1. God Did 2. Come Home the Kids Miss You 3. Total Xanarchy 4. Revival 5. The Big Day 6. Certified Lover Boy 7. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind 8. Father of Asahd 9. It’s Only Me 10. Every Pitbull album (couldn’t pick just one)
W list, thank god you didn't included Kendrick, Kanye, Jay-Z, 2pac, MF DOOM, Biggie or Dr. Dre, those trash rappers don't deserve to be in the top 10 in anyone's list
Illmatic is perfect. Every single track is an icon. It encapsulates a moment in time from which an entire genre developed. You can pretty much remove everything that came before it, and hip hop would still have the necessary means to develop into what it is today.
I think ive underrated rza's production in the past, liquid swords' sound is nasty. But what makes it great for me is gza's lyricism, some of the hardest verses ive ever heard
@@keenobaerry3195 I can understand why 36 chambers is on both their top 10’s, as for the most part it is the most well know and iconic wutang album , however I do agree that Liquid Swords is way more polished compared to 36 chambers
Love these lists. I’m shocked at Anthony’s #1. I like 2001 but I do feel like they are very skippable tracks on the 2nd part of that album. But when it hits it’s timeless music
The first half of 2001 is a masterpiece, the second part sucks, the album should've ended with The Next Episode and had Let's Get High as a bonus, the rest of the album fucking sucks
@@underkanal3656 I was just trying to be nice to Dre but yeah it really is a fall off 😂😂 i liked the Halloween sample on murder ink but the rest can go honestly
No particular order but here are 10 of my favorite hip hop albums 1. Madvillainy - Madvillian 2. To Pimp A Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar 3. The Eminem Show - Eminem 4. Enter The Wu-Tang - Wu-Tang Clan 5. Illmatic - Nas 6. Ready To Die - The Notorious B.I.G 7. The College Dropout - Kanye West 8. Straight Outta Compton - N.W.A 9. Get Rich Or Die Tryin - 50 Cent 10. Doggystyle - Snoop Dogg
like i may just be some white guy from a different country however i would say TPAB for the simple reason that it made me try to understand and appreciate rap music on a deeper level. growing up with families like mine completely denouncing the genre then stumbling across this masterpiece one day that made me appreciate not only the songs but also the culture and the backgrounds of these individuals was mindblowing. furthermore i dont know if anyone has or will pack this much density of concepts into one album ever.
I feel like this is a pretty good take. Alot of these all time lists are from americans. And ofc theyre opinions have atleast the same value as me a foreigner holds. But i feel like alot of these people dont understand how Kendrick made this kinda darker Hip-Hop tracks more accessable over seas. For quite some times now is kendrick rated high in Europe and africa for example. His lyrics are not just how he sho*ts people but he tells the whole story behind it completed with not only trap beats but with Blues, Jazz and Funk wich even some parents here started to listen to after the Compton music kinda got the "its devils music" stamp on after NWA.
my top 10 1 ilmatic-nas 2 tpab-kendrick lamar 3 the chronic-dr dre 4 madvilliany-mf doom 5 my beatiful dark twisted fantasy-kanye west 6 36 chambers-wu tang clan 7 mmlp-eminem 8 2001-dr dre 9 graduation-kanye west 10 black on both sides-mos def
Am the only tribe fan that thinks beats rhymes and life is their best album. Phony rappers is the perfect opening track that embodies the essence of battle rap and story telling beautifully. Phife snapped on this album and the production is second to none. Tunes like the pressure, mind power and the hop. All tribe fans need to re listen to this masterpiece!
Supreme Clientele by Ghostface, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx by Raekwon, my beautiful dark twisted fantasy, the Chronic. it's a tight list from both of y'all. You guys bring more and more love for rap music. Appreciate y'all ❤️

Such a tough list to make so props for taking it on. Some great picks from 5-10 but I think it got less objective in the top 5. But including madvillianly and aquemini was 👌🔥
Good list by both. My personal Top 10 rap Albums of all time.... 1. Me against the world- 2pac 2. Life After Death- Biggie 3. The Chronic- Dr Dre 4. It was Written- Nas 5. The Infamous- Mobb Deep 6. I love you guys even more. Thank you so much for the vivid descriptions and in-depth commentary. I’m surprised either of you didn’t have a Kanye album.
Haven’t seen this album brought up in the comments at all but Atrocity Exhibition is definitely in my top ten. Such an Unconventional and haunting album with chaotic and Experimental Production and excellent writing that gives off one of the most Harrowing pieces of media I’ve ever consumed. It’s seriously a terrifying masterpiece.
Its brilliant but id put it like top 30 maybe top 20. There has been better experimental production but its a great gateway album for younger hiphop fans to alt/experimental hiphop.
I will think I am more of an Ant guy than a Luca guy in one video and the they release something else and Luca takes the top spot again and the cycle continues. Fantastic platform. Every video is excellent. Keep it up
Madvillain- Madvillainy Biggie- Ready to Die A Tribe Called Quest- We got it from Here… Thank you for your Service Kendrick Lamar- To Pimp a Butterfly Delinquent Habits- It Could Be Round Two Fugees- The Score J. Cole- 4 your eyes only Tyler, The Creator- Flower Boy Moob Deep- the Imfamous OutKast- Aquemini Eminem- The Marshall Mathers Lp
The best part about the video is when luca is talking about illmatic, he mentions rhymeschemes from ny state of mind (either willingly or accidentally) for example saying that he set the plateau or that he feels like a trapped rodent, i almost cried and i dont even know why
1. Illmatic 2. Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambere) 3. Ready to Die 4. Reasonable Doubt 5. Me Against the World 6. The Marshal Mathers LP 7. To Pimp a Butterfly 8. Only Bult for Cuban Links 9. Pinata by Freddie Gibbs / Madlib 7. Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown 8. Be by Common 9. Illmatic by Nas 10. The Renaissance by Q Tip Miseducation slots in at #3 if it is considered hip hop
NFR COMING WITH ANOTHER GREAT LIST. W for Lu putting 2 Kendrick albums I respect it. One thing that stood out to me was Lu saying Kendrick may not be a top 10 rapper because "DAMN. and MMATBS aren't on the same level" but I feel like thats not 100% fair. Rappers like Nas have one top 10 album and he hasn't had the batting average Kendrick has had. Kdot has 0 albums that aren't at least amazing, even according to your guys' reviews. People tend to be unfairly critical of him because he likely will never touch those back to back albums. Also, when we look at his 2 recent albums, his rapping is still incredibly strong and the strong suit of those albums - he clearly has longevity. So he's had 2 of the highest highs of any rapper, 3 amazing albums to back them up, and unreal concepts and unique songs that no one else had tapped into. Overall I think its only fair to put him top 10 and I genuinely think you can make a good argument for top 5. Edit: Btw im not saying hes better than Nas but just a point to make about Kendrick's dominance and one of his skills that are unmatched - album/song writing.
1. Illmatic by Nasty Nas 2. The Greatest Adventures Of Slick Rick by Slick Rick 3. Be by Common 4. Tupacalypse by 2pac 5. The Blueprint by Jay-Z 7. Good Kid Maad City by Kendrick 8. The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill 9. Aquemeni by Outkast 10. The 18th letter by Rakim
My list is susceptible to drastic change almost every other week tbh, But as of this moment I'll say: 1. Nas - Illmatic 2. Eminem - MMLP 3. Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle 4. Kendrick Lamar - TPAB 5. Madvillian - Madvillainy 6. Kanye West - Graduation 7. Wu Tang - 36 Chambers 8. JPEGMAFIA - Veteran 9. Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique 10. Freddie Gibbs - Pinata
My Top 10 (in no order) 1. Ready to Die 2. All Eyes on Me 3. It Was Written 4. Get Rich or Die Trying 5. College Dropout 6. The Black Album 7. MBDTF 8. Cole World Sideline Story 9. Good Kid Mad City 10. Graduation
@Vernon Johnson listen to some MF DOOM, Andre 3k, Lupe fiasco, Black Thought and J Cole. All better lyricists by a margin and more versatile. Rakim is one dimensional as fuck. He’s flow is choppy, he’s repetitive, there’s overused patterns if you listen to the beat choices on paid in full unlike a graduation or gkmc
I never fully agree with your guys’ picks but I still love every video because of the depth of the conversation that shows the love and passion for music
01.) 2Pac - All Eyez on me 02.) 50 Cent - Get rich or die tryin 03.) Jay-Z - Blueprint 04.) Mobb Deep - The Infamous 05.) Eminem - Slim Shady LP 06.) Notorious BIG - Ready to Die 07.) Moment of Truth is the most underrated hip hop album of all time. Never hear anyone talk about that album or Gang Starr. Literally in my top ten albums
To pimp a butterfly without a doubt. Track by track it is the most expansive hip hop album of time. So many genres, lyrically and topically it is such a raw yet beautiful experience. If I had to present humanity's greatest contribution to the world to some martians it would be TPAB.

@Vernon Johnson paid in full I don’t think people have heard tbh. I never see it on any lists it’s crazy. 1987 bro like whaaat. Rakim coming in with those flows. Crazy
I dig both lists! Amazing picks! And I totally agree with the Kendrick love! Kendrick Lamar is the best rapper of all time and there is nothing that can be said or done to change that!
@@treyway6301 Bro, everybody is subjective and biased. It’s human nature like MJ said! 😂 But seriously, when it comes to rap and music in general it’s hard to say who is the BEST because there are many things we need to take into consideration. But the fact that K-Dot released only amazing albums and has already two or three classics and he is just 5 albums in….with Pulitzer and grammy awards and critical acclaim and all these songs that nobody else is capable to write and create….too many arguments….different concepts every album….the GOAT, simply the GOAT
@@andreicutar9959 Kanye has more than 3 classic albums yet he's not the goat? It's subjective but in terms of influence it's em snoop and pac. But in terms of lyrical its nas lupe mf doom and kdot. There are many rappers with 10/10 lyrical ability I.e pac kdot biggie nas etc.
@@treyway6301 I agree with Kanye bro, he is top 5 top 3 for sure. Production is amazing when it comes to Yeezy, as we all know, but lyrical ability, music quality and concepts….Kendrick is superior. Kanye is one of my favs tho, lots of respect for his work!

Really solid list, the only thing about it is that it doesn't include many underground albums, so it would be cool to see a top 10 underground list. I think there are some absolute gems to be mentioned, artists like Immortal Technique, Aesop Rock, El-P, Jean Grae are some of my favorite artists and absolutely deserve their flowers, even if it may not have had the biggest cultural impact.
the lack of any Mos Def mention when talking about the greatest hip hop albums ever is insane. Nothing compares to Black on Both Sides. i fw Luca's list (and overall taste) heavy though, A Tribe Called Quest is a must in any top 10

Madvillainy- this album was the reason i fell in love with music production, one of the most creative and hard to replicate albumss ever 3. illmatic - nasty mf nas. 2. reasonable doubt- jay z, not a single miss, like big i think jay z’s prime was his early years 1. to pimp a butterfly - too many words to explain, but probably pretty self explanatory

You already know😎
Excellent point
I don't think Illmatic would have been made without Artists like Gang Starr though
@Critique Everything Right Nas even said he was inspired by Kool G on Wave gods
It was written is better
Thank you for dropping aqeumini , such a classic album. The beats were ground breaking, the flows were experimental just a all round amazing project.
Really respect Lou’s take here. Having both gkmc and tpab in there.
Hes a massive kendrick fan so it makes sense
Wasn’t expecting you guys to have Let’s Start Here at number one but I respect it 🔥🔥🙏🏼

Liquid Swords is up there for me personally, something about how rough it sounds plays so well with the album and the content within
One of the best albums ever made
I think ive underrated rza's production in the past, liquid swords' sound is nasty. But what makes it great for me is gza's lyricism, some of the hardest verses ive ever heard
i thought it was crazy they have 36 chambers so high but not liquid swords, to me it's a more polished wutang
That’s a comfortable number one
@@keenobaerry3195 I can understand why 36 chambers is on both their top 10’s, as for the most part it is the most well know and iconic wutang album , however I do agree that Liquid Swords is way more polished compared to 36 chambers
Love these lists. I’m shocked at Anthony’s #1. I like 2001 but I do feel like they are very skippable tracks on the 2nd part of that album. But when it hits it’s timeless music
Yeah first half of 2001 is an absolute top 10, but the second half doesn’t even make the top 50
@@brettrigby2314 yeah I feel it’s aged a bit poorly. I think either one of Ye’s best or any Wu Tang member’s best solo work trumps 2001
The first half of 2001 is a masterpiece, the second part sucks, the album should've ended with The Next Episode and had Let's Get High as a bonus, the rest of the album fucking sucks

Lu's description of illmatic is spot on. I couldn't agree more, Illmatic is the blueprint for hiphop.
like i may just be some white guy from a different country however i would say TPAB for the simple reason that it made me try to understand and appreciate rap music on a deeper level. growing up with families like mine completely denouncing the genre then stumbling across this masterpiece one day that made me appreciate not only the songs but also the culture and the backgrounds of these individuals was mindblowing. furthermore i dont know if anyone has or will pack this much density of concepts into one album ever.

Interesting choice to put Total Xanarchy by California rapper Lil Xan as your #1 album from both of you but I respect it
Really solid list, the only thing about it is that it doesn't include many underground albums, so it would be cool to see a top 10 underground list.

Agreed, mos def in his prime was arguably the greatest ever

9. vaudeville villain - i personally think this is madvillainys only competitive for top album in DOOMS discography
8. All Eyez on Me- pacs best record easily, too many hits to count
7. The Infamous - Prodigy is one of the purest rapping voices i ever heard, amazing beats too
6. 36 chambers - fell in love with songs like CREAM, 7th chamber and protect ya neck from a young age, best group album of all time
5. pinata - MAYBE too high but i believe freddie is the best product of the 2010s besides kendrick, unmatchable rapping ability with impeccable production
4. Madvillainy- this album was the reason i fell in love with music production, one of the most creative and hard to replicate albumss ever
3. illmatic - nasty mf nas.
2. reasonable doubt- jay z, not a single miss, like big i think jay z’s prime was his early years
1. to pimp a butterfly - too many words to explain, but probably pretty self explanatory
DISCLAIMER: this is only off albums ive listened to, so albums like ready to die, the chronic n a lot of others on here ive never fully listened to, im 15 n havent heard a ton of music so any recommendations would be appreciated!
