- Crosby, Stills and Nash - Judy Blues Eyes
Another day, another new band to explore and learn about. This had some lovely whimsical melodies to enjoy. All I had to do was sit back, relax and let the majestic flows wash over me.
I do not own the rights to the music or video
Original video/content link: • Crosby, Stills & Nash ...
More from this group PLEASE! Unique sound. Unique harmonies.
One of my favorite groups. The soundtrack of my summer of 1969. And this is my favorite song of theirs. All three have outstanding voices and when they got together the harmonies are sublime. A real Super Group. All solo careers in their own right.
ANOTHER CLASSIC! from one of the best American bands. Solid, complex, sophisticated, and beautifully unique. CSN and CSN&Y is folk rock. They have country tunes and they can ROCK.
This was the Southern California sound circa 1968-early 70’s. Folk rock. Laurel Canyon movement. A point in time and space …a real music Renaissance. Many artists came out of this
🌸 these guys have some of the most amazing harmonies of any band ever
How can you possibly comprehend the beauty of the music when you are constantly running your mouth
This is SUITE; Judy Blue Eyes. And like a suite, it has several parts.
Steven Stills was/is a musical genius. Try Carry On next!
This is a suite of three 'movements'. Love their play on words. Harmony as melody. They all play guitar. They all sing. BTW their names are as the photo. Crosby on the left, Nash on the right.
CSN (and sometimes Y for Canadian singer/songwriter Neil Young who occasionally joined them) was a combination of David Crosby (formerly of US group The Byrds), Stephen Stills (formerly of US group Buffalo Springfield), and Graham Nash (formerly of UK group The Hollies). FYI, they're pictured in that name order (CSN) on the picture you're showing with the song. Their music was considered "folk rock". They had lovely vocal harmonies and really good musical production. The song was written by Stephen Stills and it's actual title is "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes", a play on the words "Sweet" Judy Blue Eyes. He wrote it for his on/off girlfriend, Judy Collins who is an American folk singer/songwriter and is about their imminent breakup. The sounds that move from one ear to the other in the headphones are most likely a technique called "panning" where the song producer and/or engineer would move the sounds to try to give a sense of "movement" within the music.
You sound like a big fan or just very knowledgeable on CSN &Y. So you probably know the story of the 'Original" album cover of them on the couch. After they took the pic, on the couch in front of that old house ,they realized ,they were not in the order of CSN. So they went back to do a re-take , the house was torn down, so you actually have NSC on their very first album cover .................LOL . Great story.
@@Newfie-zc7ug I'm not a *huge* fan, I'm more knowledgeable about The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, but know a little bit about a lot of things I like. Cool story, I appreciate it 🙂
One of the greatest harmony bands ever along with Bee Gee's / Eagles and Little River Band (LRB). They also had Neil Young on some albums (great solo artist). Each had good runs as solo artists as well. Stephen Stills is the guitar player.
That was rather pleasant mate...not heard this for a some time.... lovely mate
I must admit, it does leave one with a rather nice feeling 😊
He's knocking on an acoustic guitar.
@@sailinbob11 ahhh gotcha. Cheers
CSN ! Saw them twice brilliant live. Very uplifting
✨️🎶✨️
@@lesblatnyak5947 amazing!
I saw them once. Disappointed because their sound depends on a seemless blend of voices and the sound people never got the mics balanced. Not the fault of CSN, but disappointing for sure.
FYI, while stereo recording was invented previously, it wasn’t until the mid-60’s that it started being widely used by bands. It was almost like a new toy bands could play with, putting some parts entirely on one side or the other. Early Beatles recordings did the same thing.
“Suite Judy” was sweet Judy Collins, the singer/songwriter Stephen Stills was in the process of breaking up with at the time.
It should also be noted that this band recorded most, if not all, of their albums without the use of Autotune; these gentlemen actually had to be able to sing, and match pitch, unlike virtually all of today’s “artists”.
Fantastic band and basically a supergroup, since they came from other bands which have been mentioned. As the song is about folk singer and writer Judy Collins, she had hits of her own. Some being 'Amazing Grace' and 'Send In The Clowns'.
No matter how many times I hear this song, I never get bored (and it's been in the hundreds). I love these guys, the best harmonies in rock ever (imo). Wait till you hit them with the addition of Neil Young (CSNY). Such a deep and complicated history with them. Another huge rabbit hole. Stills, Nash and Young are still touring around, but not together. Unfortunately, Crosby is no longer with us. He knew his time was limited, but was able to release some fine solo albums prior to leaving us, he was a real character! And he could really piss off the other three. But so could Neil Young. More of them please...US Roadie 1 signing off.
Then it became Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young when Neil Young joined them. Neil Young - Hurricane, Heart of Gold and Old Man worth a listen.
Oh now your're down a big rabbit hole.. Neil Young needs to go on the list.. Suggestions are MY MY, HEY, HEY. & SOUTHERN MAN! the first is Neil Young & Crazy Horse! No Doubt other roadies will add to this list.. Keep up the great work Steve.. youre Irish Roadie Colm!
🤘😎🤘
These guys were quite political and anti-war. They came up through the Vietnam era and have a lot of music with Neal Young who wrote their anti-war anthem OHIO. The song protests the killing of Kent State students following Nixon's invasion of Cambodia and the resulting protests. You will not be disappointed with any of this band's music. Top Quality.
I know you like Phil Collins. He became friends with David Crosby in the late '80s and collaborated on several tunes with the most famous being 'Another Day in Paradise'. The official video is striking and impactful. Collins literally saved Crosby's life by helping him get a liver transplant when David was on his deathbed (Crosby was 'a bit' wild as a young man). Crosby lived another 30 yrs.
@@rk41gator wow. Brilliant comment. I enjoyed reading it and learning all that so cheers
By the way David Crosby did backing vocals on the Phil Collins single
Another day in paradise and the Phil Collins single That’s just the way it is
It's Woodstock music.
#suggestion David Crosby - Cowboy Movie
@@jimlang7461 added to the list 🙂
Must admit not heard this track
But very enjoyable
Hopefully whilst still off pal
Would request you to play the Horizons track and Suppers Ready by Genesis off the Foxtrot album
Neal 👍
I've been gearing up for suppers ready, I think I have a few Genesis track requests prior before that but shouldn't be too long away now! I think that will be a one song reaction day as it will likely see me off after that 😂
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions yes pal you will need a lie down after that 😂
@@MusicForTheSoulReactionsBud hope you listen to it again minus all that banter, hint hint. A little less banter, save it for the post discussion, cool
@@lesblatnyak5947 I'm thinking of starting to pause during reactions to get my thoughts out so this would hopefully sort this particular habit of mine.
please try the band:CARAVAN album FOR GIRLS WHO GROW PLUMP IN THE NIGHT or t§he band : SOFT MACHINE track MOON IN JUNE
I don’t really understand the point of these “first time reactions” but I do have a suggestion or two. One would be to be quiet while the music is playing. Not sure how you (or we) can appreciate it if you’re talking over it. Another thing might be to do your homework. Do you know who Judy Blue Eyes is? Or anything about that story which btw continues to this day? And having done so it would lead to several other amazing artists...but I’ll let you discover that for yourself.
@@johncahill3644 I respect your opinions. I prefer to go in completely blind to reactions and to have anyone within the channel help provide the information if I can't figure it out as I really enjoy engaging with the community and hearing their stories and info they know so much about. Sorry to hear you aren't particularly keen on my reaction. I'm still new to all this and am still finding my feet/preferences. I hope you have a good day.
Quit talking so much!
