game I’ve played in my life where I read through all the text.
I absolutely love FFT. I remember when it came out and a friend wanted it. So I found a guy online and he sold me his copy and I gave it to my friend. For those from the early years of the internet you might remember two guys named Adam Page and Adam Corn of 'Soundtrack Central' who were devoting much of their time on their respective sites, also knew each other, getting fans acquainted with video game music. I used to talk Page and Corn through the early years of e-mail. Then I was talking with Corn a lot about VGs, and he sold his copy of FFT to me for $30. He did later go on to create a storefront to sell soundtracks. This was a golden era for fans starting with FF to really get into buying VG soundtracks. Now things are so much easier. How things have changed. I would sit in and watch my friend and his brother play and I felt a little intimidated mainly because I had never put my hand to a tactical sim type RPG. When I finally sat in again and actually watched the game in action I was really entralled by the amount of depth put into this game. I would say that FFT is definitely one of Square's biggest successes outside of FF. Considering that it was coming in on the tail success of FF7 and Square was pretty borrowing many ideas to slap FF on it. Bringing in Yasumi Matsuno from Ogre Batte, Tactics Ogre to create a tactical sim with that will not only use the FF brand but utilize the FF job system into the gameplay... it was a match made in happen. People had their doubts, because sure it wasn't typical FF, but the degree of story development was amazing. Everything flowed together like a beautiful pot of soup. Add in Akihiko Yoshida's art and Hitoshi Sakimoto's score... and your taste buds were satisfied. Many consider this Sakimoto's best compositions during the early years of Square. And still is. I'm a big fan of Sakimoto and have collected a good deal of his music, but I still consider FFT his best work. This video helped me refresh my memory with the story. I finally broke down and played the game and realized it wasn't as scary as I thought. The story was really a mature story. And that's what kind of sets Matsuno apart from Sakaguchi, or Kitase, or anybody else. I never really how involved he could get on creating a world, characters. FFT set the foundation for a whole separate universe for Square. But it really wasn't the FF they knew because FF didn't have a name. Now Square is willing to adopt having different branches. Seiken the Mana series WAS a different take using FF's name before it got spun off into it's franchise. It was FF Adventure, that was what was included in the subheading, it's full title Seiken: FF Adventure. By the time the 2nd installment came around and called it Seiken Densetsu 2, they just moved it into a different part of the franchise and added different monsters to separate it from the FF brand. Would I want to see this redone? I don't know how this would work today being upgraded in a realistic fashion. It could work, but the sprites working with the tactical element for that time worked together perfectly. How would this translate if redone in a more upgraded realistic manner. If anything needs a proper remake it's Vagrant Story.
I was shocked how deep the battle system the first I played when I was only a child and didn't know a lot English nor Japanese to understand the story. I played FFT years later, only to realize the story was also amazing. Now here I am, 20 years after its launch and still playing the game.
Indeed, there are but a few games that I can think of that truly deserve a "best game ever" award, in various categories. FFT is definitely one of them. Others would be Chrono Trigger, FFVI, Baldur's Gate (1 and 2).
@@fnors2 Tactics Ogre is vastly underrated. FFT is my favorite game of all time, but I enjoyed Tactics Ogre almost as much. I wish they would sell it in the PS store.
no doubt no doubt this game is pure ART i love everything from the music to the brilliant gameplay its a shame Grimoire was the last true original tactics game...and that was over 10 years ago...i still love Grimoire though! now wheres my DS.......
FF Tactics Advance was my first tactical game as well as the first FFT game that I ever played, owned, and beat. I bought it at a mall we stopped at to take a break on the long drive to the cabin we were staying at on our Church trip. I remember laying on my mat while the other kids ran around doing whatever and played it during most of my free time. I fell in love with the game as well as the series and when I got my hands on War of the Lions I ended up 100%ing it/ unlocked all secret characters as well as professions and maxed them all out.
I remember there name being square soft not just square. At least in the 90s. Final Fantasy Tactics has always been an amazing game. I'm really glad it was created. I've played it multiple times.
I remember reading about Final Fantasy Tactics in magazines in the late '90s. This was shortly after Final Fantasy VII introduced me to JRPG's and while riding that high, I wanted to absorb everything Final Fantasy. Sadly FFT never saw a release in Europe so I never did get the opportunity to play it back then. I'm not sure if I would have properly understood or appreciated it if I had gotten the chance though. A few years ago I managed to pick up a copy of FFT while on holiday in Canada and it's very satisfying to finally make good on that desire from so many years ago.
FF tactics is my fav game of all time . So much time spent in this game in my younger years. The music is incredible, story is amazing , combat is so much fun , art is on point . I love every single thing about the game.

My only regret about Tactics is that I've played it to the point that there is no real challenge anymore. Though I am always happy to discuss or hypothesize character builds. Some of my favorite character builds were the Jedi Knight, the Hippy Chick, and the Ronin. There was a Samurai job, but what I considered the Samurai build was a Lancer with Draw Out as the secondary ability. Man, the Hippy Chick is an awesome support/tactical unit. Diabolical :)

FFTA for the GBA is my second favorite FF game. I think the last time I booted my game up I saw I had 209 hours between two save files. My main character duel wielded the two strongest weapons which were Excalibur and Excalibur 2 and would deal 198 dmg with each attack and if someone hit him he'd counter with the same. I remember me and a friend did a link cable battle and I one shot every character. I was obsessed with that game.
i started playing fft and ff7 when 7 came out at the same time and i will love them forever, tactics is still my fav and i absolutely love the style of gameplay and the aesthetic
Final Fantasy Tactics is masterpiece. I may have put in around 100 hours into it yet I have never gotten further then chapter 2 but I still love to turn it on and bask in the majesty.

FF Tactics was sadly never released in the UK and I don't think it got released in Europe in general, always wanted to have the chance to play it but no luck. Most we got at the time was one too many football games because of the world cup at the time.

One day, i actually BEAT the first level with only Ramza. After i had told my brother, he ended up saying that i could switch in the generic characters. I screamed...
