Wow wow wow that's what I love about you Andrew, your attention to detail is way out there compared to everyone else , this drone now puts you out on your own , looking forward to you taking the camera work to a new level , I salute you
What I love about this is that POV videos often don't convey the scale or steepness of terrain. I've seen many videos where I think, "I could ride that" then I get to the trail and it's way harder than the POV suggested. I think, given your riding locations, the future videos will be more epic.
I’ve always thought he the rides you do would look great with a following drone but understand the frustrations with the previous ones. Really look forward to the footage from this new one.
Your videos are just consistently brilliant. I’m at a stage in my life where I can’t get a mtb, but your videos keep up my moral while I get through it!
An amazing bit of tech. Can't wait to see it put to use on the big hills. But careful, next they will be sending you a robot that rides your Highlander better than you can!
Totally owsome video, I just bought one I've also purchased the Cinema package which has the beacon and the paddle my problem is the first time I flew it I held the land button and the little red circle appeared around the land button, and nothing happened it just sat there and hovered I had to wait until the Batterie died just to land.
Awesome, just what we've always wanted a drone to do. I've looked at these myself, but with only selling in USA/Canada I never had the ability to get my hands on one. Good effort from you to get one, looks well worth it.
@@McTrailRider very impressive! I already checked Skydio website. So I presume You bought that sport package? I'm pretty sure I'll get one at some point.
WOW. You are so lucky to get one of those. I use The Mavic Air 2 in my x-country trails and it is really good. I get some cool mtb tracking footage but that thing is ANOTHER LEVEL. Hopefully they will start to produce more and sell in the UK. Or maybe DJI will come up with something similar. AWESOME VIDEO. Cheers. Stoozer.
I wouldn’t say I’m lucky to open it, I paid a lot of money for it and went to quite a bit of effort to get it here. I think the Mavic Air 2 is pretty decent at active track and can work very well to be fair. I was hoping the air 3 would have been a rival to the Skydio, but it didn’t appear to be.
What an awesome bit of kit and the fact that there is no controller on your phone was a revelation. Great quality as well , really looking forward to the mix of videos when you revisit some of your great locations. PS still no new jacket for Piers ...?
That is fantastic. Videos are going to be up several levels (groan) from here on. The decision over which aspect to film from is easily solved. You just have to persuade Piers (Pierce?) to buy one to film from the opposite view. You know it makes sense.
Haha, I seen one of Nate hills recent videos, and he and his mate had two following them. I don’t think me or Piers have enough money the splash out on another one.
McTrail Rider v Nate Hills - should be interesting 👍😎 Looking forward to seeing our beautiful Scotland from a ‘Sedona’ perspective. Great stuff Andrew! ☝️
hey Andrew, thats an awesome bit of kit...mad control/follow system...your content is fantastic already but using the drone will take it to the next level if the 3rd person shots on this video are anything to go by -great investment mate, looking forward to some even more insane content from you - well done, enjoy it!
Wow this is really awesome! The only thing that could be improved a bit was if it had an option to keep both riders in the shot, maybe with a secondary beacon? I've seen you struggle with the previous drones and then this. Amazing how the technology has improved. Looking forward to more great videos with some drone shots mixed in. Oh and thanks for showing how beautiful Scotland is 👍
I can set the drone further back then I did in this video to get more in the shot, but there isn’t currently any way to set it to film more than one thing.
Absolutely delighted to see this for the 3rd person shots, totally new dimension to use in videos now. Looks very cool, packs neat like you mentioned too. Video quality also seemed really good. How long does a battery last and does the remote peep or use an audio alert to you know units running out?
Battery life is rated at 21 minutes, so probably around 18 of real world usage. I haven’t run it as low as 20% yet, but I’m pretty sure it will alert me, the beacon has alerted me of other things already.
Andrew, cracking footage. When you first used the unit in the UK did you notice any issues with setting it up as I am being told the frequencies are set for the US. Have you tried to do anymore with it other than what is in the video here?? Very keen to know more.
Have you been able to give it a go through a wooded area? I know it would be extremely limiting in what angles are available, but I'm wondering if it would be able to stick behind you in sort of a "low chase" angle.
Awesome footage awesome piece of kit. what weight is it? Where does it fall into the new uk draconian drone rules? Will you require a "third person" out of shot that we will never see keeping a visual spot on it while your riding😋 great addition to your channel👍💪👊
Pretty stunning stuff with that drone. I like how you can overlay the drone video, over your GoPro audio. Makes for a nice video/audio story. Does the drone have some sort of sensor that enables it to keep adequate elevation above the ground, so it doesn't fly into a rise in the land as you are riding?
Hi, like yourself, I'm local to Argyll and only recently found your channel. You have some inspirational videos here (hoping to do the Loch Muick loop later this month), what is the name of the hill that you descended in this one? Many thanks.
There's an mtb fella in the states done a few vids on the Skydio Two, he was left very frustrated by it, yours seemed much better, I wonder if there has been a firmware update for yours, top work.
Thats a sweet bit of kit. The beacon makes all the difference. Might have to hit up some mates in the States for one. Top vid as always. Ride Safe dude. 🏴🤙
@@McTrailRider I could watch that skydio 2 footage all day. As much as the 1st person footage is great, I struggle to understand the shape (steepness) of the terrain you ride, the Skydio really does give you a great perspective
Love the videos. I am from NZ but my wife is Scotish so have been lucky enough to do some riding in Scotland which is how I came across your channel. I have a skydio ordered and want it for the same reason you do. My worry is getting it to NZ. Did you have any issues with posting from the USA? Did it go air of sea freight? No problems with posting 3 batteries? Did you declare what it was? My brother in law lives in the states so I could do the same as you. Just worried it will get stopped at customs. Look forward to seeing what you can do with it.
It’s a complicated one. Don’t use USPS to send it, that’s my main advise. Everything was send legitimately without any problems, but I did get hit with import tax of £48.50.
All you need are customs orange propellers and it’s a perfect match. Hahah Have you tried it since, or will you try it in an area with more trees? It’s obviously AMAZING in open areas but I’m curious how it would do on a fast decent that has open bits and tree filled bits. Great video and thanks for the info.
Orange props 👍 I’m not really too keen on taking it anywhere where it might crash or get damaged, it was tough enough just getting it here never mind getting it fixed 😬

The drone footage is very impressive. No pixelation and vivid colours. The remote is the business 👍
I was pleasantly surprised with the camera quality 👍
That little robot is cool as hell those shots it makes are breathtaking perfect for where you are
The perfect match for the channel 👍
Yep - the Skydio is the biz. Very impressive indeed. I’m feeling jealous with my inferior Air 2. Your vids will have a new dimension to them now.
The air 2 is probably the nearest rival to be fair
Bloody hell Andy that's incredible. Can't wait to see what you guys are going to do now!!! Awesome.
The sky-dio is the limit 😜

Airways wanted to have this setup, just had to wait for the technology.
Brilliant Andrew, your videos and riding have came a long way since the early days when you were placing cameras in the woods. Thanks for everything.
Thanks Duke 👍
It's fair to say, that was a success. Certainly helps capture the stunning scenery where you are riding.
Very successful first flight 👍

Game changer indeed

Do you need separate insurance for a drone?
You need insurance if it’s over 20kgs and/or if you use it commercially.
