Absolutely love that mini-driver/Frankenstein 3-wood setup that Marty has. This is the type of thing that could work for me since I really like to play my long clubs shorter than standard. Any plans to manufacture an actual mini-driver like some other OEMs are doing now?
Thank you for the comments, Ryan. No plans at this time. But, a setup similar to Marty's can be ordered through any PING-authorized golf shop. Play Your Best.
@@PING Could you fill us in on how Marty got the head weight high enough on this build? I’m not sure what his swing weight is but to get it to D4-ish, wouldn’t he have had to add a ton, like more than the heaviest weight you all offer? Maybe some hot melt can help get there? Thanks so much for engaging in these comments - this is awesome.
What are the shafts in the wedges? Are the wedges and irons Tour Issue Dynamic Gold? Are the irons soft stepped or regular? Tipping on the RDX Smoke Blue? Cheers!!!!
PING has really improved their total lineup the last 3-4 years. More offerings for better players. From woods to putter there really isn't a weak spot with their product line.
This video was great. Marty, are you playing the RDX Smoke Blue in your (long) driver in part because it’s counterbalanced? And are the Tour 2.0 shafts also counterbalanced, though I realize not as much as the Alta CBs are?
Thank you for the question, Eric. Yes, Marty is playing it because of the counterbalance and bend profile. The PING Tour 2.0 Black shafts are relatively counterbalanced for how stiff and stable they are.
Thanks for reaching out, Jason. We always recommend getting fit by an authorized PING fitter to determine the best equipment for your swing. You can find your nearest fitting facility here: bit.ly/3qinO4N
In between black and red… nice if you can get it. I asked for yellow lie angle when fitted for i230 by ping…. Was told NO. ( blue or green, that’s it) Also fitted off a matt…..not grass. Lastly custom fitting…. A screw on 7 iron head and that somehow fits you for irons. It nonsense. I’m tall so asked re a more upright hybrid… again a big no. I have played ping for nearly 40 years… but the custom fit think… I just don’t believe in it anymore. Normal golfers don’t get anywhere close to what u chaps are suggesting.
Check out PXG, great deals. Or buy used Ping, figure out your color code for lie angle and pings (especially the older irons) are built like tanks and last forever. I will sometimes go back to my old eye2’s that are circa 1983 and they still play very well.
Ping should offer the Marty Jertson fitting experience. Seems like a great guy to hang out with in addition to be super knowledgable.
He's way more valuable to the organization as a club designer/engineer.
@@john1959ism of course. It would still be great marketing for them to offer something like this in limited fashion
Love this. I had a great experience at the Proving Grounds meeting Marty and all the lead engineers. It was a great three days.
Thank you for the comment and for coming out to the PING Proving Grounds.
Can yall bring back the knit driver covers like Shane's driver cover?
Spoon feed me all the Marty content :)

Thank you for asking, Eric. Marty achieved the proper swing weight by using our heaviest CG Shifter along with some additional hotmelt.
I loved the I20 irons. I had a G30 4 wood that I wish I still had. That thing was long!
The double driver is SUCH a ping thing. Just pure pragmatism lol.

Would love to see a 7.5 driver head that can be turned down to 6 degrees from Ping. Would be a great fitting option!
WAY more interested in the Jertson bag!
I do the same with my 10.5. The fear of the hook is real.

I play a lot of Ping and have just been fitted driver and 7 wood SFTs.
any hotmelt in the 10k driver?

Love ping clubs! I game the i210
5-U. 10K Driver, 3-4 hybrids and TSR2 plus 3wood..
Marty plays his "mini" driver so short! Did he pick the length to go a certain distance or was it because he likes his FWs a little on the short side?
Marty, baby, talk to me!
On Marty's 2 wood, did he add weight to the head to maintain the swing weight? Hotmelt or larger CG shifter? Or is the Swing weight super light.
Thank you for the question. Marty went with a very heavy CG shifter and some additional hot melt to increase the weight in the head.
Is there a max weight allowable to add before it becomes non confirming?
Ok, so for the weekend hacker, what clubs should I buy?

So if I decrease my loft on a wood it will help it go left?
If you're RH, lowering the loft opens the face a bit, which would help it go right (or less left, depending on how you look at it).
What shaft is that on Marty’s Driver? New Ventus?
Thank you for the question. Marty is gaming the Hzrdus Smoke Blue RDX 60 TX in his driver.
What’s the head weight on that 42.5 inch driver?
The head weight is 206 grams. Let us know if you have any further questions.
WOW so innovative, guy just builds a mini driver, hmmm what other company has done that time n time again
Kinda different, but I get what you are sayin
