I watched it today, halfway through the movie I realized that no character is safe not even the kids and no idea if anyone was gonna make it out. Made it so much more thrilling to watch.

Yeah. It was shocking watching the family die and become possessed from oldest to youngest. Was actually suprised when the youngest kid made it out. I'd say it's a good sign for a horror movie when you have no idea who is going to live and die

I’m just saying after watching Jurassic Park dominion and other movies where zero of the main characters die it was a relief to see more than half of em die. Like yea I had a good idea the one sister and probably the youngest kid would survive was my guess but still they didn’t hold back

@@blairbrendasmith7798 yeah like if it were a conjuring movie, no one would die at all and you already know that, in this one you are concerned about every character cause you dont know if they will die or not.

lol yeah Jeremy shouldnt feel bad about enjoying a good antagonist - sometimes we enjoy a charming, funny psycho antagonist more than we do the cookie-cutter good guys xD
Heath Ledger's Joker case in point, or maybe Hans Gruber from Die Hard. It happens lol
The fact that she can do that with an evil demon though, that just speaks to her acting chops and the good scripting / dialogue.

Made the old one more scarier to me was the suspense. The buildup. The storyline; I actually got to know some of the characters first.
When he read the words out loud Mia just didn’t automatically get possessed and start killing people. It didn’t just happen so fast
You actually got to see how it changed her and how she knew something was wrong. But they all thought she had a drug problem because they she did previously have one.

Apart from that I thought it really lacked in character build up (I didn't care about any of them) and tension (all jump scared were predictable, the sound design is partly to blame for this, making me anticipate the scare before it happens.)

I mean when you think back to the Exorcist and stuff... yeah... there could have been a lot more abusive language being said in this movie... the demon's insults were the weakest part... the gore was alright but it was way better in 2013 Evil Dead... the final kill wasn't nearly as satisfying either.

Am I into horror movies? No
    Will I see this? No
Will I watch every single Jeremy review that comes out? Absolutely.

I barely see any of the movies reviewed, horror or otherwise, even the good ones. Watch all the reviews though. I like how they are short and to the point.

My wife and I went out to see it last night and really enjoyed it! The makeup and special effects were awesome; even the sound design had me look over my shoulder sometimes. The "funny" parts I think you may be referring to about "the demon's one-liners" were hilarious and the whole theater was geeking lol. I love the satirical, over-the-top gore with some seriously frightening characters. Highly recommend!

Loved it, The one thing it didn't really understand though is the building used to be a bank so did I miss something... Why was there just a separate room with a bunch of crosses and preist stuff going the book in an old bank in LA?

@@ignitetheinferno1858 I agree that Jeremy is the better reviewer overall since Chris purposely ventures into contrarianism more often than not but I still like watching Chris too because he reviews a lot more arthouse and indie horror films that don’t get as much attention.

It’s that 2023 snowflake shit.. this would have been made way better had it been made 10 years ago.. oh wait, it was. The 2013 version eats this shit for breakfast.

I want a director to make a ten-minute-long feature film that is actually in theaters just so Jeremy can't say it could've shaved ten or fifteen minutes off the runtime.

Am I the only one that thought this movie lacked the flair of a good evil dead movie?? It was shit.
It felt like a cheesy “insidious” evil dead movie.
The 2013 evil dead was leaps and bounds better IMO.
Also what’s with the gender neutral kids.
    That is all.

Funny I was also thinking about the kid's therapy bills as I was watching this.
Then I realized she's never really in the same shot as the evil mom. Or at least the moment I started paying attention, she wasn't. The camera was always cutting to the kid's face, then to the evil mom, then back to kid and so on.
But nevertheless scenes where she was covered in blood may be traumatizing.
I really enjoyed this movie! I think it was the best horror movies that came out in recent years. Lots of scenes that made me cringe. And definitely one of the goriest films I've seen ever.
