Hey Matt i doubt youll ever read this but 3 years ago you saved my life. I was sitting in my dodge pickup with a loaded 9mm lookin at the barrel. My mother was going through stage 4 luekmia and I was about to give it all up. I received a call i was having a little girl. She's now 3 and because of you i have took up country singin and playin guitar. Mama was so happy and i havent seen a smile that big in many years. For the first time she got out of that bed and walked. She did not walk for many months, because of that little girl she gained strength. Sadly mamma lost her battle but your song reminds me every day to keep fighting. Remmeber the name cause one day we will meet and i hope i can be on stage together. JW Harris sir. God bless and much obliged.

I doubt you’ll ever read this but your song saved my life and I wasn’t the one who heard it. My wife left me and I decided to do it and your song came on on my friends radio and prompted him to call me. I was in the middle of nowhere and have no idea how his call came through but I’m glad it did. I’ve been married again now for a few years and she’s made my life ten times if not a hundred times better than anything I ever thought I would have.

Even though it’s been 6 years since you wrote this comment, please share this with your friend. And before you disqualify it as “too much time has passed” or “it wouldn’t make a difference if I did”, hear me out.
As humans, we ALL want to know that we made a difference in another’s life - a positive difference. Many times we don’t find that out directly, sometimes we do. But when you’ve got the chance to tell your BEST FRIEND…..man, DO IT! You never know when thoughts could be going through his head at some point during his life when HE’S struggling - wondering “what the hell difference do I make”, etc. Don’t ever think you truly KNOW, EVERYTHING a person is going through. After all…..he doesn’t even know what hard time YOU were going through, so badly that YOU were struggling with ending it. He never knew. 😉
“Make that call.” 😉 It’ll do your heart REAL good. Trust me.

My friend took her Life. The day before she did I had a feeling I should have called her. I never did. It is the single greatest regret of my life. I could have stopped her. Ever since then I have always followed through. A couple of months ago, I was able to talk my girlfriend out of a suicide attempt. I know God lives. I hope y'all make the call, don't ever ignore what God tells you.

He jokes around like there is nothing wrong at days, then there are days when he is unable to get out of bed. He told me one day that we were all that keep him going. Now he is 40 and has his dream car ( challenger) and he just sit in it and barely goes anywhere because he is always in pain. I now realize I have one hell of a father

I speak out of experience when I say that those calls have made me change my mind on more then one occasion. I thank you guys for all you did for me in those times. I will always respect and look up to you. You guys really saved me from myself. I love you guys. Hope we can have another guys week out in the forest. You guys are great.

I was saved 25 years ago when my 6 year old daughter called me and asked if she could come over and hang out with me. It wasn't my weekend to have her but I knew at that point, she needed me and how selfish it would to leave her with no daddy. Now, her and I are super close and I even have a 9 month old granddaughter who has me wrapped around her finger.

    Pain comes and goes.
Life is here and gone you don’t get another shot at life when you end it.
The pain might end for you but you pass it to others.
    You are strong enough.
    You are good enough.
    You are not alone.
    People love you.
    Don’t do it.

A couple of weeks ago I broke down, I’m 20 years old and been through hell growing up but I was never the type to complain I did whatever I had to do to better my situation, I lost one of my buddies to him killing himself and another body to him being murdered, I was never wanted as a child my mom gave me to my grandparents and they passed away in the same year a couple of months apart when I was 7, then I started living with my mom and I know then she wanted me now but something always made me feel like I never belonged anywhere in this world and I always delt with that growing up, and to this day it affects my relationship and my friends and I always feel like I never belong, so I try to be funny and smile and do whatever I can to make people laugh and be loud and goofy, and well since I was 18 I left my moms and started working in the oilfields of Texas and I been doing this for 2 years now and I just never wanted a handout and I never asked nobody for nothing I did whatever I could to get it myself and well I ended up getting a truck and a apartment and that meant a lot to me cause growing up my family was poor and I used to have to eat like a orange or a apple a day when we didn’t have school so me and my little sisters can eat or I would I have to not eat at all so they can at least have food in there stomach, and so getting a apartment And truck meant a lot to me and I cherished it a lot well I always felt like I didn’t belong anywhere growing up and that caused me to push away the love of my life and hurt her and tear her down and it caused me to drink a lot and drink away my emotions and push everything aside and get angry at times and say and do things to hurt everybody in my path, so everything started going downhill I lost my woman the oilfield started slowing down and I was on the verge of losing my job our hours got cut so I couldn’t pay my lights my rent my truck I got a eviction notice and everything was just pushing me back down and ruining everything, well I called my woman and told you I’m Ending it all and I hung up, I took a bottle of pills and laid on the ground crying missing my grandparents and I swolled the whole bottle well I laid on the floor and I passed out and I don’t remember anything after that, the next thing I remember is my girl had her fingers down my throat making me throw up and her holding me and now Im here 1 month later back on top and back trying to become a better man, I learned to never give up, never stop having faith in God and never let the demons get a hold of you, to keep fighting and that better days will come. I pray for everybody that’s willing to take there life, don’t do it I love you your family loves you and no matter what you belong here and you’ll always belong here. I love you all and thank you for reading my story if you read it this far. 💙

At 15 years old, I was done with everything. The guy I loved left me, it felt like my mom didnt care, my step dad was abusive, the list goes on. I tried overdosing on pills. I got lucky. I didnt take enough. It was a failed attempt. But had it not been, I wouldnt have know that my oldest was going to make his appearance into the world in 7 months. Things got better. I realized my mom cared but was going through her own stuff and was having her own difficulties. She left her now ex husband, I married the man I was in love with back then and we're now waiting on our 3rd child. Things still get rough sometimes, but I'm so glad things turned out the way they did.

Make sure you let your brother know that you love him and once he is old enough to understand, make sure he knows that if it wasn't for him, you wouldn't be here to be his older sibling. I know what you mean by you couldn't for that in front of him, I'm 15 and have 5 younger siblings. I could never take my life in front of any of them. I have very seriously contemplated suicide. I still do occasionally. I've been struggling for over a year with depression and anxiety, believe me, it's not easy.

This is the truth. My dad committed suicide when i was 17. It was a Saturday morning. He called me at 5 am, I was at my best friends house. Being a teenager, i didnt think much of it. He woke up at 4-5 usually. I answered and said "dad are you Crazyyy its 5 am." And laughed. He said "oh sorry were you sleeping?" I with a teenage attitude said "obviously dad. Can i call you when the suns up". I talked to him at about 9. At 11:30 i felt sick, i told mt best friend i had to leave and go check on my dad something felt off. I got there and he had committed suicide. Thankfully when i arrived he wasnt deceased so he didnt die alone. He died holding my hand knowing that i loved him more than anything and appreciated everything he did being both the parents i needed on his own. The ambulance arrived and he passed. I wish I wouldnt have made him feel like a bother that morning. I had NO IDEA what he was feeling. Maybe he called to talk it through. We were best friends. I wish he would have just told me to quit being a brat. Or that i would have known. I just thought he was calling to see if i had fun for my birthday the night before.

I called everyone in my phone, 1 guy answrred the call and invited me over, he is the reason im here today. He heard the hurt in my voice and invited me to his place, no one else including my girl friend of the time cared enough. I now live my life in a way to give back to him and his actions. You are so right. I am elderly and I know what its like to not have visitors. To be fair, I do live a ways from most who I care about. They are raising families and have jobs, trying to make ends meet. So itis understandable that I do not see them often. And I love them just the same. So, I spend a lot of time with phone visits with some who are shut-ins, disabled, etc. It may sound like I think I'm so special. But NO! But I do feel blessed. And loved. And it makes me feel useful and it does make me feel uplifted. God is good!

22 is only a partial estimate from less than half of the states. Not to mention the VA hides information....I've lost way too many brothers from it and it still hurts thinking of it.

Listened to this song 100 times. It never hits any different, always call someone when you're thinking of them. There is a reason.
