It’s really interesting to see how far we’ve come from the USFF series Netburst era. Super hot and not much performance to show for it. Now we have PC’s this tiny and efficient that are able to blow away full multi-core workstations from 5 years ago running at full power. I do miss the cathardic sounds of mechanical HDD’s and activity lights showing you what’s going on inside the box. It seems more like a means to an end rather than experiencing your PC working through heavy workloads. Maybe I’m in the crazy minority here. Most other people I know hate loud PC’s but I like it.
I have the 5000 version at the office and it's a great little machine. It's much like the 7000 but the second SSD slot isn't fitted. You can get them with Type-C port on the back that is ideal for something like a 5k monitor and then still connect a couple of 4k monitors to the displayports as well.
I don't play video games anymore, but this pairs nicely with my M1 MacBook Pro, have them running off two dual screens and have an ultra-wide on the other side of my desk.
Dell does very nice work. I've got several older refurbished Dells, and although they're not the most up to date machines, they are very serviceable and sturdy. I don't even remember ever having a problem with any of them.
Interesting unit. I have read that there is an issue with the latest Microsoft updates for March. The issue has to do with a substantial decrease in read write speeds to the SSD. This might be the cause of the strange readings you got testing the SSD speed. A number of people has experienced this. It might be affecting your other tests. Who knows? You might want to back out the March update and see if this corrects the issue. Just a suggestion. Great review.
I do use such keyboard and mouse frome Dell for two years, thanks to our company, that supplied for working from home during Covid's lockdown. Initially I've concluded, that was the best keyboard I had ever had. But. Recently, numpad's "1" started working badly. Was frustrated. Even returned old Logitech for a week, but later on returned this Dell back. I just remember how it works. So, if you work hardly, probably don't expect it will serve you more then 3 years or so on.
Sir meteorlake with 50% better performance per watt than 13 gen is 100% confirmed to go on sale in November 2023 in low volumes or limited stocks. It won't have performance upgrade in CPU but 2 times faster igpu than 13 gen iris xe. This year Intel meteorlake laptops are looking crazy good and i wish they should use solid state cooling. Arrow lake desktop chips are also listed on hwinfo and coming in 2024.
This form factor is excellent with huge disadvantage that disappoints and pushes out of acquisition. This doesn't allow to power over USB-C despite it supports Alt mode Display Port over USB-C. So cables cluttering you will not avoid. Despite power from modern monitors may be even up to 130 Watt.
Would anyone know if I could take the internals from this PC and put them on a new mother board so I could add a graphics card to play games. I happened to get one super cheap and id prefer to use it instead of trying to sell it since I'm due for an upgrade.
If you compare from the ports and price points, Intel NUC costs more if you add memory, Drive etc. I am here after a year, Intel stopped its NUC line as on date.
Sorry Dell. Over priced. Why would anyone get this gutless APU micro desktop, when they can buy a base Mac Mini M2 for $599, with better graphics and performance. A lot quieter too. It will run windows better than a Windows machine. Seems everyone copies Apple on 8GB ram, windows desktops need 16gb at min, your not Apple, your systems are not as optimized. Hence ram hogs. Lol. Andrew your doing a great job, nothing against you.😊
Thanks and no offense taken of course. I will say this there is something to be said for being able to upgrade RAM, SSD, Wifi etc..Also, TI think the Mac Mini is geared towards a different audience than this particular micro computer. Having said that, the price of the Mac Mini is certainly a key point especially when you are getting better graphics performance. As for CPU performance, this Micro is really good as indicated by the single and multi-core performance. Also, running Windows in emulation mode in Parallels etc. is not really ideal since there will be some applications that will not work properly if at all.
@@andrewmarcdavid True, I agree with SSD and Ram upgrades, but as they are not integrated like Apples, slows down the speed. Have you tried the Microsoft Dev Kit Arm SD Gen 3 $599 USD or $799cad, 32 GB ram, 512gb SSD. Win 11 arm.

The Dell OptiPlex 7000 is a great alternative for those whose space is at a premium. Great video Andrew!! 👍😁
Again, a very good, compact and unbiased review! Thanks!
Thanks for testing the graphics, I’m looking to do some video editing and this has changed my mind on the dell micro range

Amazing, I thought this would be a thin client but this is a fully fledged thick client. Thanks.
I'm just here so I don't get fined
Thanks Bro! Appreciate it! Also once again congrats on 100K

Thanks for the info! I will definitely look into that.
Outstanding production, delivery, content, great work.🙂

I haven't used a desktop in a while; this is nice!
It really is!
It is good for CPU only tasks. You must better build a PC with i5 13600k and RTX 4070ti or 4070 gpu.
You lost me at integrated GPU, not because I need gaming capabilities, but because I need to drive a large external monitor.
Whoa! 2452 single core and 13,086 multi-core score. That CPU bad boy is blazing fast.
The M2 mini doesn't get scores that high.
Excellent review. Very useful.

They should have had a pcie slot for a gpu so if you want to upgrade to a bigger case and gpu you can. It would have been a nice option

my favourite one beside mac mini
I saw one of these on Amazon that manages to cram in a 14900K of all CPUs
What about modeling solidworks and others 3Ds?
Is it possible to connect this to a Mac Book Laptop?

Hi can you please let me know if I can use it for network lab purpose , for example for the use of packet tracer / gns 3 / VMware kind of stuffs
the gpu is shamefully slow but I love desktop computers!
The model that has one HDMI and one Display port, can you connect two monitors?
Yes
When are you getting the XPS 15 9530 (2023) to review?
Should be soon. Stay tuned
As normal with dell, the price is too high.
Hi Andrew! Can you recommend a quiet optiplex micro pc? I had to return the one you reviewed due to HUGE and annoying NOISE
Can the GPU be upgraded/replaced with something faster?
Does this model have a hard drive?
You can install a 2.5" HDD if you want.
Thanks for the review. Intel NUC seems a better choice than this

It is super noisy after about 1 hour of work without doing any load at all.
Hi Andrew Can you pls do a 2023 review on the ''Asus ROG Flow 2023 version pls
You can only mount it behind the monitor if the monitor is less than 28 inches
My is not displaying on screen what could be the issue
No models available without os 😮
Picked up your mind? I'm sure it's ok 💌🎭❤
