    Fair comment. It is really great they found something they both really "loved" in the end [the dining room couple]. AND the other couple struck gold, too. Happy ending etc...
    But generally, these days, very few are prepared to take on a project, despite the real financial gains to be had ... But even as I speak: The Hay-making Summer is now over/Winter's here, now... Harder to realize gains now that the property boom has turned to bust.

Cheap to do, too. BUT NO INTEREST AT ALL. ???

    • @thehungrygoldfish
      @thehungrygoldfish ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but the house doesn't fit their needs. Remember, they wanted a dining room. Yes, it's an eat-in kitchen, but look at where the table is. It's smushed in the corner because of the cabinets around it and the sellers wanted to give the illusion of space. The chairs are literally up against the wall. When they're using it, they can't access the counter or cabinets and it looks like it's a squeeze.

      Not for what is termed a cottage industry (literally can be done in a cottage/residential area without disturbing neighbors). Larger scale yes you need to be in a property that is sold as 'retail/manufacturing/whatever'. They don't zone areas unless it's like a business park. As in most older countries, small stores intermingle with residential areas - which is great for the 'local shop' that people can walk easily to from their homes.

      @@thehungrygoldfish Actually most people will, especially when buying a house. And if they don't, like they didn't in this case, it just goes to further prove the short sightedness. The sister could have two babies in a row and move miles away within two years. I mean the poor boyfriend was totally not even considered in this equation either, while I think he's a sweet chap, he needed a bit of a backbone in this as well. When your family rules your life, it should be a major red flag for the partner.

      @@trildi A little far ahead, sure, like five years. 12 years? No. Not many people are going to think that far ahead. Some, yes, but not a lot, especially at the age of TWENTY. She was TWENTY, ffs. She's not going to think what's going to happen in her life 12 years later when she's 32. lol

    Shame on any family who only use their dining room for Christmas and Easter. It should be used every night whenever possible. No wonder modern families are falling apart because of lack of communication. Sitting around the dinner table together is paramount to family harmony.

      I actually looked like last month. Prices are relatively affordable. The prices in Redcar seemed more or less the same and there were A TON of houses for sale.

    NONE OF THESE HOMES HAVE BASEMENTS, LAUNDRY ROOMS, ENTRANCE CLOSETS FOR COATS AND SHOES. VERY DIFFERENT. WASHING MACHINES IN THE KITCHEN TAKING AWAY VALUABLE STORAGE SPACE. NO DRYERS OR DISHWASHERS, ETC.

      I actually winced when she said that. Now you know why the British are ranked bottom in Europe when it comes to learning foreign languages. I mean, it was hardly a difficult phrase. It was even a Eurovision song title once!

      @@karent-s7639 I missed that part where she said "apres tu". (I scrolled back to find it but was unsuccessful.) But if that's what she said, then based on these comments, it seems to me that when she said "Do you mind the 'tu'," she meant "do you mind my tutoyering you instead of vousvoyezing", and Tony laughingly said "no". Whereas (according to my high school French) I think the faux pas folks are pointing out here is that she should have said "apres *toi* ". Or apres vous, whatever.
