This is the best story ever! Thats amazing that you did not notice she had them? Does she only have top or bottom? Or both?? I have top dentures and the way my bottom teeth are going I might need bottom dentures ☹ I have had so many guys ask me out for coffee and on a date and I always say no because I'm terrified of being rejected over this situation...

You can clean them the next day and soak them for 5 minutes while youre in the shower or going to the bathroom. I have full dentures now and its actually really easy. I can sleep with them in and it feels perfectly natural.

I had to get dentures 2 months ago and I'm only 26. as a kid I suffered from severe overcrowding I needed teeth removed and braces but my parents didn't do it so my teeth gradually got worse and worse over the years until I had no choice. people judge me all the time but I don't care. I lived most my life with ugly, crooked, painful teeth and now I have no pain and I have a beautiful smile. if you need dentures for whatever reason get them don't let others opinions stop you!

Now I'm facing dentures. You have one missing tooth which nowadays you can get that fixed easily. You will be fine... trust me.

@Carolina1 that was very well said. I feel like anyone in this situation should be and is allowed to vent their emotions, because how common is it that we just meet someone or personally know someone going through the same thing? Not very often. So when we have a community of people that can relate to us and sympathize without ignorance or judgment, it's actually the best most appropriate time to share those feelings. Its relieving to know others understand our struggles with having bad or failing teeth. It's an emotional journey, were allowed to express it in an environment of like -minded people and that will never be wrong. Very different from being a narcissist and making it all about you

I am a 36 year old guy. I was without my teeth for about a year before having dentures fitted. I had my teeth removed them in three separate appointments, healed for a few months, then my jaw bone had to be shaved down, and I had to heal for a few months more to get the best fitment. I dealt with bad teeth for the better part of my adult life. I was embarrassed to the point to where I couldn't make eye contact with anyone, not even some friends. As of last week I am just getting back into dating and i am super excited! I am conquering my social anxiety from having really bad teeth and no teeth for such a long time. Thanks pretty lady for the reassurance that I can move forward. I was worried how my date would react when I tell them in the near future.

I used to be bulimic when I was a teen and I began doing it again after giving birth to my now 8yr old daughter so eventually my gag reflexes got very messed up & sometimes to this very day, it is hard to keep food down which the acid caused my tooth to decay and rot. I have been very embarrassed about getting dentures but honestly, your videos have helped out a lot especially when I see how young and beautiful you are. I guess I just kind of thought that only the elderly &drug addicts used dentures so now I feel much to see that beautiful people get dentures too.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @keyd4211 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Same here, being bulimic by several years nobody knows it, not even my family. We're all chubby, but for some reason I've always been the target of their bullying, telling me things like "you made yourself a pig", "you look like a cow" "nothing fits you" that really affected me. And now is worse, my teeth are bad and my dentist says that I should consider using a denture. It's hard to deal with bulimia and the losing of your teeth because both are related to self steem UwU it's difficult. But we can go through this. You can do it. My best wishes to both of you and anyone who is going through this.

I know how you feel. I recently found out I had 6 cavities (I didn't have a cavity since I was a kid) in my back teeth most of them were small and others a bit big, because of the stress of college and other problems I started to think of killing myself, but I started to think that there are worst things in life and I could be in a worse situation. I'm currently recovering from my depression and working out and taking better care of myself and lately I'm feeling way better. Suicide is not the answer, if there is a problem there is a solution and I can tell with 100% sure that most people won't see a problem with you wearing dentures. So my advice is trying to get help, specially from friends, family and obviously a professional, try to change the way you look at things and learn from your mistakes and take better care of yourself. Also be aware that everyone has scars and a scar tells a story

Lisa I know this is 2 years later and I know how it feels to have dental problems where it makes our self esteem sink to the bottom of the ocean. I truly hope you are ok. I've had so many Dental issues and over the years I've had so much work done, including braces because my teeth were very crowded but not crooked. I've had my front teeth ground only to eat a gummy bear and There Goes My Crown . I look like a damn jack-o'-lantern. I taught myself how to not smile when I was missing that tooth. I eventually had it replaced . after I had it replaced, I was so used to not smiling that I had to get used to being able to smile again. I've had several teeth pulled, even the ones right behind my canine teeth so that my braces could work. I've never had any health issues or did anything to cause my dental issues. My grandma would tell me that my grandpa had teeth like chalk, my dad had very weak teeth. As of now after many many years, every single tooth I have is a crown. My husband at one point had really good dental insurance and I took advantage of getting the work done. But my problems did not and there. I have TMJ and I grind my teeth severely. I will repeat, severely. My dentist is awesome and he says that I have grinded my teeth down so bad that he barely has any room to work. The first visit when I saw him, I honestly had no hope and my anxiety kept telling me that I could either not afford all the work I needed or that the dentist would say I need to get all my teeth pulled since it would cost way more than a nice new car. As it turned out, it wasn't as bad as I thought but yes I did need a lot of work still. I had to have root canals redone, I just had the third root canal on this tooth done and I honestly don't think they will be able to save it when I go back in a week. It's been hell. I had an abscess and I can tell you I would have rather given birth to my two kids all over again then go through that pain. But my whole point is is that nowadays they have come so far in the dental industry and many people who think they need dentures really don't. That's what happened in my case but I am almost sure that one day when I'm older and it's more logical, I would get them. But at this point they are not necessary. But if they were, so be it. It's really a win-win situation. There's Hope and you can either get things fixed or if you do need dentures, they have come so far as far as dental work. What upsets me as well as many other people is that dental work is so expensive. But it's very important to get your teeth scene 2 in do whatever you have to do 2 find a way to make it happen. When it comes to your health and there's no other options there are so many loans or credit cards out there. It's not my favorite option but at the same time it's not like I'm getting a credit card to go shopping. It's to save my teeth as well as my health. Many people don't understand that if there are severe dental problems that go untreated it affects your overall health. There are so many dentist out there that will work with you regardless of your income. I can imagine there are so many dentist out there that want to help people and they do understand the crazy costs involved. You have to dig deep and find a way to get it done but please know that reading your comment made my heart sink even though I do not know you. I feel for you because I know the pain through my own experience but there is no reason whatsoever to take your own life. Issues like this , there's always a solution even if the negative voice in your mind says it's not possible. your pain is mine as I read this. I am being honest and I could tell you that I am on my phone and I see your picture next to your comment. And you are very beautiful, I totally mean that. I know what it's like to be told by others that I am beautiful and not believe it. I would always shrug it off because my insecurities about my teeth overrides the compliments. But I have been told I am pretty over the years and it has come from people that I know wouldn't just say it just to say it or make me feel good. But I know what it's like to be told you're beautiful and not feel it. But you most definitely are and honestly if I had the money I would totally pay for you and me to have all the luxurious dental work in the world that we needed. Please keep your head up and I promise a lot of times it's not as bad as you think. Maybe the dentist will tell you that you don't need dentures. Maybe they will. So what? Really. So what? If you need dentures, so be it.
I am sending you the warmest tightest hug I can send you over TH-cam. your comment went right through my heart and this world and the people you know need you more than you will ever think. This is just a season where in, things always get better and I truly hope that you are okay. You have so much to live for. Sometimes we just need someone to say "I understand." it's a very heartbreaking feeling to look in the mirror and hate what we see. I've been there. but there's always a way to get the help you need. And I promise you the fear that you have, when everything is said and done you will look back and think I was more scared than I needed to be. Most of the time when we worry about Things they don't happen or they are not as bad as we thought.. I wish you the best and remember you are beautiful. You are loved.

Your videos have helped me out so much. I'm 37 and had dentures at 28. I was super insecure about a lot of things in my life and that was a big one. I'm a singer who is still trying to make my dreams come true and I get worried about how it would affect all of that. I wouldn't tell my friends and became very reclusive because of my insecurities about it. I worried everyone could tell. It really added to my already low self-esteem. But I have come to find that it didn't affect my singing, no one can tell, and I'm worried for nothing. I've also found that when I have brought it up it's not a big deal. When you work in dental you notice peoples teeth and can’t help thinking everyone notices yours too. Luckily I have a very supportive husband who like yours has become even more attracted to me because now I can smile! Thank you for this video, I'm on a point of pure anxiety cause I'm a 26 y/o male and needing full dentures because my teeth are rotten to the root because of anti-depressant medication. You really gave me that extra boost of confidence with this video , and I'm planning to get everything extracted and go for full dentures asap, it's been way overdue. Just need to save a little more money for it.
I recently got into contact with this girl and I can't stop worrying about how this will affect our relationship, you gave me a great insight as to how the right people WILL accept it :)
Also, you really look great with your dentures!

I've been wearing Dentures now for just about a year now. My story isn't all that dissimilar to yours. I just happened to stumble on your channel by chance, but so glad I did! I'm encouraged to share my story now, because of you. Unfortunately I ended up getting a bad dentist, who made me a poor quality set of dentures, and neglected to believe me and caused me to have a piece of dead bone trapped in my upper jaw for over a year and a half, (finally getting removed this Thursday!) that's left me with an infection and poor healing. As far as Dating with Dentures, I'm married, but like you, getting my dentures and being able to talk and smile without trying to hide my mouth or fearing if my teeth are showing and always wondering if people are just staring at my mouth, thinking I'm some kind of drug addict or worse, has definitely made me a more happy and confident person! The right person won't care if you wear dentures or not. My husband loved me before and he's happy that he was able to help me get this done. I shouldn't have put off getting them for as long as I did out of fear, but at the same time, I wish I had found a better dentist before getting the extractions! Thanks for all you do!

Happy to discover you on TH-cam! I had teeth removed and an upper denture put in five years ago - I’m still wearing the temporary and never had it re-lined. I love love love my denture but the sad thing is I never told anyone except my kids and unable to have a relationship as fearful to kiss anyone as they will know I have a denture. I’m always told I have a beautiful smile and can’t imagine ever disclosing the fact that my teeth aren’t my own. Now my bottom teeth are breaking since pandemic and was told to remove all teeth and put in a denture and I’m very fearful of this as I’m told it won’t stay in the bottom and I will need implants and bone grafts and don’t have the cash. I so miss having a relationship and want to fall in love again at over 60 but afraid of anyone learning I have a denture.

But I just got home from a date where I was just told I had a beautiful smile. After a few kisses he asked if I had dentures. I said yes. He said why? I just casually said years of bad dental work and medication took its toll. I am 38 and I am glad to be done with that pain and infected teeth. He asked if I took them out at night I said yes and we moved on. It was no big deal. I have noticed I have become very observant of others teeth and usually I am happy to have my white straight teeth. Sometimes I look at others teeth and think I like mine better lol

I had no issues with my teeth from the time they started coming in until I was 12, when the dentist I had seen my entire life retired. Unfortunately, I grew up quite poor so I was on state issued insurance & we were given 2 options for a new dentist. One was about an hour away so he was out which left the one I had to see. I always went every 6mths for cleanings & brushed 2x a day, in the previous 12yrs only had 2 cavities. However, after starting the new dentist "suddenly" I started getting cavities constantly according to the dentist. I do have mild OCD, so I became obsessed thinking maybe I needed to brush more. It got so bad I was brushing NO LESS than 6x a day, using mouthwash after each brushing when the mouthwash for kids came out that is supposed to "attract" anything left after brushing so I began using that as well. However, I had gotten use to the burn of regular mouthwash I felt like I was using swishing koolaid, therefore I would use the kids mouthwash then regular ol' Listerine. If I ate or drank anything other than water I would immediately brush my teeth, I kept an extra brush/toothpaste with me at all times. But nothing seemed to help, every trip to the dentist was "another" cavity until it turned into oh you need a root canal. And never once did this dentist say anything about my enamel being eroded away. After graduating & getting a job with insurance at 18, I changed dentists and over the next year's spent thousands trying to fix my teeth. Needless to say I got to the point I was in constant pain for years, it got to the point of not being able to even eat soup with severe pain. So 2yrs ago I was able to get my top teeth pulled. And YES, I later learned that the dentist I had been seeing had actually been shut down & lost his license. He had done the same thing to many of his patients, messing everyone's teeth up. But at that point the damage had been done, & yes I know I didn't help with constant brushing. I've been outta the dating seen for a few years & just started getting back into and this has been my biggest question & fear.

I didn't realize at first that this was a different page and one I had to subscribe to. Agree with you 100%. When I first was planning on getting my dentures my greatest fear was the reaction of people as I got about the business of living. Strangely, I went from that to doing my own videos to help people because yours had helped me so much when I was researching the Ivoclar Vivadent Phonares II teeth. Today, I don't care who knows. I don't shout it from the rooftops but have no problem talking about it if people ask. With dating, I would suggest exactly what you did. You wouldn't go on a first date (hopefully) and tell a harrowing story about a former relationship gone bad or any other intimate details about your life that should come under the headline "TMI." Get to know someone. Know if you're interested and if they are. If someone rejects you for your dentures they are not the supportive, caring person you should have in your life anyway, or they simply don't have the facts. I think that kind of reaction says more about them than it does about you. Great to see you again Kristi!

  • @heatherlynch8820
    @heatherlynch8820 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Completely agree. I call shenanigans and lies in anyone who says they've hid it from a live in spouse for 15 years. Where are you hiding your denture stuff? Everyone has a moment every now and again when they lose suction at the most inconvenient times. The products for dentures are completely different than that of regular teeth. They dont even make the same noise as regular teeth.
For alot of these reasons and more I cant see hiding implants or even a hybridge that long. There are just certain giveaways with fake teeth that will, with time become apparant living with someone.
Me personally dating someone with dentures wouldnt have bothered me at all...even prior to me having to get them. To me it's the same damn thing as someone having a prosthetic leg or arm.

@@dammar117 Well I agree with you mostly. However if your intent is a long-term relationship sooner or later it’s going to be more than just dating. There is a tricky fine line between honesty and disclosure. And it’s not as simple as most people think in my opinion. How this seemingly simple issue is handled reveals a lot about the character of both parties. It’s not black and white in my opinion. I suppose if I had to put a number on it it should be revealed within the first 25 hours of time spent together. By then the emotional potential should be established and chemistry established as well. Hiding an important detail like this any longer could be detrimental. It may not be obvious At first but in time it will become very important. And it’s not about the dentures, it’s about the character. My $.02. Best of luck to you all!

Yea I got lucky to have a man who loved me fucked up teeth and all😄 now that I have my implants I honestly believe that the reason he likes them is bc of what they have done to make my life better by making me healthier and seeing me smile more! He always made sure I knew that to him I was beautiful and worth the entire world no matter what my teeth were like, he treated (and still does) like I was very special and like I was a princess but unfortunately, people like him are few and far between and it makes me sad to think about the other people out there who haven't been as lucky in love as me, bc even with his monumental, unwavering support I was still so miserable and afraid of the world and it's judgements; getting asked if I was a meth head was pretty depressing and I know it happened alot more behind my back... He went through hell right along with me bc of how sick and depressed I had gotten and that breaks my heart as much as it left me in awe of his incredible spirit, you know? Now I'm actually afraid that if we have children they could end up with the same condition I have where I was born without any enamel on my teeth so no matter how hard I tried to take care of them, the damage just continued unabated and I can't handle thinking about them, being bullied like I was or the idea of them going through the excruciating pain of exposed nerves, cracks forming, abcesses everywhere and having their teeth turning into a rubbery like substance... Everything is harder to cope with when you have such awful teeth so the idea of rolling the dice just hoping it won't happen to them is just unacceptable to me; nobody deserves it!

When I was 27 I dated a girl who was 31. She told me on the second date that she had dentures. I will be honest, she kind of freaked me out a bit. For several minutes I was absolutely certain we would not have a third date. Before the end of the date I changed my mind. It was on my fifth date that I discovered that there was at least one advantage to dating a girl with dentures. My point is that I have discovered in my life that often, something that may seem a disadvantage can often turn out to be an advantage. Ever since I have made a point to be flexible in my perceptions. I would also advise seeking out silver or even gold linings in the clouds you encounter in life.

You're doing an amazing job with all your videos. it's a gift from above. I wrote to you before about sharing my store, but couldn't put my hurts and difficulties in through email. I do need dentures plus I have hair lost issues. At this point I'm losing my house, getting a divorce and been on medical leave for almost 3 years. Medical conditions doesn't help the situation, but I am a strong believer in a higher power. I just wish implants were more affordable. I hear so many dentists speak about no more lose dentures, but when ask thier charging price it's way out of many people League. So as our spoke amazing person you are please express this concern to those dentists you speak too. I have big time phobia of anything to do with mouth in general, so I can imagine myself with removable dentures. I give everyone who wears dentures a praise God... because me I'm still stuck in my ugly smiling not... lol... Thank you Kristi.. God bless you always.

I can't tell just by looking that you have dentures. You are stunning in appearance and to listen to as well. Your speech is flawless and your smile is perfect. Thank you for putting this video up here. I am quite pleased with everything at this point. (You have brilliant eyes too.)

if someone won't date you because you have dentures, then they are shallow and most definitely not worth your time. luckily my boyfriend doesn't care one way or the other. he just wants me out of pain. I think I have a problem with it more than he does, and it's mostly because I'm terrified they'll look wrong , fake and be extremely uncomfortable. great video, it helps knowing that I'm not alone, especially being a young(ish) female.

I think I am going to get full dentures. My dentist can get me a partial but I need a bunch of fillings, three or four caps. Lots of extractions. My insurance doesn’t cover a lot of that. Full dentures is scary, but I am coming to terms with it. Then I thought about something as I was listening to this video. I have had hearing loss all of my life. I started wearing hearing aids when I was in my late 20’s. I hid them. Nobody in my family was allowed to mention them and I never told anyone outside of my family. Dating was hell. I squealed feedback when anyone got close to my ear. It was just hell for me. I dated for 11 years and a guy finally proposed. I told him there was something about me, he wouldn’t want to marry me. I said the words... hearing aids. He said he already knew and it wasn’t a big deal. It was for me though. I got married still hiding my hearing aids from everyone. Thirteen years later, divorced. During the divorce, I went suddenly deaf. Hearing aids weren’t helping much for awhile, but deaf? I checked out Cochlear implants. I was a good candidate so I got one ear implanted and a year later the second ear. These gadgets are nothing like hearing aid! The good? I can hear almost as good as a person with normal hearing. And they don’t have feedback! The bad? The outside part that I wear on my ear and skull are big. Ugly. There is no way I’m going to hide this! So I reframe how I felt about something that goes on your ears to help you hear. I think my Cochlear implants show I am strong and have courage. If I am brave enough to undergo brain surgery just so I can talk to you, I think that is brave. I had used the same thinking on scars but never realized it. I have a (so far) benign bone tumor disease. I have scars on all my joints, and then some, I stopped counting at 30 surgeries. But I always felt that if I can go through the surgery and that bone tumor was benign - the scar is something to celebrate.
Dating? I am sure I have not been called on a second date, when they caught on that I wore hearing aids or I wore a bathing suit and they saw my scars. But would I want to date someone so shallow anyway? I am looking at dentures the same way. If I have the courage to get my remaining broken, decayed and painful teeth extracted, you danged better be proud of me. Courage is my Superpower. And it is for everyone getting or have dentures, or hearing aids, cane or walker. All of these have a stigma attached to it. People will treat you different. Not because they are horrible people- maybe they just don’t have the confidence to be with someone that is different.
But remember, you faced the unknown with courage. Courage is your superpower.

It was always my biggest fear. When I was getting my implants, I was so out of it, I didn't care that he saw. It's still something i'm uncomfortable with, it even makes me uncomfortable that the dentist has to see me without. But you just gotta grin and bear it (well, not literally grin.... though that might be funny lol). Understand that this fear is a personal one and that the people who love and care about you most likely do not see it the same way you do. Just muscle through it and i'm sure you'll be fine! Good luck to both of you!

I’m totally in panic mode and insecurities that are destroying different areas of my life. I am in recovery from drugs. I have 7 1/2 months clean and sober. I work a 12 step program in AA. I am continually working on myself and will remain teachable my whole life. I’ve built sooo many coping skills, built a huge support group, and are always working on my character defects. One HUGE part of my recovery is getting my teeth fixed my teeth are destroyed and I’m single completely TERRIFIED about dentures. I will get implants one day when I can afford it. I now work at the treatment center I went to, so hopefully i will have credentials soon and will be able to be promoted to be able to pay for implants one day. I’m scared food won’t taste the same, kissing, making out, maintaining them, telling a date, and just about everything there is to ask. I have extreme anxiety and get really depressed at the end of the day a lot about it. I pray all the time to be blessed with getting all this done. I just need some type of support and would love to talk to someone else about this. Thank you for the video, I would love to have updates about my story to help others cause this is so hard to live with.

I think dentures are equated with old age, im 57 and have never heard of a young person going through this, you are very beautiful, and i'm happy you have found your smile, i think when we have bad teeth we are less outgoing because we don't want to smile , i mean i think you should inform a person only if you are serious then you should. But when you smile its like you open up and people are drawn to you.

Condier in my perspective that people who don't accept you as you are and could be emotionally unbalanced people and in fact they don't accept you as you are as a person, and they will take advantage, something more positive in this situation, that you can realize who loves you as you are with this problem or who doesn't.... I also have this problem, full dentures, I'm 24 years old, I'm from Romania, I'm young, but I'm glad that I'm healthy and that I didn't die after that infection , I'm a man and I've had complexities, I don't shy away from showing what I am and who I am, it happens, I accept the situation, it's not easy, but it must be accepted, as you say, there are immature people who don't understand the situation and will refuse you just because you had a problem and there are others who are emotionally mature socially and understand the situation and accept you as you are we are organisms our body is not perfect we must understand this

I just found your channel 😀 Im probably going to end up getting my top teeth and possibly the bottoms extracted and getting dentures soon, and Im absolutely terrified. I have terrible teeth, having my 3 kids and being on medication for the last 8yrs that greatly affected my enamel has really destroyed my teeth. Mostly the upper ones and most of the molars on the bottom. So I know what Im facing, but I've been procrastinating about seeing the dentist because I have had some TERRIBLE toothaches/infections before and I know what dental pain feels like and Im not in any hurry to feel that again..but the longer I wait, the worse they get and the more that break and it is to the point where I have to hide my teeth when I talk and I can't smile in public.. It breaks my heart that my kids don't even want their friends over because they don't want them to see my teeth and get teased for it at school. (My oldest-my daughter- is going to 9th grade this fall, my 2nd oldest (boy) is going to middle school and my youngest (boy) is going to 1st grade.. I really want to be able to smile and talk again, and not feel terrible all the time. Im just so afraid of the dentist and how much this process and the procedures are going to hurt!

Thank you for the video. I can't believe you are addressing the very anxiety-laden issue I am dealing with. I am soon to be married and worried sick over how I was going to inform him. Thanks much for your suggestions.
By the way, your teeth are beautiful. I have a full top and bottom and am wondering how much it will cost to have what you have. Can you please give me an idea? Who do you recommend I see?
Also, since having my extractions, I do not enjoy eating because I cannot bite down on most foods. So, I mostly order very soft foods when eating out - - mainly soups. This has caused me much depression and shyness. Any suggestions will be welcomed.
Thank you in advance for even taking the time to read this. Ruth

RUTH BROWN congrats on the upcoming wedding! To have something similar to what I have, it averages around $45k. These teeth can be used in several different types of prostheses such as snap in dentures or fully removable dentures. Sometimes, people opt to get just a lower fixed bridge and a removable or snap in upper denture, since it is typically the lower denture that causes the most problems. Aesthetically, they all will look the same, just function a little differently. I've linked Ivoclar's website in the description box. They have a search feature which can help you locate labs in your area that use Ivoclar products. Give the nearest lab a call and ask for their top five dentist recommendations. The teeth used in my hybrids here are the Phonares teeth and can be used in any prosthesis. As far as eating with what you have, have you had a recent reline or adjustment to make sure they are fitting properly? For me, I just practiced a lot by eating challenging food until I got used to it.
