      @Jonathan Mosebach -- In response to your other comment (which I've removed) about how now that I'm on Patreon, maybe the kids won't have to pay to bowl anymore, let me respond this way:
      First of all, I spend between 30 and 40 hours every week producing PRODIGY. I don't think anyone reasonable would begrudge me for getting compensated for my efforts, which for the past two years, has been given freely in return for basically nothing but the satisfaction I get from doing the work. I'm not retired, and this takes time away from what I could otherwise be doing actually earning a living. But I prefer doing this, and would love to make it my full time gig. The truth is, creative endeavors like this take time and effort to be made into something you can enjoy. It's highly unlikely that I could sustain the kind of time investment in this for long if I get no compensation in return. Baby's gotta eat.
      Second, asking the kids to pay $10 to bowl PRODIGY is perfectly reasonable. They pay far more than that to bowl in tournaments all over the area every month. $60 for GYBT each month. $40 for Top Dog Junior events each month. And heaven knows how much more for all the other tournaments some of these kids travel to every month or so. I don't keep a penny from the money the kids pay to bowl PRODIGY; it goes to the bowling center to pay for their lineage. The fact is, last year when we didn't ask for up-front payment, a bunch of the kids would routinely walk out without paying. It happened every week, and it was usually the same kids. I'd won't name them, but they're probably some of your favorites. And guess who got to settle up with the bowling center? That would be me...or some parent who ended up footing the bill for those who walked out. Not cool. So you won't find much appetite from me to pay for their bowling.
      I'd rather teach these kids that nothing in life is free, and instill in them the respect that they should have for others, including companies that are there to make a profit. They should pay for their bowling. $10 is not too much to ask. A year ago we were talking about twice that amount. It's a very reasonable thing to ask.
      Now, if the Patreon thing grows into a sizeable enough revenue stream, I would love nothing more than to put some of it back into a fund for the kids. Maybe a scholarship kinda thing. But that won't be the first priority. Re-investing some of it to help improve the show (another camera, for instance) would come first. But we're a long way from the Patreon revenue stream being anywhere near large enough to even have that conversation.
      But hey, I appreciate you spending my money for me. Can I spend some of yours now?

    I'm impressed by how well Gilbert is throwing the ball out on the edge consistently. It's really not an easy thing to do, and to see a younger dude like himself executing those shots is very cool. Great episode as usual!

    Loving the new angle coach. Upset I couldn’t make it to league that day... sadly I won’t be able to make it tomorrow either due to Homecoming stuff. Nothing makes me miss bowling with you guys more than watching Prodigy. Keep it up coach.

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brandon, it's a shame you'll miss tomorrow. I have no idea how many will be there tomorrow. So many of our elites pre-bowled for tomorrow in anticipating of going to the Georgia All-Stars tournament in South Carolina, which has since been cancelled due to the hurricane. But their pre-bowl scores must stand. So they may or may not be there tomorrow. Which means that could open up the PRODIGY field to a whole different cast of characters. Depending on who's there, I'm thinking of doing our first Single Ball Eliminator of the year (I'll decide when I see who's there).

    Great episode on challenging conditions, a lot of brave bowling saw some great match-ups and two worthy finalists showed us how it should be done, congratulations to the winner and to all those that took part i look forward to seeing you all again next week.

      Boardwalk isn't as difficult as a lot of patterns they'll bowl on. But as a general rule, I find that only the better players have the guts to play out by the edge. They all need to learn how. As I say on the show, you can't play scared when you're out there.
      Unfortunately, a lot of players only feel comfortable playing in one part of the lane. But the fact is, some lane conditions take that part of the lane out of play, and will penalize you if you try to play there. Nolan found that out the hard way. He won't be the last this year. All bowlers, young and old, need to learn that changing balls is not the answer to every change in lane conditions. Just like football teams understand the concept of "taking what the defense gives you," in bowling you have to be willing to take what the lanes give you. That means reading the lanes and understanding where the lane condition is telling you that you need to play. Bowlers should be willing to stand most anywhere and aim most anywhere on the lane. The sooner these kids learn to play ALL DIFFERENT ZONES on the lanes, the sooner they'll get better at adapting to different conditions.

    Repeat.
    I love prodigy and I wish I could come but I live in New Jersey. My home bowling center is Bowlero Carolier. I have a 180 ish average and my highest game is 246. Highest series is 626. You guys rock!

    It's great to see Charlie back in town. College recruiters need to be talking to him and to Annalise. A lot of these bowlers have what it takes, which is basically between the ears. I would just like to say that Boardwalk is a criminal oil pattern.

      Thanks, David. I used it for the first time on the Season 3 opener to show how repeating Annalise's swing is. And in the PRODIGY Facebook group, I said at the time that I figured FOX or someone would steal this trick, as they have the technology to do a far better job with it. But I thought of it first.

    Finally got over 200 the day after a few months of playing. Its strange when I see kids using 14/15 pound balls and I can only use 11 as an adult lol. Would love to be half as good as they are. Straighter is greater.

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you are 80 or very, very weak, I cannot imagine how an adult can possible not throw more than 11 pounds. A ball that's drilled properly to fit YOUR hand (and not a generic fit, like a house ball) is going to feel lighter in your hand than one that doesn't fit. I once taught my wife (now ex-) to bowl. She was very small and not terribly strong. She was throwing 14. And as you can plainly see, we've got kids -- LITTLE kids -- throwing more than 11. There must be something you're not telling us.

    • @safc88
      @safc88 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ProdigyBowlersTour it's not drilled for my hand at a pro shop would be the reason Randy lol just ordered it from the internet which I know is probably a no no. I struck 5 times in a row a few weeks ago with it though. Do you think the weight really makes that much of a difference. Think in this video you mentioned its not about revs but accuracy. I see a lot of stone 7 and 10's left with 14/15 pound balls when I play league

    Hello Randy!! I’m 15 and I just bowled yesterday and got 131, it’s my highest, ive been bowling for about a week now and, my problem really comes down to having consistent shots, my ball goes left or right sometimes and I don’t know whats happening, can you assist me?

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The best advice I can give you here is to find a coach in your area and take lessons. There's really only so much someone can do to help you online. I offer video lessons on my website at www.brownswick.com. But nothing can replace a qualified set of eyes there, guiding you through the process of learning.

    • @jayvallandingham2406
      @jayvallandingham2406 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Watch Norm Duke`s instructional videos on TH-cam. Bowling is about keeping tight lines with a relaxed swing. Keep your hand behind the ball through out the entire swing. Put the ball in the palm of your hand and leave it there. If you feel like the ball spills off the side of your hand during your release you'll lose leverage and accuracy. Feel like your ring finger is going from bottom to top from 5 o'clock to 11 o'clock. And the palm of your hand ALWAYS faces the pins until the follow through at the end your palm will face you. Best thing to do is practice and take dead aim with every shot you make. Have fun it's a life time sport and you'll have plenty of time to get better at it:-)

    you should add a lower third of what ball they are using and if they switch then just put it up again once though you don’t need to do it every time they switch only when the first time they switch

    • @_thekingdavid_
      @_thekingdavid_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only the first time they switch my bad

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That will never happen. Because:
      a. I don't care what ball they're throwing. I care HOW they're throwing it.
      b. If I had an assistant, I'd go around polling all the players at the event about what balls they're carrying and what balls they have out. But it's just me, and I don't have time to do it.
      c. Even if I knew what balls they're carrying, there's no chance in the world that I would ever be able to recognize all the hundreds of balls that are on the market when one of the kids pulls a different one out in the middle of competition.
      d. And did I mention that I don't care?
      You guys make WAYYYYYYYYYYYY too much about what ball everybody is throwing. The ball manufacturers have successfully brainwashed you into believing this matters.

    • @_thekingdavid_
      @_thekingdavid_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      BrownswickBowling I completely understand cause it doesn’t matter the ball it matters how it’s thrown because I still use older balls like hyroad solid and roto grip sinister so it doesn’t matter to me it was just a suggestion for like newer bowlers that wonder the bowling ball

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get one or two such suggestions every week. If PRODIGY was shot by a team of 2 or 3 people, we'd have one who could go gather that information. But it's a one-man operation. And even if I had a list of every ball every kid had in their arsenal, my brain isn't big enough to be able to call on and remember what every one of those balls looks like when I see them throw it on the show. I ain't a walking computer. Nor do I want to be.
