    This was my first euro car coming from a crappy dodge dart. Man I love this as a daily driver. Same engine but has all extras (navi, heated leather seats, sunroof). It currently has 140k miles or 225,000 km. Best car I’ve ever owned. Not a single warning on dash. I use 91 octane fuel so I get somewhat good gas mileage, and its better than any other 4 cylinder car ive driven before. I just can’t get rid of it, its comfortable to drive, engine sounds so fricking good when accelerating. I would absolutely reccomend this sedan to anyone. I havent replaced that much, just throttle body, n80 purge valve and crankshaft sensor. Thats it.

      Awesome! Thanks for your comment, your case is proof that these Jettas are so reliable, hope you will continue enjoying it! I haven’t tried using 91 octane fuel, does it actually get better gas mileage, so it’s actually worth it?

      @@savvywheels Im actually from South America, so gas quality here in some cases is awful. Using regular (85oct), made my jetta shake when idling, then I switched to 91 and the shaking was gone, and I feel like as soon as I press the pedal, my jetta moves; before when using regular, the car felt heavier. I would say yes, its worth it, since here, premium fuel. (91 or greater), costs only like $0.30 more than regular fuel. Oh, I also highly suggest to get yourself an ObdEleven scanner tool. It literally finds any problem in your jetta since it scans every module. You can also customize it, by adding dashboard needlesweep, opening/closing sunroof and windows with keyfob with no need of being inside the car.

    This is also my first car and i still have it. 2011 2.5 bought at 83k miles for 9200.. i have done some mods to it like coilovers, wheels, muffer delete, etc. Its not perfect because of its age but it is pretty reliable and sounds pretty damn good

    I just picked up a 12 Jetta SE 5 speed and agree with a lot of your points. It is a simple design that doesn’t really stand out which usually translate to timeless. The 2.5 is known to be very reliable and I also said the same about interior, for a compact car it has plenty of space I’d even go out on a limb and say it has as much room as most mid size cars/trucks if not a little less.

      Congrats on your 12 Jetta SE 5 speed! It's a great buy, and having a manual is definitely a plus. I agree so much with you about the interior space, it doesn't look like it has a lot of space from the outside, but when you actually step into the car, it's so spacious. Thanks for your comment!

    Volkswagens 2.5 motor is pretty much bulletproof. While VW has had some not so great vehicles they are not a bad car company in terms of reliability like many people claim. A lot of it comes down to the owners. As long as you keep up on maintenance, a VW like this can be a fantastic car and should give you no issues.

    • @savvywheels
      @savvywheels  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@pitwhip I definitely with you on this, the 2.5 engine is a hidden gem among VW older products. These 5-cylinder motors have proven to be very reliable long term, and it is typical to see these engines go beyond 200k miles with proper maintenance. And I agree that it all depends on an owner, german cars need proper maintenance for them to be dependable, and a lot of owners neglect it. Therefore, we see this bad rep around them.

      I will give you a fair warning. Do not do one single modification to that car. If you do, you will never ever be able to stop. You have been warned....
