No sure how to start this, but, first I love this song so much and I love Simon & Garfunkel. When it comes to music, I am a true traditionalist and really never enjoy covers to pieces of music that I love nor other artists who sing them. This video is a true exception to that! You two gentlemen are beyond talented and your version made me smile. I stumbled upon this tonight and I could not be happier. Kudos to both of you and best of luck. Absolutely wonderful!
well...that's all well and good, but...have you heard jonatha brooke's version of this song? i like it better than the original...there's an ambience achieved by the instruments that no other version achieves...and, btw, of course paul simon captured something, first of all that no longer exists and second...there weren't a whole lotta foggy nights on bleecker street(i lived close by for a while), but leave it to paul to capture one in a jar...try the jonatha brooke version and see what you think...
@@kalleblom5564 i want to make sure that you get what i said to the original poster...(yar eel)...have you heard the jonatha brooke version of this song? you can find it here...THEN decide. i, too, rarely like covers. but i like her version better than the original...for what this is worth...in any case, one listen couldn't hurt, right?
Am I in heaven?? I swear I have never heard anything more beautiful or perfect- I hear a slight accent in one of you and it honestly gave such a gorgeous effect to this cover. I genuinely hope you guys get famous one day, this isn't talent you see everyday.
first heard this in 1965 and having no idea who Simon & Garfunkel were.... i've heard it hundreds of times since but i've never heard it done any better... you guys absolutely nail it
I've been a Simon and Garfunkel fan for 50 years. This song was always one of my favorites. This is the best version of the harmonies I've ever heard. thank you.
I can't express how perfect this version of this song is. It hits all the correct notes (literally, figuratively, and exactly). I'm pissed every time this video ends.
You hit the notes so well, I can actually add a third harmony really well, without getting lost. Well done!!! And I was not pissed when the video ended, but rather elated it was so easy to sing along to.
This is the first song I have a vivid memory of listening to. 4 years old in my living room, curiously watching the record spin with my fingers through the holes of a big knit quilt. I've been transported with this cover rendition. You've done it great justice; nicely picked, and perfectly harmonized.
Excellent cover! Excellent. I shared this on Twitter & asked David Crosby (king of harmonizing) to take a listen...and he hit "like"! :) If you ever see this comment I thought you may appreciate that.
Omg.. I LOVE this, it'snot often you can say a cover versionis as good as the original, but this most certainly is! This song conjours up Bleekcer Street for me, I would so have liked to have been there during the 60s!
Beautiful. Your voices and harmonies and guitar playing are working their magic, summoning up the time and place Paul Simon celebrated in this song as if he’d written it for you.
I've covered this song with my buddy. You guys get the 'bounce' of it perfectly. Vocally, the blend is perfect. I can only hope my buddy and I sounded half as good.
Every time I'm in New York I take the time for a "Simon & Garfunkel-Weekend" on which I stroll around the city, visiting all the places S&G sang about and listen to their songs ... "59th Street Bridge" (Feelin' Groovy), "5th Ave/53th Street" (A Poem on the Underground Wall), "Bleecker Street" ...
With the greatest respect, and if I may, the fingerpicking is perfect and the voices blend well together...the only missing thing is the feeling: please read the lyrics, immerse yourselves in the song and I’m sure it is going to be a blast. Break a leg!
Very very nice and sweet cover guys i'm usually very critical and i almost always prefer the original versions but there you nailed it, your voices are matching perfectly, guitar picking is nice too, it flows like honey to my ears, you made the best cover of this song ! congrats !! 🙏👍👏🎶🎸
I always thought the $30 was a reference to the 30 pieces of silver that Judas betrayed Jesus. There are quite a few biblical references woven into this song.
Fog's rollin' in off the East River bank Like a shroud it covers Bleecker Street Fills the alleys where men sleep Hides the shepherd from the sheep Voices leaking from a sad cafe Smiling faces try to understand I saw a shadow touch a shadow's hand On Bleecker Street The poet reads his crooked rhyme Holy, holy is his sacrament Thirty dollars pays your rent On Bleecker Street I head a church bell softly chime In a melody sustainin' It's a long road to Canaan On Bleecker Street Bleecker Street
Hi guys great job ! I just have one comment. If I'm not mistaken you guys don't exchange the high and low voices. In SG's version, Garfunkel has the high voice at the beginning of the chorus and Simon the low. And when they sing "like a shroud", they exchange. Simon takes the high voice and Garfunkel the low voice. By the way you guys can do whatever you want. I just wanted to be a smart ass and point that out !
I'm here again after watching more of their videos...more than a half century ago I learned to play guitar and learned my fingerpicking from Paul Simon's records If only I had a decent voice. These two guys have it all, they have the voices, techniques and the spirit too. Hat's off to you both. I've played bass, lead and rhythm in combos for many years but you guys have my vote as the third best acoustic duo after The Everlys and S&G. Keep it up gentlemen. What about Scarborough Fair?

Agreed! 100%!

this is literally perfect, I don't even know what to say, I will be revisiting this definitively for the rest of my life
Simply the best cover of an S n G song
Paul Simon's music is so exquisitely written that two beautifully blended voices and a guitar are all that is needed. Well done fellas!!
Am I in heaven?? I swear I have never heard anything more beautiful or perfect- I hear a slight accent in one of you and it honestly gave such a gorgeous effect to this cover. I genuinely hope you guys get famous one day, this isn't talent you see everyday.
We appreciate these songs more now than when they were originally released! ☮️✌🏻🪕🕊️
first heard this in 1965 and having no idea who Simon & Garfunkel were.... i've heard it hundreds of times since but i've never heard it done any better... you guys absolutely nail it
This is the cover of all covers.. made my whole body tingle
Flawless. What will always be an underappreciated song by Paul.
Underappreciated...I agree.
This is the song that first brought S&G to prominence. Very much appreciate it at the time
I've been a Simon and Garfunkel fan for 50 years. This song was always one of my favorites. This is the best version of the harmonies I've ever heard. thank you.
S&G have so many songs that vie for Greatest, but to me, this song has always encapsulated sublime, melancholy perfection. Marvelous performance.

Man! One of my all time S&G favourites. You guys keep dropping bomb covers man! Subscribed!
I travel about NYC in my line of work and am often on or near Bleecker Street. I always run this song through my head when there.
Excellent cover! Excellent. I shared this on Twitter & asked David Crosby (king of harmonizing) to take a listen...and he hit "like"! :) If you ever see this comment I thought you may appreciate that.

That was literally flawless. Amazing job.
This is better than the original. It is simpler and more straightforward, but for that reason more beautiful.
I got stunned by this beautiful voices! Thank you from Japan.
Fabulous and you kept the purity of the song throughout.
Beautiful version. ❤️
Just a simple comment to tell you how great this is
Wow. Just beautiful.
So GOOD ! on all levels. Thanks guys. Takes me back to Greenwich Village 1971 :}
Beautiful. Your voices and harmonies and guitar playing are working their magic, summoning up the time and place Paul Simon celebrated in this song as if he’d written it for you.

Wonderful!
Paul Simon - Great writer. You guys nailed this !!!!! Thanks
Love this, great job!
A great song, very nicely sung. I used to live in Bleeker Street from the mid-80s to mid 2010s. No way back then that $30 paid the rent. :)
U do mean 2000s right 😂 either that or you're an immortal time traveler...
I always thought the $30 was a reference to the 30 pieces of silver that Judas betrayed Jesus. There are quite a few biblical references woven into this song.
@@dawnt5487 Very interesting Dawn.
