I'm a bit of a reader myself and I'm very amused and satisfied by this video. Also, I'm very impressed by the fact that they're still able to keep books that were written back in the old, old, old, OLD days...
"How can I help you?" "Ahhh yeah, may I borrow Mozart and Beethoven's original sheets, the original bible, first comic book to have been ever made: Marvel and DC included, a couple of newspapers highlighting important events and the first map to have ever been made, including Columbus' map just for extra information. "Ok" "Oh and do you know where to set up a ebay account by any chance, I need to sell a couple of things..."
Mohammed Zoheb meh, I prefer this less crowded channel rather than having millions of people viewing it and leaving childish comments... but yeah, you would need millions of people watching vids in a channel to make profits so I would love to enjoy this less crowded moments while it lasts.
IKR!! I mean their videos are amazing! and I thought this kind of vids are more youtube is all about - gives you useful information other than unimportant stuffs like many youtubers doing nowadays duh
Wtf? Being a librarian is awesome! I find hard copies very important. Especially nowadays, people are into digital stuffs which does not last forever not like those hard copies. Hands down to those collectors and librarians.
As an artist who works for videogames.. and seeing games disappear forever since their rights are gone or bigger companies remove old games so that they can show the NEW ones (Like the very first mafia) and make consumers forget about old ones hurts very much. WE need a library for games.. its burning of art if we dont have it
I once had a dream to become a librarian in a big library. I also sometimes imagine myself living in DC and going to the library of congress although I'm not even a US citizen.
Any manga published in the United States will actually be there. All publishers in the United States are required by law to make a copy of their books available to the Library of Congress.
I don’t understand: “receivers of knowledge” encompasses all types of librarians. All librarians are stewards of knowledge, and are to be respected as such
Little story incoming. At 1:25 there is a map of an little danish island that i grew up on. And I have cycled the island around, starting at "Nexø" and finishing at "Snogbæk" now you may continue watching the video :-D
Hey, Bornholm, I've seen that picture thing before, you can still buy those if you ever bother to go there. Ps. Bother to go, it's an amazing little island, even has a giant castle ruin on top of a giant cliff next to the ocean.
Funny enough, two large fires burned down the library in its history. The first one not being so damaging, the second one burning over 2/3rds of the librarys collection at the time. The government then commissioned a new library to be built of entirely fireproof materials to avoid another disaster and VOILA! The Jefferson Library was born
😏 As one that LOVES history and organizing, personally I think it'd be pretty cool & fun to work there. Even if it was just digitally scanning all the hard copies so as to have backups! 😁
SpockLogic not at all, the Congrees library keep records and books for almost every country, I had find myself very good documents, maps, and sources about my own country history in their database.
Unusual Mind You can't go onto the reference floor and touch things without a special ID. It's easy to get but too long of a process for tourists. I wrote my thesis there
Yeah there are many narcissistic Brits cause they all assume that they read more than Americans and thus “more intelligent” even though there is no difference.

"Do you have your library card?"
I've got the 1943 Vintage classic card, and that's part of this library too
Hasan Efendi aa
All these crispy sounds are satisfying as heck
this channel is so underrated
Mohammed Zoheb meh, I prefer this less crowded channel rather than having millions of people viewing it and leaving childish comments... but yeah, you would need millions of people watching vids in a channel to make profits so I would love to enjoy this less crowded moments while it lasts.
+Ario Budiarto totally correct, although the kind of effort they put in to make all these videos needs to be accredited by the world
Mohammed Zoheb I'm sure there will be a moment when the world pays attention to this channel someday :)
I agree
IKR!! I mean their videos are amazing! and I thought this kind of vids are more youtube is all about - gives you useful information other than unimportant stuffs like many youtubers doing nowadays duh
You can find some dankest middle age memes in there if you believe in yourself.
Michael Kimble
Oi, hath thou not seeneth the meme depicting thy field of little fucks to give?
i am not a collection guy but this library is amazing
fool boy what is a "collection guy"?
he is a guy who collects various things as a hobby
Wtf? Being a librarian is awesome! I find hard copies very important. Especially nowadays, people are into digital stuffs which does not last forever not like those hard copies. Hands down to those collectors and librarians.
Both digital stuff and hard copies don’t last forever, and both are equally important

I went there once. The art on the ceiling is worth the trip alone.
I'm just imaging the fresh library smell that place must have.
_talk about hoarding_
White Heterosexual Male hi
White Heterosexual Male shut it you white heterosexual male
@@connorh5335 Could it also be called preservation for the people?

ユーネト / Yuuneto not all manga is from Japan tho. They are from all around the world
Any manga published in the United States will actually be there. All publishers in the United States are required by law to make a copy of their books available to the Library of Congress.

Scout The fox hi
Scout The fox your spelling tells me you have no knowledge
+celine spelling don't have shit to do with having a 30 billion dollars networth
This is so amazing! Currently in school for librarianship, Library of Congress is a dream job O.O
This channel is so interesting! I love it.
2:00
I just found my dream job.
Ok I was not expecting her to whip out 50 Cent in the music archives lmao I was thinking more classical music lmao
When I grow older, I want to always read in a library as cool as the library of congress.
I'd love to visit a library like this someday, as a reader, and history-nut.
We shouldnt call them librarians, we should call them the receivers of knowledge
We should call them knowledge seekers like from avatar.
Archivalists ?
I don’t understand: “receivers of knowledge” encompasses all types of librarians. All librarians are stewards of knowledge, and are to be respected as such
If only KC had a comparable library 📚 ❤️
Little story incoming. At 1:25 there is a map of an little danish island that i grew up on. And I have cycled the island around, starting at "Nexø" and finishing at "Snogbæk" now you may continue watching the video :-D
2:55 Never thought I’d see that next to an X-men comic.
So much knowledge...
Wish I could live there.
Lily Raimey hi
Me too
Hello.
Let's all live there and become part of the collection.
Out of all maps.. A map of Bornholm 1:25. I find that very funny, dunno why
HejManden Jeg blev overrasket da jeg så det
"Excuse me, do you have a copy of 50 shades of grey?"
"I'm sorry, we don't have that in our library."
Hey, Bornholm, I've seen that picture thing before, you can still buy those if you ever bother to go there.
Ps. Bother to go, it's an amazing little island, even has a giant castle ruin on top of a giant cliff next to the ocean.
Would love to go visit there and see how big the collection is.
Golden Trout you'd have to get special permission to go inside their, though you could look at it through the Jefferson Building.
Bornholm! Great to see that there @ 1:26 the most beautiful island in Denmark.
Thanks for sharing!
I've been there and it is so beautiful 😍
I think I just teared up
I love you guys, can you please do the Metropolitan museum of art in NYC next?
Make it a series!
I wonder how much their magazine and newspaper subscriptions cost a *day.*
Amazing library!
Thats a really nice place, a lot of flammable materials all over the place. It would be a real shame if that place caught fire
Funny enough, two large fires burned down the library in its history. The first one not being so damaging, the second one burning over 2/3rds of the librarys collection at the time. The government then commissioned a new library to be built of entirely fireproof materials to avoid another disaster and VOILA! The Jefferson Library was born
Is it just me OR THIS CHANNEL NEEDS MORE SUBSCRIBERS?!?!?!?!?!?
i really love vids like this
😏 As one that LOVES history and organizing, personally I think it'd be pretty cool & fun to work there. Even if it was just digitally scanning all the hard copies so as to have backups! 😁
I need to go to this place so badly
I want *EVERYTHING* about Hamilton
at the start this reminded me of the desert library from The Last Airbender
Speechless
It would be damn devastating if this place caught fire. This is probably too negative but I don't know why I think about these things 😰
I'm sure they have thought of that.
Game Addiction I know but even a match could cause major damage to the library haha. especially the old books with skinny pages burn like gasoline
@@rambojohn9041 I can sympathize with that thought :'(
I honestly thought of that too. But let's pray it never happens.
How I wish this video was longer
Feel like a real life Wes Anderson film set
If it was allowed I would straight up live in the Library of Congress.....amazing.
owlislike I basically did when writing my thesis...was there from open to close most nights for a few months. It's magical!
amazing! !
Catigraph Reignmark hi
They got 50 cent. They're definitely legit.
is there a Pacific war news pages ? i were looking it for these few days
They even have 50 cent's get rich or die trying album cover #GETTHESTRAP
the archive library probably stores more info than my 1 terabyte ssd or 50%+ of it.
Probably much much more than it
It sucks that it mainly keeps track of US history.
SpockLogic not at all, the Congrees library keep records and books for almost every country, I had find myself very good documents, maps, and sources about my own country history in their database.
That's great to know, thanks for the clarification.
It only seems logical!! *wink wink*
So how does one become chief of something something section in the Library of Congress?
Wait you mean I can find an array of explicit books there
Hi
Nuriddin Tussupbek Hi butter.
+Ned Gold whaaaa
this is like heaven 😍i want to go there
History is very important to mankind's education because without it, we are doomed to rebeat it.
I want to smell those papers! 😂
I wanna go there and I don't even really like reading.. it sounds like a peaceful place..
I used to work with Melea! She's a really nice lady. She told me I should become a librarian too! Haha
bullshit
Wow. Even comics.
you guys should do a video about Debbie "The Rat Lady" Ducommun
i love u. so cool best channel ever
Oh My God!!!! Ahhh! I need to go there!!!
"So what are you looking for today?"
me: do you guys have Spaceballs: The Porno?
I'm surfing vids about libraries because my local one is closed on account of covid. Boy do I miss it.
Friend : Dude you hoard too much stuff
Me : No I don't!
Friend: Ok tell me about everything you have in your bedroom.
Me :
I would live in that comic section
1:25 Yay! Bornholm! 😂 🇩🇰
Alexander Schmidt Det er lidt mærkeligt af alle de kort de har, så viser de Bornholm 😂
how about a book about squishies?
Back in my day this library only had 16 books
Man, I want to go in there.
It would suck if the place burns down.
quisiera ver eso 😻 wow!!!
Sometimes I try to avoid these videos because they are too good... But then I just watch them anyway
Ash hi
That makes no sense.
_-[laughs in Library of Babel]-_
i soooooo want to go to the library of congress!!!!
WOW.. just wow..
Damn, i surely be crazy in that library.
it's freaking cool
aw what about the imortalized reel of star wars iv?
White Heterosexual Male hi
howdy
I would want to work there.
Paradise
Klaus would love this
Historians use these collections, but many ironically reject the views of the study of the past that these librarians offer.
All I could think of when I watched this was the library of Alexandria. Hope this doesnt turn out the same
LOOK AT ALL THOSE KNOWLEDGE
Looks like a museum to me
those stradivari is wasted sitting there forever. They are waiting to be played
Isn't that more in "Human Condition" than "Planet Earth"?
Is there a topic about not liking libraries
What if someone steals something from there? How do they avoid theft when millions of people go there?
Unusual Mind You can't go onto the reference floor and touch things without a special ID. It's easy to get but too long of a process for tourists. I wrote my thesis there
I wonder, do they have accurate accounts about native american history?
As much as anyone else has. They have some oral recordings from the late 1800s too.
People in England got upset when I described the Library of Congress as the world's largest. They insisted that the British Library was.
Yeah there are many narcissistic Brits cause they all assume that they read more than Americans and thus “more intelligent” even though there is no difference.
Vatican Archive or Urbino library
