there is something magical about a rotary engine, it just looks amazing spinning like that and man this this engine can idle pretty low, there is nothing like something that is this close in appearance, construction and operation to the real thing! Bravo, hats off to you sir! Now I never flown or own an RC plane but do have a good amount of production open rocker engines, single cylinder etc on me and one day I want to build a plane that flies as slow as this powered by an OS FS 60 open rocker which I own 2 of. just lovely to watch this plane floating away like that in the air, you see it all in sort of like slow motion. Just wonderful!
its actually how the original radials were built and operated in RL, as the engines got progressively larger, radials were further developed to stay stationary and turn the prop instead (no idea why this happened, maybe to do with the torque created by spinning ever increasingly larger engines)
the real reason for being rotary is to eliminate the mass of the flywheel of the engine and build a lighter engine. in this case the cylinders will act as flywheel. The problem was created by the gyroscopic forces that made difficult to turn the plane to one side, this is was abandoned later.
What a beauty, and a rotary engine too! Thoroughly enjoyed the pre flight and start up - and just terrific to see it in the air. What a sweet take off. Looks as though it flies on just rudder/elevator - and just as I thought it was coming in for a landing it was in the crops. Very concerning but thank goodness it's not too badly damaged. Definite need for much larger elevator throw.

@@RCScaleAirplanes I knew someone who told me that on WW I fighters with rotary engines, gyroscopic couple was strong, turning one side induced pitching up,and other side pitching down. Also there was no idle, only cut off or power for final. Those technical problem value your realization.Sincere congratulations and keep safe!
@@eriklapparent4662 Thanks again for your comment. The pilot knew the behavior of the model with a rotary engine. Especially when turning right, there is a risk that the aircraft could tip over to the right over the wing. During the landing approach, the pilot had reduced the engine speed a little too long. The engine response is much longer than that of a radial engine. The center of gravity was also wrong and the deflection of the elevator was too small. The model has been repaired and the necessary corrections were done.
@@RCScaleAirplanes Absolutely! You're right, two main factors are acting, this gyroscopic torque, and the Reynold's law, which makes "the bigger the better".Of course C.G. location is the basis for static stability.Increasing elevator deflection is the right thing too.Anyway this is a beautiful model which realization has surely needed a lot of working hours. Many thanks for the entertainment and stay safe!
Hello ,I'm sorry ot bother but I'm quite impressed by the Rotary engine on the Caudron model. Is it a unique piece, made for this model? The propeller too?About control in flight I wonder if Reynolds law makes necessary to increase a bit the size of stabilator, elevator and rudder?Alas in this case, scale should not be exact...How is banking controlled?Anyhow,it's easy to comment, and more difficult to realize...In French we say that:"Les conseilleurs ne sont pas toujours les payeurs" or grossly:"Advisors are not the ones who pay...".Congratulations again for this daring technical achievment.

That’s neat. My late father would have loved this👍👍🙏🙏
This is very amazing RC aircraft.
mit Umlaufmotor, wow tolle Umsetzung! Respekt!
Vielen Dank Alois. Freut mich, dass dir das Video gefällt.
That is really scale - great job
What a rare rotary engine beauty - she purrs! Love how you shot the intro with whimsical music. Very cinematic! Great job filming sir!
Que fantástico....lo que me gusta todo esto....llevo 8 meses sin trabajo, imposible hacer nada en España
Very realistic demonstration of a top model, great building performance, respect! Video is so realistically... like those magnificent men in their flying machines .... thx Horst, great 👍
Wow!
Excellent job-Your hard work paid off.
Just a minor mishap-no need to worry :)
Felicitaciones amigos, les deseo éxitos 🏁
Saludos desde Ecuador 🇪🇨
Gracias 🤙😎
Linda replica clássica parabéns belo voo pena que deu uma pane .faz parte do aeromodelismo.forte abraço a todos amantes do aeromodelismo
Wonderful airplane! Love the rotary engine, I did not know you could buy one for a model. My grandfather learned to fly in a Caudron G3 at the Ruffy-Baumann Flying School in Herndon, London, in late 1915. Flew a twin Anzani engined Caudron G4 and a Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter, among other airplanes, for the war. He survived the war but not the 1920s.
What a great story. Thank you for posting. Yes. this engine is available, but it needs about one year to delivery because it's completely handmade and it's build on request only.
_Glad you enjoyed the video._ 🤙😎
No hay palabras para describir esa hermosura
It's beautiful and great engine sounds
Thank you very much!
What a beauty!
_Thank you !!!_
Beautiful plane.
It sure is!
Wow, that was very beautiful in flight. Although the end was very sad.
Beautiful! Also sturdy enough to endure such an accident.
Super model, rotary engine should not help in control in flight. Congratulations !Hello from France !
Yes, you are right. Thank you for your kind comment !!!
What a nice job on the build. Really sorry about the damage but glad it was minimal. I have a much smaller (40 size) Morane Saulnier that is quite similar to your plane. It needs a lot of control surface authority as well. And yes, it has had similar landings but, is still flying and looks great! Again, great job on the build and thank you for the video!
That thing is gorgeous!
Thank you !
👍awesome model👍
Thank you! Cheers!
