    Nice project. The problem with painting is where do stop and to what standard do go too?
    Either do a full refurbish to a good standard or leave it. Personally, l would clean it, sort it mechanically and get the cab right and run it as an old but gold tractor.

    Great video. Now the paint question. You bought the tractor for a reminder of a time your father had one on the farm that was a new one at that so as that tractor itself has no sentimental value to you tick the box and paint it and it will closely resemble your dad's one as possible. If it was that actual tractor I wouldnt paint it at all. I miss our 165. So I bought a 135.😁 It's getting painted.. Stay safe Dan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    My grand father bought a 178 in 1968 brand new, we still use it. If it's not red leave it in the shed.

    CF Dan - excellent project tractor, looking forward to seeing progress. Paint - wash and leave that is 50 years of hard earned patina.

    Well done, 165 was the best tractor ever made, an iconic tractor which as of now all 1/32 model manufacturers have ignored? I learnt to drive a 165 @ 11yrs old and then became an apprentice @ 16 on them. Love yours ( love them all ) Give her a paint and restore her to its former glory. Long live M.F.

    Hi Dan, you should try the export guys. They cut the cabs and cladding off. I got a good cladding and doors for my 165 which was similar to yours. Good luck with the refurbishment.

    Stumbled across this. In my youth, I spent many many hours in a 165 with that cab and all the features you wanted, in the 70's. It was new to the farm where I worked (friends of my Mum who grew up with the Crabtree's that farmed it) most weekends and school holidays. They also had an MF1200 in the late 70's and got a second one a couple of years later. There was a 175 and a 135, an old 35 and a little grey Fergie that was the first thing I ever drove but drove all the tractors at one time or another. Happy days!

    Great video Dan and a lovely collection of the MF range . I’ve recently bought a 1963 mf165 as a lockdown project. When the Duncan cab came off there was some corrosion around the bonnet . So she is getting a paint whether she likes it or not !

  • @cfurey5308

    Another great video Dan. I think this will need paint at the new cab cladding will clash with the old original look. It deserves it! You want to remember your previous new MF165.

  • @johnlewins4523
    @johnlewins4523 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    All depends on how rough it is when washed… sometimes look better as is…. But if new cladding etc looks daft against old paint, go to the trouble of a re-spray… it’ll never look wrong and I’m sure it would ba a satisfying job 🚜👍🏻👍🏻

      Ok,have corrected that,apparently year then has nothing to do with Multi P. or not as mine is equipped with that,strong tractor,have used my Gyro frontloader a lot and untill last year wasn t able to put doors on,but widened the Secura house 200 mm,so could get frame on other side of loader,just made new roof of one of those thin metalplates like you have on your barn,but just one with lower waves and bended a 15 mm gutter each side plus new windows cut in 4 mm plastic.Thank you.

  • @mikeclifton7778
    @mikeclifton7778 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks like a solid tractor, I think I'd leave it as is with 50 years' experience, in a perfect world a used canvas would turn up but being realistic you'd probably have to replace the canvas at some point due to UV damage so it'll look fine. There used to be a company in Lambourn that made cab parts but whether they do flexi cab parts I don't know. Good video again Dan.

  • @simonbutler6120

    Great new Tractor you have there. If mine I'd leave paint work as is, the new cladding will soon fade. Re loader we have one that goes on our old 135 but it's resting in the field but if I remember I'll take some pictures of the ends for you and message it to your Instagram page. Sam
