    Neewer has already gone thorugh one iPhone 15 cage and is now working on version 2. It was getting complaints, apparently sufficiently serious that V. 1 has been dumped. Neewer currently says on its website that the new 15 Pro cage will ship at the end of March. The 15 Pro Max cage, which you may have, may be shipping now. Tough luck for the people who bought the original, and are now facing buying the "fixed" version.

      I shall be interested to see what thew changes are, assuming I have v1 for 15PM. I have found no issues with my version. If it is the handles, I prefer the basic screw on rather than the clip on used by Smallrig: the clip fittings on the Smallrig cage reduce the number of attachment options for other accessories.

    • @normansavigar
      @normansavigar 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Neewer appear to have been very smart with v2. They have added clip points for the new handles but not removed the good number of 1/4in screw attachment points. A clever design.

      Good to know, I just got this cage a couple weeks ago so not sure which model it is but I’ve had no issues with it thus far. I do see where they’re updating stuff, in particular adding different accessory kits.

      @@iphoneographers Enjoy your free product. Did you get cash too? That's quite some company that you're endorsing. We'll just forget about the fact that Neewer rushed to market, dumped its product a few weeks later, announced "Generation 2" like nothing happened, and has failed to offer any form of exchange to the people who bought the version that was dumped.

    I use this cage with smallrig handles. Cage is fantastic especially with included 67mm filter mount, but shutter button on handle is a must for me, so kind of ended with the best of both. Added VND and new Mist/CPL from PolarPro and setup is now complete.
    Also use PolarPro case with their handle/shutter button and sliding 67mm filter mount. Super sweet as well.

      Likewise, I went with this excellent Neewer cage and use Smallrig screw-on handles, one of which has Bluetooth shutter button.

      I saw where Neewer is now offering a shutter button as well, seems like they’re doing a lot of accessory kits. And wow, sounds like you got a tricked out setup! Nice.

    They released a 37mm plate for this one, just waiting on the DOF MK3 to arrive to see how it works, seems solid, and is definitely cheaper than Beastgrips cage

    Thanks for the review. I have been delighted with this Neewer cage.
    One point of note: whilst the filter adapter plate as supplied is threaded for 67mm, one can purchase a converter from K&F to enable circular magnetic filters, such as the new Reeflex range, to be attached directly over all 3 phone sensors. Reeflex sell an adapter plate for the 17mm thread over the 1x sensor so the same 67mm filters can be used, but I haven't yet found a third party plate for 17mm to 67mm.

    I got the stripped down no handles version. I plan on using it for the eclipse. I'll be at a winery in the Texas Hill Country as press. Got it today. Nice and solid. I like the build quality. Not sure exactly what I'll be doing that day, but I have up to 6 different video cameras (iPhones, Osmo Pocket, Zi8, camcorder) and maybe use my ANAFI. I also have a filter that's meant for phones so that's an option for an extra camera. Got the NEEWER 67mm solar ND filter too.

    Hi Blake, new viewer. Great video - thank you! I'm new to videography with the iPhone so this question may be silly. :)
    What is the advantage of using lenses such as you did here over the iPhone built in modes (wide angle, telefoto, etc.)
    Thank you for any help! :)

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, thanks for watching! The main advantage is with lenses you use the best camera/sensor/lens for everything.
      On the 15 Pro it’s the 24mm and it’s also the largest sensor. So you get the best low light capability, cleanest images and most shallow depth the field. And that’s for both video and photo. And on the photo side the only way to get 48MP pictures is to use the main 24mm. So when you add a telephoto or a wide or an anamorphic etc. you get the highest quality.
      Then you can also get additional telephoto looks by putting lenses on the iPhone telephoto lens. The video quality will be similar (especially in good light), photos won’t but again you get a longer range telephoto that way. Hope that helps.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah used to be you would get two or three cycles out of one cage. But since Apple makes slight adjustments to their body every year now, you do have to update. However, most people keep their phones for three or so years and also the nice thing is this cage is so affordable that it’s not a big deal.

    I have the Neewer cage for the iPhone 15 Pro but when I put a K&F VND on it, it had nasty vignetting on the wide-angle (0.5x) lens. This demo didn’t seem to have that. Is it just a question of getting the right VND?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In my experience, yes. The higher quality VND perform better. Especially when it comes to vignetting or the dreaded X pattern when you close it down. Here I found there’s a little bit of vignetting, but not much and very easy to crop out in post. I personally only use filters from Freewell, Moment or Polar Pro. They are more expensive, but they’ll last pretty much forever and you can use them on any phone or traditional camera. Just buy the larger ones like 67mm or 77mm.
