Cold frosty conditions, guessing early morning as the sun is low and the leaves were still frozen, I didn't see any issues with your road position or riding, sometimes it just gets you. Also @3:30 there's a very nice rainbow pride puddle on the road, stuff like that getting on your tyres doesn't help. As you do a lot of winter riding I would recommend a set of winter tyres.
ouch! hope you're not too badly bruised, glad the bike seems to be alright, did similar many years ago on a pretty blind roundabout - patch of leaves + hidden big rock in the road and down I went, no fun at all
Well, that fuckin' sucks. Did the left side of my GpZ in snow, similar sort of deal, then did the right side turning it round to go back to the house. Happens to all of us.
Not sure there was much you can do if you were not expecting ice. Welcome to the Club, although i rode offroad for many years so I am a platinum member of rhe falling off a motorcycle club. 😉
Yup that sucks mate, black ice is a basta , ive had a bunch of those through winter riding myself, if lucky you dont get injured, but the repairs can cost a tonne, all the best
I would have tried to avoid those leaves and so a slightly wider turn would have helped. Wet leaves, ice and diesel are always a no no. Though it is always easy to be wise after the event. Glad you are ok.
Just bad luck I think, glad you are OK👍 . Back in the 70's the Japanese Dunlops on my Honda would have you over even on a straight bit of road in the dry 😛
Seems like just bad luck to me, my thoughts in this weather is to take a corner in a way to reduce the amount of lean or turning you need to but even then you can just get unlucky. That's what crash protection is for and it looks like it did the job well. It didn't look like you bounced your helmet on the road either.
I was sorry to see you're crash, I'm glad you weren't hurt, and any crash you can walk away from is a good result. It's great it was minimal damage to. I hate ice because it's bloody hard to see,, black ice is even worse,, it's like a lottery these days on the roads that do and don't get treated,, mainly the main roads do,, side roads no..take care and have fun safe riding out there. I don't think you messed up to much..like you said probably a combination of taking the corner to close and ice or leaves or both, shit happens as they say its just the depth that varies. 😂
Had lots of offs in the early 70s during the winter traveling 30 miles to work at 5am before the gritter boys had woken up and having to stop occasionally to wrap my frozen hands round the exhaust pipe 😂, nothing you could do about it tho.
Jesus Mary Joseph hope you're ok Nat? Black ice is lethal. Near freezing temperatures and rain & it's not even peak winter... Time to take the train with the plebs me thinks?
my first crash was ice in works carpark and it knocked my confidance for so long dont let it learn and move on.
Safe riding mate.
Glad you're OK. Nice that someone helped out.
Much appreciated. There are still good people around.
I’m glad you’re okay mate and hopefully not too sore afterwards.
The bike took it well with your crash bungs.

Thanks mate. I am absolutely fine. Slightly hurty knee but all good
Ouch, that was unlikely Nat. Glad your OK. My rear wheel did the same on wet leaves last Sat although I caught it.
Very lucky and glad you're ok mate. I had an off on a wee 125 at a roundabout and broke my shoulder

I feel like you were faster into the corner then I would have been but I am glad you are ok.
