I used T25 hex for behind steering wheel, then T10 rest of the way. I had to purchase a T10 specific screwdriver - my normal bitset was too thick. A longer neck Torx bit is useful to clear the steering wheel adjustment knob and turning light stalk when take those screws out. I DID NOT bother disconnecting the batteries and didn't get any codes. 2012 E350. Do so at your own risk. It looks like you can get more clearance by disassembling the air bag further, but this is a bad idea I think. Better to pay $2 shipped for a T10 screwdriver
Great video, thanks for sharing! The only thing that I would add is that I had to reset the computer, because it was giving me a driver side airbag SRS malfunction message. Apparently, it detected that I disconnected the airbag to replace the part.
You need odb scanner that can clear airbag warnings. Cheapest odb scanners cannot do it but usually little better ones have mention that they can. I had lauch reader odb scanner that could clear it. Like 100euros at ebay.
To avoid problems with getting codes for disconnected airbag and later going to the dealership to clear it up, replacement of the radio buttons unit could done without unplugging airbag connector on the steering wheel, if you replacing whole radio button unit rather than damaged buttons. MB dealer has a pair of units for $170. Replacement is a bit painful, but absolutely doable. Make sure you have short T27 torx to undo the wheel and T10 torx for radio buttons unit.
So it's probably airbag error. It needs to be cleared out with scanner. These cars notice airbag disconnect even when they are not running. I had also airbag fault error that needed to be cleared out. Basic odb scanner may not be able to clear it. It needs a scanner with airbag functionality.
@@JamesParus thanks for the reply James, seems so, some pros did say that before removing airbags we should disconnect the battery ugh, you sure no mobile car scanner can fix this? I do have an OBDI 2 scanner.
@@umairkhalid7593 there is two batteries. Second inside the dash. Disconnecting battery has probably some other issues. Some good mobile scanner can probably clear the code. Basic scanner usually shows engine codes. Step better shows and clears airbag and abs codes.

Just did mine. Disconnected the main battery and the one in the trunk before removing the airbag. No errors.

I was able to replace mine without removing the yellow airbag connector.

MB will only sell you the whole assembly. AliExpress sellers will sell you just the plastic which is all that is wrong
