That is a magnificent airplane, just beautiful and spectacular. One of my favorite aircraft of all time. Fantastic pilot too. Wonderful demonstration of precision flying. Very daring I might add. I was expecting a pile of splinters any second if the wing stalled, but no, both pilot and triplane took it well flying on the very thin edge of the aerodynamic envelope. Majestic in every way. Very few r/c demonstrations equal this one. Thanks for sharing. Oh, almost forgot to mention that beautiful engine and sound. Very delightful. The smoke system made a nice touch as well. I was happy that other r/c pilots remained quiet in respect for this grand demonstration and audio.
_Thank you for your great comment, which I really appreciate._ On airshows only one aircraft is flying. Except formation flights. The only what can ruin the demonstration flight can be playing music, or continued voice of the announcer. _Cheers, RCSA_ 😉👍
That was my first thoughts as well! Absolutely gorgeous Fokker DR.I It’s hard for a lot of people to understand how much time and effort it takes to build something like that. Excellent airmanship as well. If you know a really good machinist maybe you can help him build you an actual Oberursel Ur.II engine.🤔
The most awesome HUGE tri wing model and piloting skills I ever saw. I LOVE the big and slow stuff, it looks more real scale up there. And the right photographer skills, all 3 came together perfecto!!!
Excellent piloting indeed. Someone that knows how to use the rudder. Too often we see big, expensive models crash because the RC-pilot does not have a basic understanding of what the rudder is meant for. Brilliant flying !
MVR would be far beyond only proud. Superlative flying. Mad respect to the pilot, courage beyond compare too. Thanks to all involved with presenting this. Spectacular!!
Superb flying! 3:27 I bet that slip is so difficult to do not to mention the "stand still" attempt at 4:06. You could see the control surfaces going crazy. Good job to who ever is in the controls
Without doubt, the most beautiful warbird ever made! And the pilot isn't too shabby either. Congratulations on your plane, and thank you so much for the video.I am really happy to have seen it. Bravo!
I knew that the original (1:1) Fokker Dr I triplane was very maneuverable (and still is, e.g. the replica flown by Mikael Carlson on different airshows), but this even tops it by "shifting" and nearly standing still in the air, almost like a helicopter. Marvelous!
Unbelievable model and what an awesome pilot you are! The Red Baron would be proud of your machine and your flying skills. He'd also be wanting to have a full scale replica of you DR-I to fly it himself! Cheers.
This is just STUNNING! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The clouds on a blue sky sunny day are the perfect backdrop. Why aren't schools bringing children out to these shows? I'll take a model plane over a drone. This is a great Christmas gift idea.
Stunned!!! This was just autoplaying in my feed, so started watching after it took off, and thought it was a restored or recreated Real Fokker, until I realized it was RC... WOW! amazing fun!!!!
Countless superb accolades, all well earned. Has anyone noticed that Gernot Bruckmann even modeled HIMSELF as the model's pilot ??? !!! The crowning touch to this stunning machine. A+++ !!!
I cant believe how much control response there is o this aeroplane, even at just wind speed, an amazing display, and really well captured for us by you Horst, many thanks for posting this !
A tribute to the builder, & the original design, & of course, the pilot! Thanks also to the power of that engine, it takes lots of it to do those incredible acrobatics, & the superb ability & skill of the one flying it. Fantastic!
Julian Easton _Thank you for your kind comments._ I was thinking of making some artificial sound effects on warbirds, but it takes too much time to realise it. Maybe I can do it one day.
Well, to keep it brief, if I were looking from the distance I would have thought it was an original full size plane! What a beautiful replica and flight characteristics. This is a real gem and enjoy to watch.
One of the most authentic scale models of this iconic aircraft. It flies so beautiful and looks like it could go airborne with an actual person pilot, not demeaning the skills of it's radio control pilot who is a real person, just meaning the plane looks capable of carrying a person.
@@RCScaleAirplanes It reminds me of the Von Richthofen, the Red Baron and the WWI dogfights. Thank you for sharing. It must have taken a lot of time and love and I'm sure a little pile of hard earned cash of course but you honestly did a great job!👍

Wow what a beast! You couldn't ask for an easier starting radial.😁 Maybe he just got lucky, but that Valach 820 was idling almost before he got his hand off the prop! Size helps too. The larger the engine, the more predictable it's going to be with starting and running.😉👍

Just a century a go engineers were struggling to get these to perform satisfactory, and now we have guys remotely flying these for fun with much higher self-relative performance
Outstanding looking and flying! The only change I would make is to put goggles on the pilot - would stand out and look far more real, as nobody would fly an open cockpit plane with no eye protection. Excellent video.
It's just astonishing, the appearance of very large scale RC models in recent years. I have nothing more to add to the complimentary comments that others have already submitted here. _Except one:_ Why, oh why, did you not implement this as a rotary, not a radial, engine?! Is there some mechanical limitation of the engine itself? Fighting counter-torque and gyroscopic effect, as WW1 pilots had to do, would have been very realistic flight characteristics, indeed! _Actually,_ two _comments:_ You are the only one(s) to have thought of a "dashing" silk neck scarf streaming in the wind. Well done!
The largest rotary motor I know for RC models is made by Armin de Vries. It has 340 cc and is unfortunately much too small for this big Fokker DR1. _Thank you for your great comment, which I really appreciate !!!_ 🤙😎
I am absolutely amazed at how nimble this bird is for the size. Low stall speed, and handles beautifully. Nice quiet motor, and it sounds like he never really wound it up very high.
Horst, I could watch that all day long.....amazing! Who needs a helicopter or even a hot-air balloon when you can fly one of these instead; very cool! Cheers, Dougal
A perfectly beautiful day for flying. After careful consideration though, I'm unsure what the most spectacular feature of the performance was. Was it the exquisite handling of the RC craft? The exquisite flying ability of the pilot; or the almost unnoticed and incredible skill of the videographer capturing each millisecond of action so flawlessly? I'd have to say that it was a miraculous combination of all three!!

Pretty much, yes, but not hover. This model has a far superior power-to-weight ratio compared to the original plane. The real Dr.1 had a rotary (not radial) engine and the rotating mass of the engine provided a very distinct, sharp torque effect which could be (and was) exploited by the pilot. It could outturn every other plane in the air, except the Sopwith Triplane, I surmise but it was slower. Three wings plus the short spar between the wheels (a 4th wing?) created a lot of drag.
