    My transmission gave out last Wednesday on my way to school to take my midterm for automotive. my trailblazer wouldn't move in any gear so I knew the transmission had to come out. A shop was charging me 1500 to replace it for a used one. Thanks to this video, I had the courage and confidence to do this job myself. Not only did I remove the transmission, but I replaced it for a transmission from the junkyard that was 400. Yea it's not gonna be as good as a new or rebuilt one, but now if I ever have to replace it, I know I can do it for sure because I already done it before, and it was all thanks to you sir. Thank you for this video.

    Man I wish this video was here when my transmission blew. I regret getting rid of my trailblazer for a new car. Have put more money into a new Kia than I’ve ever had to put into my Trailblazer

    I’m getting here eventually. They can pry my 2008 from my cold dead hands. Just replaced everything cooling system wise except radiator, flushed ok, no visible damage either side. 128,000 going strong.

      Replaced my radiator and had the trans line pop off while driving. Emptied all the fluid, thankfully everything’s fine. See a lot of cooler videos say it helps. Good luck

    Good job getting that out, Nathan! While it's out, I would recommend replacing the flex plate. They are a known weak spot on these vehicles, and something tells me you don't want to do this again to replace it! I would also replace any seals on the engine that you can get to. Definitely replace the transmission fluid lines. Again, they are prone to rusting out, and they will be much easier to replace if the tranny isn't in the way. When I'm doing a job, I ask myself three questions about a part: 1. Is it prone to failure? 2. Is it prohibitively expensive? 3. Is it a real pain in the you know what to get too? If the answers are yes, no, and yes, it gets replaced. Thanks for posting this!

    I bought a RWD Trailblazer so that this and a lot of other repairs it would be easier. Bought it cheap cus it needed front suspension work. I replaced most of the front suspension parts . Fortunately my trans is ok so far. I replaced the brownish fluid through the dipstick tube. I did several exchanges to get a good amount of the old fluid out. A proper pan drop and new filter is on my to do list. Love the car.

    OK, so I lost count but I think this is your third Trailblazer...right? Why do you keep doing this to yourself Nathan? One rusted lump after another. Now for me, I'm the original owner of an '08 Trailblazer so I stopped with only one rusted lump. I just replaced the power steering cooler, fuel fill pipe, all sway bar links, both quick struts, upper/lower control arms with ball joints & rear shocks. What I removed was a big rusted pile of scrap. In all my 57 years, I've never seen a vehicle with so much rust in so many places. I live in Pennsylvania, but I've had lots of vehicles in my life and none have rusted as bad as this thing. Thanks for all the TB videos Nathan; you gave me the motivation to keep my TB going!

    • @FixingWithPassion
      @FixingWithPassion  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Actually this TB has a perfect frame out of all Tb's I've own. I've own 3 the the past 3 years and that's pretty normal for me swapping autos its just something I do... Most have some frame issues in the NE and it comes with the territory. As for the videos, its content to help everyone out even me when i forget and go back to look at my own videos.

    • @voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885
      @voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885 ปีที่แล้ว

      i've been doing phosphoric acid treatment and using a boroscope for inside the frame - and then paint and paraffin wax.... I got a 360 degree paraffin wax spray this time to make sure I covered the inside better. Took the bumper off to remove the rust off the rear - phosphoric acid gel spray left on overnight - and then painted it.

      Just worn useless piece of the U-JOINT. I’ve heavily kept an eye on my last Trailblazer U-Joint clip-looking-thing and it just rusted out. Didn’t hold a function, U-Joint still works, maybe it started scrapping or whacking. I’m on my 6th Trailblazer, I’ve sold 3-4

    great video!thanks for your trailblazer videos, I've watched a lot of them. I have one question: when installing the new/rebuilt transmission, the upper 2 holes of bell housing have the 2 cooling line brackets, how do you keep them from sandwiching in between the bell housing and engine flange?? my dad and I rebuilt my ascenders transmission and every single time we lift the transmission, the brackets gets stuck in between. how did you get the transmission back on without the 2 brackets getting in the way?

    • @K1NGPUFF

      @@K1NGPUFF in the middle bolt holes of bell housing on right and left side is the dowel ( 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock ) you just have to kind of grab the transmission and shake it/ jiggle it profusely as your tugging and go back and forth from the 3 and 9 o clock bolt holes prying with pry bar . Once you get it started it’ll start coming alot more easy .
      Take a lesson from me , when reinstalling new one , triple, quadruple check your torque converter is fully seated before you bolt up bell housing . If you hear a popping noise when bolting it back up it’s done , and you have to replace the transmission pump . I had to replace it twice . Jiggle and push the torque converter in till it seats a little further . Then jiggle and push it in a second time it will fully seat in even a little further . Make sure it doesn’t slide back out some when lifting tranny and mating bell housing .
      Good luck

      @@zacharyvaughn8135 thank you so much i appreciate this a lot 💯💯💯 I hope it’s not too hard and this job becomes natural to me. I appreciate you’re advice and tips I def was thinking the exact same thing and the torque converter is my biggest scare. I’m hoping taking the transmission out and putting a Junkyard one in won’t be a straight nightmare.
      Also what’s the transmission pump? You had to replace it twice you said? Also how long did this job take you and did you use Jackstands/jacks

    Great video brother. I have a question, does the "new/used" trans need to be programed before or after install or is plug n play?

      No programing needed.

    • @K1NGPUFF
      @K1NGPUFF 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not if you get the exact same one. I believe it’s like 2002-2005 than 2006-2010 two different types but maybe that’s just the Motors in these trucks. But double check plugs and if you have TRACTION CONTROL wise idea to make sure the one you putting in has it same with 4WD!

    What city/state are you in? How much $$$ to take one out & replace the cooler lines while you have it opened up? That didn't look that rusty. I've seen the result of someone take it out with the transfer case and the crossmember still attached. I don't think I can do the job...(handicapped.)
