I do like the flashlight on the Klein, but if it's giving you bad readings, it defeats its purpose. Thanks for the helpful comparisons.

Sold! Thanks Morgan (and Santronics for reaching out). The delay is mentioned on the packaging I believe and seems great. Better than a switch.

I saw these Santronics NCVs at one of the supply houses I frequently go do and my eye was definitely drawn to the “always on” feature. I normally use the Fluke but the button can be a bit of an annoyance when I’m wearing cut resistant gloves. I will have to pick one up soon. As a secondary point, I appreciate you demonstrating how to turn on and off the sound on the fluke. I thought the sound just was working intermittently for me due to dropping it or something.

After your old review I got the 3k model myself and turns out ot be my favorite. Also like you I have 4 or 5 of thoes flukes around and they are in bags and pouches as well out of abundance. Main bag wiha santronics and side pouches/quick bag sb-ld are flukes. The size really matters too it seems like the veto little pockets are made for thoes flukes and why you see them so often in them. This may not be everyone's list if importance but if you can get a made in usa peice of electronics and it not be as expensive as other brands along with working well it's a win win win. The only downside to santronics which they don't need to fix really is I don't see them being nearly as rugged (but they would need to be thicker more expensive ect) which would defeat the pluses it has to fix that. Geat content as always!

@@MattHmm-rq6dn yeah people have said the 3115 type break fairly easy when you drop them… luckily I haven’t dropped mine yet 😂
They are priced well that I can live with it if they break a little easier for the performance they give.

Love the Santronic (regular). I don’t generally care for sound but I might pick it up to see…it may fit a bit more snug in my mp2.
The only issue I have had with it is in HVAC equipment…it always seems to just flow when I’m anywhere close and loses its individual wire confirmation. Still, it’s the best I’ve used.

Don't really have the Santronics units in the UK, unless you import them via Amazon or eBay. They seem like quite a good unit in comparison to the others. I have one from Wiha but found it ate batteries, so now use ones from Kewtech for general use and an specialised one from Multicomp for hazardous areas.

Was your wiha the one with the gauge on it 25506? If so my batteries are over a year old and not dead. It does have more bells and whistles like the flashlight so I can see it not lasting to the down of time. Either way find what works for you till you find something better suited.

Purchased the red one last week . The battery cap is stuck with no way to change the batteries. Ordered a second one. Same problem. Checked the negative reviews on Amazon and several others had the same issue. Some of them broke it trying to unscrew the cap. Essentially it’s a disposable tool when the batteries die. They both are going back.

I know you don't need any more ncts but the wiha though expensive is more goldilocks of sensitivity your looking for. Wires that close it passes the white is not hot test in a plastic or metal box. It's only a touch more sensitive than the santronics but with the gauge on the front you can see false readings based on the lights. It also knows low or under powered 120 volt situations if there's a broken leg. If it wasn't for the 5ish flukes around I'd get more of rhe santronics and wihas.

It would make more sense to me for the Sperry to have the button somewhere towards the back. I don’t want to have to put my hand all the way at the front of the tester to see if I’m finding something hot…especially if I have a crowded spot with wires. Jbox, panel, trough, etc.

With the ground clip required, how is the DC version not inferior to a voltmeter, which would also show measured voltage (and might tell you there's a voltage-drop problem)?
    The AC version looks fine.

Alot of car work you just need to see if it's getting power easy as that. I prefer a power probe myself to turn on pumps ect. But for the size under a dash and no power required or hooked to the battery not bad for the size.
