This police chief knows who has been sued and what lawsuits have been paid out. When you have 750,000 paid out because of one bad cop and the police chief continues to keep that cop on the payroll that just shows how high the corruption goes. The department certainly doesn't care about public safety when they have dangerous violent cops on the beat

The truth is if you hadn't published this nobody in the department would have ever lifted a finger to make the changes needed. The only way to force change is through transparency. Everyone with a phone needs to start recording the police so they can be held accountable. If you are pro police then considerate it watching their backs. But everyone needs to film The Police. This is way to common. It’s like me committing a felony and then letting my dad and brothers to determine what my punishment should be. They only do something when the people find out and they do all they can to make sure that doesn’t happen. Even going as far as trying to convince us that cameras can be used as weapons hoping it will scare us into recording them. I’m in no way anti cop. I completely understand we need cops, but we also need to be able to trust them and they do everything they can from making that possible. Not even keeping good records on the bad cops. So I am working on creating an app that not only lets us bring awareness to the worst of the worst, but also shine a light on the best of the best. I’m hoping it takes off and we can even help those cops put that get fired for doing the right thing. Things will never get better if nothing changes and we have seen time and time again that they aren’t willing to change so it is up to us to do something about it. Unfortunately building an app is extremely expensive and takes a ton of time so I will need help. If this is something you support just let me know and with enough volunteers and / or donations we can make it happen.

Of course investigators get war weary reading the same type of lies over and over again. Think this is where complacency creeps in over a period of time allowing what may be reasonable complaints to get ignored. It's not as simple as a TV company looking for extra audience figures sensationalising these things without looking for the real answers.

I would be willing to bet that the Department has been trying to get rid of these problem officers among others and because of P.A. 312 Arbitration they can't, because of sympathetic arbitrators ruling against the City. This is not only a problem in Detroit but throughout the profession. To add insult to injury many of these officers then sue the City after receiving a favorable ruling, and sometimes they sue simultaneously getting two bites at the apple!

I'm glad your reporting is making a difference. Like Willie Bell said, the facts are there. Police keep the blue wall of silence strong until sunlight reporting comes along and breaks it open. Chris Graveline is a talking failure. Where was he while all of this was going on? He was busy sweeping it under the rug. Good work Ross Jones and Action News 7.

How can a police force say they weren't aware of 85 complaints on an officer because some were declared unsubstantiated is mind blowing. No one believes this, it's the thin blue line club. But if a citizen had his record they would have been burned at the stake 10 times over.

This has been going on for a very long time, to eradicate it at least most of it. Because the police stations have been infantrated terribly, you all are not VETTING your offices. And that is the bottom line. And I blame that on the Commander's.

They would not have done nothing had it not been for channel 7, and let's face it 95% don't live in the city so why would they give a dam about the city... facts... make it mandatory you work for the city, Pais by city residents then live in the city just as other local cities employees are mandated to do so
