This is the key part I was missing in my JKD sidekick, "kick just before the rear foot touches the ground", like with the straight lead punch! Interesting and it seems like Bruce has put a lot of emphasis on those being power moves and which is why the straight lead is stronger than a jab and is not meant to be just a stun move, but a power move. EXACTLY!! I'm glad one person understands it, Bruce Lee modified both techniques to generate much more power so that even a smaller guy like himself could send guys flying with it!
