The unfinished Bacons' on the back are worth much more than the O'Malleys' on the front.

There already is one. "Love Is The Devil" starring Derek Jacobi and Daniel Craig. I would like to see a full biopic though, approved by the FB estate.

9enius Lol, the full quote is even worse, unnecessarily redundant. And you got upset about someone half quoting...

I'm still waiting for the "click" or epiphany you get when you finally "get it" about some artistic genius like Shakespeare that everyone else seems to have already had long ago about Bacon. I'm still waiting :-)

Nicholas Fanzo I would be grateful if you could sum up in a few words what you see in his work ?

If you don't feel any kind of immediate impact from looking at Bacon's work, I'm afraid you'll never get it. Explanations trying to convince you otherwise are meaningless.

It really is a subconscious thing, if it's not an immediate smack to the face then you just don't have it in you to like them. You're not missing anything, and it's not an intellectual thing as some might try to sell it, it's just purely subconscious and not for everyone.

You couldn't sum up in a few words Shakespeare's work either... I think that the statement made by Bacon's painting was some sort of communion between the contemporary feeling of anxiety, isolation and doubt, and a bit of transgression against the standards of beauty in fine arts, remaining nonetheless haunting in a sublime - as opposition to grotesque, that it's also a bit - matter. That said, I think that people that sense some kind of sinister presence in life will feel his paintings deeply, as they convey a particular existential matter in a very direct and true way. I recommend Deleuze's "Logic of Sensation" if you want some theoretical/intellectual/philosophical reading on Bacon.
