The best tractor of its generation and a pioneer of linked electronic control systems. The Dynashift is a superb transmission but the big thing about the 3095, 3120 and the four cylinder 3075 is the so-called Dynatorque engines. These three out of the range were the high torque rise ‘constant-power’ engines that performed much better than the rest of the range or anything available from rivals at the time. MF had between a five and ten year advantage over rival brands, starting in 1986 with the introduction of the 3000 series.

Great memories Dan, In 96-97 I was working for contractor driving blue tractors, went to a potato farm trailering off, they had a 3095's and 3115's. on short staff days we seat swapped and I regularly got to drive the 3095 and loved every moment, nothing sounded or pulled like it. Looking forward to seeing your restoration

The 2nd gen 3095 was launched in 91.. we had 1 in 92 and we drove a jf 900 with it for 2 year then I got it and ran a jd 1365 mower with grouper ... it was a awesome tractor... I bought a 3125 couple year back cause I wanted one again and it has all the extras on it... they just make me smile when I'm driving it... enjoy the new purchase

Looks a decent tractor. The early 3000 models did have some reliability issues, but most of these were ironed out by the time the 75/85/95 models were produced. The Dynashift was a great step forward over the original A/B 32 speed tractors. I cannot imagine there are many MF fitters who haven't pulled the speedshift out to find the A/B coupler in bits. Most electrical issues are down to voltage supply problems, early tractors had a fuse on top of the battery that corroded out due to the fumes. Later models like yours have fuses by the air cleaner behind the front grille. These power the Autotronic under the RH cab step. Always check for voltages with a test lamp, not a digital meter and make sure the earths are good (some will have replacement earth wires fitted). ELC (rear linkage) needs alternator voltage to work, 12v is not enough. Position sensor works on the top cross shaft, make sure the lift arm retaining bolts are tight (can shear off or work loose). Lower link draft pins sometimes cause issues, try disconnecting them one at a time if you have problems. Rear couplers leak, but at least the linkage wont seize up!!! PTOs are always noisy when running light, make sure the PTO shaft inner bearing is good as the rollers can fall out and make the shaft wobbly. Front axle pivot is critical, jack the tractor up on the weight frame and check for any play when the axle weight is taken. Any play at all needs addressing as it will soon wear the splines on the pinion, requiring an axle overhaul. Always jack the front up to grease the pivot bushes and check the splined couplers have good splitpins. Hope you got a good 'un and look forward to seeing do some work.

i liked driving a 3060 it was a lot more comfortable than a 300 series, the only problems we had was the odd electrical issue and the drive shaft to the front wheels 4wd would screw up every now and then, but the 3000 series was a nice tractor to operate back in the day.

Great video Dan we had 3085 and traded it in for the 6290. Had same issue as u had with the pump and steering difficulties. New pump solved the issue. Now have a little 3075 which is my favourite of all our tractors. Great little bus to punch above its weight. Good luck with the 3095 and looking forward to seeing it on the channel.

That 3085 you said was at auction, was that Shaftesbury? Because that one is currently in my shed 👀😂. Started up a treat and drove 36 miles home. The 4wd was stuck in so the front hubs were dismantled. We replaced the front axle bushes and found a lot of matched up bearings in the front diff. All rebuilt and 4wd operative, and now onto sorting the rust around the back of the cab (where the back end of the gutter drips water under the window seals). I’ve recently bought a plough for it, ready for this autumn’s ploughing matches so you may see it out and about with a bit of luck🤞

Happy new tractor , the 3095 is a great tractor but it does develop faults , the injectors can sometimes play up , the autotronic selector for FWD is another fault that pops up , as well as buttons and switches failing mainly to dust finding its way in and causing shortages on the contacts, usually a good clean solves the problem,, water under the cab mat can rot the floor, door hinges should be kept well oiled , door handle can fail ,,

3095 does all my round baling and spraying, firstly test the alternator, and all the fuses in the dashboard, then the yellow wire at the battery, and at the ECU under the cab step, the yellow wire also has fuses near the air filter that blow

Great video Dan,back when we were dairy farming, our main power horse was a Massey Ferguson 3505,our dairy farmer friend in I think in 1988 bought a 3070 two wheel drive with loader,I did drive and rake hay with it super nice I won’t my dad to buy us a 3650 of the 3000 series but did not happen, back to the dairy farmer friend the 3070 did well but he did trade it for I think for a New Holland and claim he had electronics issues with it cause as the Massey Ferguson dealer said who ever put the electronics in for Massey Ferguson they when out of business so parts were a problem so the dealer hot wired a lot of things pto hydraulic pumps all on toggling switch and the grandkids used the tractor and was bad about leaving the switches on to burn something out and I did think the shift was two gear sticks one was I think four speed and the other was two range and you pushed to the side to get other gears range and something happened not sure and it had to be split and think it was transmission and all the thing that happened to it was always taking care of by the dairy farmer friend of ours i think and he traded it had original 4000 hours on it and look super nice like your new Massey Ferguson have a blessed evening

Dan, as you know, I have a 3070 which was the first iteration of the 3000 series and was shown on Tomorrow's World !! As far as I am aware, the second iteration, i.e. those with a model nr ending in 5 had Dynashift, A/C and a 40K box as standard. My main problems have been electrical and cab rust, but we are slowly getting all these sorted. Re the screen, I had scratches like yours but couldn't remove them, so ended up fitting a replacement screen.

These were the first popular tractors with automated electronic systems such as radar slip control that overrode draft control, 4wd that disengaged when over a certain speed, PTO that was killed before engine stall or if clutch slip was detected. Also one of the first with the optional Datatronic performance monitor with a crude headland management system. These represent the biggest step up in tractor design since The Ferguson System three point linkage and centre drive four wheel drive.

I have driven a 3095! I spent a day tedding and a day with a baler on the back. It felt like a massive overkill for a small square baler after using a MF 565 and a Universal 640 with the same baler but it worked very well. I thought it was the Rolls Royce of tractors after driving the others available to me at the time. I don't recall the owner having any problems with it

Spent many happy hours in both a 3075 and 3095 both fantastic tractors in their own right. 3075 was a very sharp capable tractor for its size, and the 3095 was a lovely smooth tractor to drive. Remember drawing silage with a 3095 and when it got dark there was about 6 inches of flame coming out the end of the exhaust! Always preferred the 3000 series tractor the the 6000 series that replaced them! Drove a number of 6000 series tractors, and never really warmed to them! Always felt that they got it wrong with them. But luckily they started to build the 6200 series and totally turned things around! Still maintain that the 6290 was one of if not the best tractors Massey ever build!

Bought a 3075 in 2003 to replace a beleagured Case Maxxum and still have it. The 95 came along in 93 I think, a year after the 85 (iirc it replaced the 3115). Dynashift would be late 1992.

Our 3095 was new August 1992 and Dynashift wasn't available on it at the time of ordering which would have been earlier in 92. Oddly it was registered K95 NDO which is a latter number than yours!

Hi dan i had a 1993 3095 absolutely loved it no issues with it pulled 10 ton silage trailers up down hills better than the 6290's which spun out.

thats weird, because the 6290 has 135 HP against 3095 110HP. I worked at a farm where they give the 6290 155HP at the PTO, around 165/170HP at engine

you know the rams in the back window or what ever there called the things that keep the back window open there the wrong way because what happens is that the dirt builds up and they seel up and thats probably why u had to change cause they were the wrong way round

Don t know why a 4 cylinder should be better, there must be some 6,354 engines as well in UK from old cut up combines, just as I did with my 1200 when the dieselpump said good bye, then it was cheaper to buy a combine engine that maybe had run 2000 hours instead of having the pump repaired by some dieselshop, now I know how to repair them myself, so not running into that problem again, and maybe it s cheaper to get something repaired in GB, think is, thank you, and good luck with the new horses.

    Another good video
    And a nice straight tractor
You must be chuffed to finally get one
I remember the first time I seen a 1200, must have been 6 or 7, I knew I wanted one, took 20 odd years to finally get one

Great video again Dan. We have a 3060,3065,3070, 3075 just purchased and a 3630 along with two 65 mark ones. The 3070 is my favourite for lots of reasons but mainly as I know it’s ways. I like the 307, like COG keep the wheel turning just like the business going. The 3630 still to be launched, as had a refurb, so fingers crossed she doesn’t blow up when we finally get her out. Keep up the good work. 👌

      I have a1990 MF 3070 2wd and it’s my favorite tractor. I have 2 other tractors a IMT 539 and a JD 5320. I was raised up driving MF’s , my son has had 5 different JD’s 2 5400’s , a 1070, a 6120 and a new 5090 I’ve worded them all there great tractors, but I like driving and working my MF 3070 over all of them.

Hi Dan looks a genuine tractor that's came straight from work 👍 I operated a brand new 3000 series a few times back in 1989 it replaced a worn out 2640 that had a opico turbo and had been a great tractor I was told it didn't have any issues but it was a new tractor I have JCB fastrac with a perkins in it runs well but does breathe when hot yours has a few hours on it does it breath much Dan is it normal for perkins phaser to breathe 🤔

Drove an early model 1987 2wd 3080 in the early 90's. had the hand throttle mounted on side of dashboard.
It had the A/B box which gave some issues after a few years. speedshift was handy though.
Also the PUH was great the way it swung out to give good view, downside was there was a lot of joints to wear and so trailers were prone to coming off. one time the hitch was left down a bit whilst traveling on the road, when i hitched up to a trailer the locking hooks had moved to locked position and the hitch came up against them and didnt stop! broke the lift arm right above the lift cylinder.
Engine was getting hard to start as the hours went up.
Electrical issues were - lift stopped working due to failing alternator. Some corrosion on wiring connections at right hand side step compartment.
Leveling lever/linkage broke so repaired using steering knuckle/joint from steering from a scrap car.
overall loved it despite its downsides, damm comfortable tractor and loved the 6 cylinder sound with those side windows in the door open!

I think jewellers rouge can be used to polish slight scratches out of glass, not sure how it would work on toughened windscreen glass though.
