ARRMA teamed up with Team Losi Racing (TLR) to bring us this 1/8th scale race ready TLR Tuned Typhon roller. The first wow factor is the paint job on this beauty. Once you can stop staring at the paint scheme, you quickly notice the TLR Tuned 7075 T6 aluminum anodized shock towers. They are thick and have a lot of adjustability for your shock setup. Below those are the adjustable suspension hangers that have many different inserts (in the box) that you can swap out to tune it for the driving conditions.
The tires are new multi-terrain DBOOTS Exabyte race compound tires. Taking off the top reveals the TLR Tuned 7075 T6 chassis and steering rack. The Typhon was a pretty well built RTR vehicle in the past and all these upgrades take the TLR Tuned version to the next level.
I am speculating and guessing that the TLR Tuned version is meant to be an offering for the Typhon that is similar to the EXB versions of their other vehicles. With the Typhon, however, they made it strong enough to bash, but tunable enough to race or turn into the crazy high speed vehicle we see people convert Typhons into.
I can't wait to try new electronics in this and see how we can get it to perform. Currently I put in electronics I had with me at Horizon RC Fest in my LMT parts bin. They aren't a perfect setup for a race buggy, but it will get us on the track.

Nice first look Tony. This sees like a great entry to racing buggy. I know a lot of guys start off with 2WD and work their way up to 4WD but for those that prefer 4WD this is great. Can't wait to see your footage at the RC Fest. Always enjoy those videos.

Guess they know I'll work hard with it. I haven't really even got to drive it. I had Josh run it today because he has raced before and would be better with it. I'm just working on the video side of it right now. Hopefully I'll get to run it tomorrow before this event ends.

Nice vid Tony!! Arrma does it Again!! Those shock towers are beefy. Hinge pin system looks legit. Tons of adjustments. Plus it's a roller, so your choice of electronics. Horizon owns Arrma these days ..But this rig is not TLR one bit beside the branding lol.. This is team Durango.. Hobbico/Arrma old racing line before hobbico went under after the Traxxas lawsuit
@@philthyco1 you don't think TLR designed the chassis and towers ect , team Durango had a tunable typhon ? I know arrma copied mugens differentials just used cheaper metals

@@philthyco1 oh , I wasn't into the hobby during team Durango time, atleast as much . One of our local hobbystore mostly deals with 5th scale guys from the city was pist they got put out of business. Good ol traxxas ... Don't you have 6s typhon , I remember you got the old switcheroo 3s in 6s box lol . You were going do a comparison with TC BUGGY , typhon actually my last rc purchase except for fazer chevelle I haven't received yet .

I have a brand new Arrma 4s system which is a 120 amp esc. It’s the system out of the Arrma 4s trucks. How do you think that system would do in this buggy? Or should I just go with a 6s system and run 4s.

Is the Spektrum electronics usage in a race buggy due to it being "Horizon" unboxing? Definitely a good buggy for someone wanting to get into racing and not spend $700 on a kit.
No. I say in the video that it's because we want to run it and it's all I had. THe electronics were ones I had in my LMT Parts bin for a build. I brought the bin in case I break a part while bashing here. Just got lucky to have electronics to finish it. These wouldn't be a Race choice. Would want it to be sensored.

@@CCxRC But why did you try to install the Spektrum servo even though you thought it would be too small anyways? You should have installed the Reefs servo in the first place since everything is getting removed anyways because you just wanted to test it it right there.
It's okay, we understand why you tried to go all Spektrum. I'm pretty sure if you had the choice to install anything for this demo with any parts available, you would have still installed all Spektrum, well at least all Horizon stuff anyways. Please don't try to say anything to the contrary.

It Would actually be the spektrum 150a esc with a 2050kv for the 6s setup.
The 160a will not mount in this chassis.

Everything look good on this new typhon expect the plastic adjustment black, will that really hold up, overtime plastic will crack, specially with so much metal on a truggy, why tlr and arrma make the adjustment black metal at the beginning??? 🤔 Long-term i think the adjustment black will be a weak spot (that mean a lot of weak spot, specially there are so many adjustment black on this typhon, this will make it weaker then the previous generation.
Hopefully it comes with a coupon for a free clear body lol the Barbie body is not my style haha

Try seed running it with that set up what pinion do you have
It's a 14t pinion. Got pretty warm running a full pack through it on the track today. I heard the Spektrum 1900kv 1/8 system works well in it.
