    Fairly surprised The Seleucids from RTW didn't make this list. They have one of the better, more diverse army rosters in the game and control a sizable empire in one of the wealthier regions of the map, but usually die early if not controlled by the player because everyone hates them.

    For those asking about the Seluecids in Rome 1, I feel like he didn’t include them for the same reason he didn’t include the Western Roman Empire, the strength at the start is just non-existent, I mean 2 of their 6 starting regions don’t even have any walls yet, so it’s incredibly easy to stroll right in, hell Hatra is defended by 2 peasants and a militia hoplite and is too far away from Antioch to get reinforcements. There’s no infrastructure everything is underdeveloped stretched so thin they may as well be separate city states on a strained undeveloped economy with shit for an army. If they can halt the assaults on Antioch long enough to build it up though, they can become a force of nature

    • @alex_zetsu
      @alex_zetsu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But his reason for not including the Western Roman Empire is a bit silly, so if the Seleucids don't count by the same reason, it's also problematic.

    • @karlwittenburg5868
      @karlwittenburg5868 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@alex_zetsu his reason for not including them is because he’s separating fragile from weak. West Rome and the Seleucids aren’t fragile, they’re just weak. It’s not like the Seleucid’s are a powerhouse until they lose Antioch, because I’ve seen the seleucids get reduced to just Sardis and Seleucia and then hold on strong for the rest of the game. They just don’t have the resources at the start to deal with it, so they’re weak. But East Rome on the other hand, once I see them lose Constantinople, it’s over. They just evaporate into the dustbin of history like dry ice. That’s fragile

    • @Grivehn
      @Grivehn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldnt say its interesting, given these placeholder factions LL factions start at war with, should always just die imo.
      Currently there are a number of LL factions which you'll never see if you dont start next to them.
      These include Lizardmen /Mazdamundi (killed by either Skeggi or New World)
      Vampires/ Vlad and Mannfred actually, even if he lives longer,
      Lokhir,
      Khalida,
      all the Skaven most of the time,
      all VCoast (whenever Tyrion decides to slap the Maelstrom.. or Teclis, altho I've no idea how he confederates Tyrion nowadays when Tyrion is always larger, the other Vcoast lords usually die before that),
      Arkhan,
      Skarsnik, other Greenskins are usually also killed by Dwarves,
      Beastmen (ofc they're a bit special. But imo the main Beastmen faction should return EVERY TIME, not some crappy noname horde),
      Dark Elves also have a hard time because of the northern Chaos armies usually going for their coast first, not Ulthuan.
      So yeah, in current patch Order factions rule by a huge margin. If there is a top 5, I can tell you who they tend to be: High Elves, Empire, Dwarves, Bretonnia and Settra/Kroq-gar.
      If you're evil you'll have a hard time surviving. Esp. since most evil factions hate each other just as well and rarely confed (except dark elves). So by the time Archaon dies, the world is usually a happy place with the End Times averted and world peace achieved.
      And most Legendary Lords get to be actually legendary, as some item in rpg-s, since there is a really small chance you can get their traits. Some may like it, but I think non-Order factions need a buff somehow.
      And yeah, I remember the patch before this, where Vcoast and Vcounts ruled hard. That was the other end, but this isnt good either.

I've had it where the empire was straight up divided north and south and bretonnia divided as well with the red duke and Kemlar making almost of world of death. I was the vamp coast at the time and loved seeing the world fall with all the undead working together to kill off everyone else. with the newest update I think there are a few more factions that you will add either huntsmarshal or the wondering lizard. Yeah, same. It's a real shame because as a player it would be really cool to face off against all their high-tier units in the late game, but it just never happens.
      That said I'm currently playing Europa Barbarorum and the Seleucid Empire isn't such a pushover which is cool (currently playing as Macedon ravaging egypt).

    Much to my surprise, the Prince attacked me to avenge his father and I naturally crushed him and his 26 bodyguards.

They were for the longest time my greatest enemy, even though I was fighting Denmark, HRE, Poland, Russia, The Papal States, Sicily, Moors, Spain and Milan at the same time. The entire Iberian Peninsula was allied by the end of turn 10. My only friends were the Egyptians, and sort've France- but I sure as heck didn't return Paris to them after 'liberating' it from Portugal. I spent the whole game excommunicated and the Portuguese sent at least two crusader armies to Rennes to take it from me. The most legendary defense I ever pulled off was their second attempt- where I had about 14 men defending against a full stack at the start, and there were 3 men left when the Portuguese went running. The Seleucids from Rome total war should if not outright on the list at least an Honourable Mention. They have Pike Phalanxes in a game where they are utterly broken if you know what your doing. Perfect Roman Legionary copies which if your doing well you can get before the Romans even get their legionaries. Some excellent Heavy Cavalry, Elephants, Scythed Chariots and skirmishes about as good as every other factions. Yet everyone hates them so they get dog pilled by the factions around them who start off in roughly as strong a position as them. Poor settlements with limited development which means at the start they can't build any of their best units and their settlements are both scattered about and each has an enemy who would love to take it personally. They normally fall in fairly quick order even though in the right hands they have all the tools to be very powerful.

    How about another video like this concerning only factions within Total War: Three Kingdoms?
    For instance, in my experience, Zheng Jiang rarely survives long enough for me to actually meet her faction unless I happen to be playing as either Dong Zhuo (as he starts off basically neighboring Zheng Jiang, and since the Han Empire is his vassal, he basically can engage with any other faction diplomatically), Zhang Yan, or Yuan Shao. Sure, Zheng Jiang sometimes does survive (hell, in one of my playthroughs, she captured Chang'an before I actually could even reach Chang'an!), and this can make her a formidable presence (if she survives, I usually try to ally and trade with her rather than attack her in the hopes of making her like me enough that if she gets wiped out by someone, Zheng Jiang herself will show up in my faction's recruitment pool). Zhang Yan actually seems to have an easier time surviving while under AI control than Zheng Jiang does, in my experience.
