Hemochromatosis and Iron overload by Aftab Ala, MD (UK)

Aftab Ala is Professor of Hepatology at the Institute of Liver Studies at Kings College Hospital, London and the University of Surrey, Guildford. He is National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Director for South East England and Professional Director for Research and Development. He leads the adult genetic metabolic liver programme at Kings College Hospital
He qualified from Imperial College Medical School London in 1992, trained in specialist Gastroenterology and Hepatology at King's and Royal Free Hospitals London, before being appointed to Division of Liver Diseases and Recanti Miller Transplantation Institute, Mount Sinai Hospital New York, USA in 2003-4 with a focus on liver transplantation and rare genetic metabolic liver diseases.
He is Principal and Chief investigator in national and multi-center international clinical trials and research related to liver disease including genetic metabolic liver disease and inequalities of health. His research is funded by the NIHR and Medical Research Council clinical research fellows on the MD/PhD Research Programme at Kings College Hospital and the University of Surrey with established international collaborative links
