Great video Jack, I’d literally read a Hagerty article about this earlier this evening and posted it on Classic Petrol Heads to gauge reaction from our members. I’ll link this video in too. Personally, I really like it and was a fan of the original Tom Walkinshaw cars back in the 80s when I was a teenager. This is something very ‘grown up’ in the restomod sector and I would love to see it become a success for TWR.
Oh My God, that is amazing. Forget any modern Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Aston etc that is a thing of beauty. Always loved the XJS that is great. Love it
As an ex XJS V12 owner and a visitor to LeMans from 1987 to 1994, not sure about this! Looks more like a Trans Am but maybe it’s been built for the US market!
I like it. It’s unashamedly a big bruiser of a car a true British beast. Very cool. Love the analogue switch gear and functionality of the whole package.
I absolutely love the XJS, probably my favourite classic/modern classic type of car. I know it's had a lot of historic hate which I honestly don't understand at all, maybe i'm the wrong generation. I sort of like this. Well I like that someone is finally doing something exciting with the XJS. Not too sure on the styling tho which I think is maybe slightly over the top? vented buttresses are ace tho. That engine, but in a modern interpretation of the more 'GT' with some subtle tweaks to the original XJS would have been perfect to me! But then I get they have to change it 'enough' to justify the price etc. EDIT - actually i've changed my mind after watching the full vid, I love it

Fantastic vid Jack ! Really love this car too. I think it looks brilliant and really hits the spot. Specialist restomods [not sure that's the right word for this kind of car] are really starting to gain traction with MST Escorts, Alfaholic, Singer etc... producing stunningly brilliant machines.
I think the XJS was one of the most beautiful cars ever made! A more subtle restomod would be a fantastic car. I just jumped on eBay and the cars are readily available in the U.S. for hardly any money. Could be a fun project!
Love it, but i do wonder if the aero really works. As far as i know any angle above 11° causes turbulant air and that buttress is definitely more than 11°.
Stunning on multiple levels. How it looks, the engineering and design. Ive a tinge of sadness too. I immediately recalled Walkinshaws performace Holden Commodore 1988 and this jag symbolises a time when we (like Britain), really made cars. No longer. My last jag had leather seats that felt like a cheap Indian horse saddle. Its marvelous to see this jag imo
TWR should have taken the engine out to 6.0ltrs as it was they that helped Jaguar with creating the later XJR 6.0ltr V12? Either way though the car looks and sounds incredible! What a truly stunning car! I always dreamed of having a massively modified XJS V12 in my lottery winning dreamcar garage and now TWR have built it.
The XJS is my all-time favourite Jag, with only the Broadspeed XJ12c running it close. What TWR have done for the XJS is similar to the way Broadspeed beefed up the XJ12c and elevates it to the top of the XJS ladder. I eagerly anticipate you getting behind the wheel of one and bringing us your report, and it would be especially brilliant if you were able to back-to-back it with a Lister seven litre, the best modified version available during the span of XJS as a current model.
I have a 1990 XJS, Jaguarsport XJRS 6.0 V12 built by TWR and Jaguar. This could be its replacement. Until i found it was 10 times the value of my old one.
Love it! Kyleem's done a fantastic job on the design of it, and the lads have done an incredible job with the engineering. If I had the money, I would be ordering one straight-away! 😍😊👍
Tbh it's rougly the same price as a modern lamborghini (I think) but I'd much rather drive a racing-pedigree driver-focussed car like this, than the gen-z youtuber mascot supercar
Good to see it being revamped and brought back…but as a revamped XJS albeit under the TWR name it will not sell many and will end up as an expensive vanity project. TWR initially used this car as it was available at the time - any new TWR should do the same and establish TWR agin in its own right for engineering greatness.
Great looking car but my first question would be is there a 6 litre facelift option? The car looks dated at the rear due to having the early tail lights.
I was never a big fan of the original XJS, the face lift was a bit better. This car looks great though and most definitely gives a nod to TWR racing heritage. A lot of thought has obviously gone into it, the 'flying buttresses' look great and you can't help thinking that Jaguar could have done something like this on the original car. I suspect cost was a factor with Jaguar. Great video Jack and very interesting interviews. 👍👍
I think that, as a few people have already commented,. the bodykit aspects are a tad OTT but, other than that, kudos to TWR for investing in this rebirth of a deserved classic. Next up, how about a similar renaissance for the Rover SD1 ?
@the_kyza knocked it for six with this one. I love that it rectifies the classic poor designs of old jags - big on the outside, cramped on the inside. Never understood how Jag could get interior spacing so wrong.
Love the revised rear window area, the original design was definitely awkward. It has been a long time since I last sat in an XJS, that was definitely more of a cruiser than a race car. Very impressive that this is so much lighter, a shame we did not get to listen to the engine. A bit too large and conspicuous for me but very nicely done.
I thought they were beautiful back in the day but this thing is stunning. Reminds me of the reworked Volvo 1800 project. Both cars, back in their day, had the 'it' Factor. Today, the reworked cars have the 'holy shit factor'. Beautiful car
in the first seconds of the video I said "XJ 220" 😁. having been at TWR in 1985 as part of a team of 5 building the Group C XJR-6 engine, I can only wish Fergus and his partners the very best of luck in their venture and the resurrection of the TWR brand. Tom was a great inspiration and I have fond memories of the time, like blasting Toms own XJS through Oxfordshire to pick up some timing chain slipper plates in a hurry and taking the 'works hack' Rover Vitesse out with next seasons twin-plenum race engine under the bonnet.
Clearly some arent fans. I have to say, I do quite like it. The TWR that won Bathurst etc is cool, but this muscular reinterpretation makes you wonder what could've been in DRM or DTM or even Le Mans in a GT category. The split ducktail spoiler is lovely, as are the newly formed flying buttresses.
I was going to refer the designer to Specsavers but think that a more appropriate reference would be to recall the scene from "Saving private Ryan" where Tom Hanks suggests remembering a brother by an event & Matt Damon recalls finding his bro in a barn with a girl that looked like she'd fallen from the ugly tree & hit every branch on the way down. This car is an homage to that fictional girl.
It is a bit over the top, but it is something ill expect from Gran Turismo 1 or 2 when you put a racing body kit to the car. Its growing on me, must be amazing to check this thing out!
Wow!! Now that's a fine looking,....and performing Jag XJS!!! I have always had a soft spot for the old XJS and over the years the improvements made by different companies or by enthusiasts has kept the car relevant. This however, is a colossal leap forward for the old girl, 650-ish BHP and over 700NM of torque,......oh Yes Please!!!! I don't suppose you managed to take it out and stretch it's legs did you, Jack? I do wonder though, what they could do for a sleeper car that no one would ever suspect, like an XJS but without the louvers on the bonnet and a bit less of the "Look at ME!!" aesthetic. OK Dave, you're saying, what do you have in mind? Well how about all the weight savings and chassis upgrades but keep the car as close looking to stock as possible, and instead of the V12, what about using the 4.0l Six as a base and bore it out, fix it with all the goodies and the bolt a supercharger to it that gives boost to the engine from idle to say 4000rpm and that gives enough time for the two turbochargers to spool up and take over from 4K to redline at 8K or so maybe higher? I would think the big six would crank out every bit of 500 - 600hp and roughly the same ft-lbs of torque, and what you'd have is a sleek, stylish sleeper that could scare the daylights out of Aston and Ferrari owners!! Then though, I do tend to dream a lot. - Dave
I like the XJS as it is/was,this version is obviously a beast but I would be happy with a bog standard XJS in great condition, a real mile muncher that doesn't rearrange your spine.

I like it. I love the tech they have used in suspension and drive train. The body design is ...... well extream, but I could live with it.
Now that is new Jaguar worth buying and not an electric motor in sight 👍👍🇦🇺
Now I’m really sad I don’t have the money to buy one 😢😢
It is stunning 😍
I think that, as a few people have already commented,. the bodykit aspects are a tad OTT but, other than that, kudos to TWR for investing in this rebirth of a deserved classic. Next up, how about a similar renaissance for the Rover SD1 ?
... wouldn't be seen dead in this horror show! 😬
Absolutely stunning I like many others cant believe that Jaguar have killed the Jaguar and this is the rebrand that should have happened.
What a stunning car! It is a breath of fresh air in our current world, which is flooded with Chinese electric, soulless vehicles. I love it!
@the_kyza knocked it for six with this one. I love that it rectifies the classic poor designs of old jags - big on the outside, cramped on the inside. Never understood how Jag could get interior spacing so wrong.
Do you remember Wide-body version from Koenig Specials? Here it comes in 21. Century reinkarnation and What a Spectacular Machine! 😲
I've always loved the xjs and it's great to see this post
Love the revised rear window area, the original design was definitely awkward. It has been a long time since I last sat in an XJS, that was definitely more of a cruiser than a race car. Very impressive that this is so much lighter, a shame we did not get to listen to the engine. A bit too large and conspicuous for me but very nicely done.
I thought they were beautiful back in the day but this thing is stunning. Reminds me of the reworked Volvo 1800 project. Both cars, back in their day, had the 'it' Factor. Today, the reworked cars have the 'holy shit factor'. Beautiful car
I’d love all that technology, power and upgrades in a pre HE looking XJS.
That's a thing of vulgar and aggressive beauty. Good on you Jack for getting this exclusive look & publicity. I love the interior detailing on it.
in the first seconds of the video I said "XJ 220" 😁. having been at TWR in 1985 as part of a team of 5 building the Group C XJR-6 engine, I can only wish Fergus and his partners the very best of luck in their venture and the resurrection of the TWR brand.
Tom was a great inspiration and I have fond memories of the time, like blasting Toms own XJS through Oxfordshire to pick up some timing chain slipper plates in a hurry and taking the 'works hack' Rover Vitesse out with next seasons twin-plenum race engine under the bonnet.
Wow.. incredible to hear you were involved! Thanks for watching
I love the XJS but that is truly on another level.
Cool vid. Very cool.
Great video Jack,I love it I can’t see a thing wrong with it 👍
Lets hope Jaguar regain their magic, thanks Jack 🙏🙏
Designed with input from Magnus Walker of outlaw Porsche fame? Interesting indeed.
Magnificent car regardless! Hoping you get some wheel-time with it.
Absolutely Stunning! Well done TWR! It's A cool Monster let it rip boys! 🎉
Love the aero on that and the side exit exhaust. guess the lhd is to target the usa market.
Still prefer the lister le mans for an aggressive jag.
TG got the first vid out.... Now jack🎉... Awesome bud😊🙏🇮🇳
Stunning car in every way
Awesome. I love the original and now we have this. The super charged V12 is original, what is not to love.
Its so easy to get these type of builds wrong. Nice to see one done right.
One of my favourite all time cars the XJS
Whoa! I would say take my money now, but I would need to sell my house and maybe a kidney or two to afford it. Awesome work TWR!
this could be the last new jag...
but it needs to be in BRG to tone down those bodylines, 'cos they ain't the best
excellent scoop young man
Genius, its how it shouldve been made , really remarkable
