  • I have to open up the front of this generac generator to inspect the fuel plenum. I show how to open up the generator to access the plenum. Generac over engineered this access this section of the generator. Luckily a couple years ago they changed the design making it easier to get into the gas/ battery compartment of the

I normally pull the battery, pull the shroud, and from there you can check with a scope. Where I work it's really wet and most of the plenums have rust between the bracket and tank. As long as the gas piping is done correctly I can inspect and replace in about 15-20 minutes.

That's not over-engineered, it's under-engineered. I wonder how they put these together on a production line?

I have a 17kw. When it was about 4 years old it began taking longer and longer to start until it wouldn't start. I called the dealer and 3 days later they said my tank had rusted through and was leaking. he said their was a recall but they wouldn't cover mine. They charged me $900.00 . He did say the new one was a better one. I hope.

    • @NSarg04

They robbed you. The recall is covered by generac, parts and labor

I'm in the market for a good Battery Checker, since there is no way you can look at a battery to tell if it is about to die. Battery voltage alone is not a good indicator of the batteries health. So could you recommend a Battery checker. Thanks, keep up the Great videos, Great informational stuff. Happy Holidays!!

Spray flex sealer rubberized spray paint and capsulate the whole fuel plenum body and call it a day 😊

What are some things to routinely check on a GENERAC 22kw generator from your experiences please, besides the usual oil/spark plug/filters? I know you addressed this issue with a Kohler unit in a previous video. Thank you

Pull the top, unbolt the control with the bracket, swing it over the top, two ten mm on the bottom of the side(leave the back one, two ten mm off the plastic and all the room in the world. I do these in 18-20 mins with just a dewalt 1/4 impact

    • @sbond1963

Just wondering. Have an 8KW propane and need to get to the pressure regulator. Similar problem water has rotted the side panel bolts. Is there any reason why I can’t remove the control panel on top and go in that way?

the battery may have been out gassing some and causing the gas detector to go off by the regulator or it could be "passing gas" lol. sine there shouldn't be any pressure there wit the solenoid shut.

I have not had good luck with the two "New" Generac 22 kW generators I am installing. The first one will not display on the control board. My conclusion and the Tech support said that is was bad as well now 3 weeks to get a replacement. Moving on to the second generator the generator cranks but will not start another tech problem on a layout of 11,000.00. Next time Kohler will be my selection of choice.

You don't need to remove all what he has removed. Remove the 2 screws on the black cover to the left of the fuel regulator. remove the battery. remove the black cover.. you now have full access to the fuel plenum..shut off the fuel, remove fuel line, remove the 2 bolts holding down the fuel reg/plenum. disconnect the 2 wires on the coil. remove 2 black fuel hoses.. process from removal to new install takes approx. 30 minutes.....

I have to remove the two bolts on that plastic air deflector and bend/wiggle it over the top of the battery to remove it. Then the battery can get to an angle where it will come out. Then bend wiggle the air deflector back in place.

On the left side of the battery are two 10mill bolts that hold on the black plastic cowling. Pull those and at the bottom corner nearest you is a clip, break that off with a flat head, battery slide right out.
