My goodness that was one of the best informed and presented reviews I have ever seen. Love the comparisons of similar vehicles in the segment. Very well done
Alex! What a fantastic review! Incredibly detailed, super thorough, and absolutely unbiased. The on screen numbers, and the comparisons with the competitors are very helpful! It definitely helped us with selecting our next vehicle. Subscribed!
It's so weird watching your videos man. I know every road you're on. In this video is was Summit road and then Highland Way through Corralitos - the narrow road that leads to Watsonville. In your other videos I've seen you on Skyline and HWY9. I was born in Santa Cruz and grew up in San Jose so I know that area really well. I drove these roads every weekend for ten years. A sunny day cruise through any of those roads with a decent handling car is one of my favorite things but even in a Suburban it's fun. I enjoy your videos. Keep it up.
Hey Alex. You're one of the most detailed, yet straightforward reviewers I've found on TH-cam. However, you don't seem to say much (or anything at all) about the vehicles' parking functions. Like when you're on the rood, it'd be good if you could add some video on parking the vehicle as well. That way, we can determine if the various functions available adhere to our needs. Truly appreciate your videos. I'm still determining which SUV/Crossover/Truck is for me. Peace!
Lucian seats are arguable but idk I find the Yukon to be more simplistic. I was going to buy the platinum Escalade bust customer service from the dealer in my city, Abu Dhabi, is just horrible.the 2 reasons I mentioned before also swayed me to buy the Yukon instead
15:20 Living room on wheels? LOL. I don't like SUV's. But Alex's reviews are so good that I watched the entire video. Thank you Alex :-) Oh, nice ending :-)
In the market for one of these esp after seeing the pathetic mpg of a toyota seqouia of 13/17, these i believe are 15/22 which is better than the previous gen that i currently have
Way to go Alex fair and balanced reporting. I personally would go for the Escalade but I work for Cadillac so... that being said I still think the Grand Jeep Cherokee, and Ram 1500 are excellent vehicle's so I'm not completely clouded in my judgment.
Thank you. As usual, your review is thorough and informative. I would only add/adjust two points; the ride gets a (C), and the third raw is really useful for not more than a 10 min ride, even for small people. Thanks again.
Good review as always but (there's always a but :) what has been missing from your past few videos is a DEFINITIVE recommendation. You lay down the pros/cons but its good to hear a recommendation based on your driving experience.
I think I would safely skip the Denali model if I were ever in the market for a GMC. Compared to the non-Denali models, it still doesn't impress me enough. Still a very nice vehicles you tested.
The rear passenger door can tell you much better than the window if you look near the wheel well and the door bends around it (like the thumbnail) it is the short one. But if the wheel well is separated by an inch or two(like this car) it shows if it is thr long or short version.
I got ride in a new Danali (the shorter wheelbase model) last weekend. The owner only had it for a month or so. Beautiful inside and as you pointed out, so quiet. The egg-crate grille is a little much but if I was running a car service, and I could match income to lease payments, I buy one tomorrow,
I really like your ending summary segment of your video. Very informative! However, I'd like to suggest that you change your black background to white. I think it would show better. I have seen other TH-camrs use the white background for their product reviews and it looks clean. Just a thought! Have you considered reporting on popular used cars? I am considering buying a used Audi A4 wagon, there's very limited content on TH-cam about certain older cars - including Audi A4 wagons. I think you'll do a great job providing a quick summary of the car dynamics, resell value, safety and reliability issues. Keep up the great work.
Amazing and extremely informative review. This may end up being my moms next vehicle. I've heard that the ride with the 22 inch wheels is harsh because they over inflate them from the factory.
Alex, Any plans for a higher trim (R/T or Citadel) 2016 Dodge Durango review? You always make such positive comparisons of the Durango with other comparable SUV's.
higher quality than the navigator better looking than the Tahoe and expedition and you get Magnetic ride + nappa leather and lots of brushed aluminum. but its by no means is it in the realm of the escalade not even close, the escalade has its own higher quality switch gear, more sound dampening, and far more premium materials not to mention a 100% unique interior architecture. much like the audi Q7 vs the VW Touareg they share platforms but not interiors or tuning :).
Hi Alex on Autos ! You forgot to mention about buffeting and vibration. GMC Yukon Denali buffeting and vibration big time. A man noticed a shaking that he said “feels like driving on cobblestones,” at around 70-80 mph. Google it, people are pretty mad about it.
Alex, you keep referring to this as the "long wheel base" but the Suburban and Tahoe have the same wheelbase, the difference in length is all in the body behind the rear wheel.
I was listening to this review while I was playing Angry Birds, and I thought I was just going to hear post review music and then I heard Pussycat Dolls. "Don't you wish your girlfriend was raw like me, don't you wish your girlfriend was fun like me."
Hey Alex have you reviewed the new Escalade yet? If not any plan on doing it? I'd really love to hear your opinion about it. Thx for the very informative and detailed review as always and keep it up :)
I spent several days driving a Durango last year. I found that visibility was just terrible. The a-pillars are very thick and combine with the mirrors to make it easy to miss a pedestrian. But the biggest problem I had was that the overhead console pushes the rear view mirror down so low that it was directly in my line of sight, creating a huge blind spot towards my right. I'm used to driving a large SUV (I drive a 200 Series Land Cruiser), but I have to say that the visibility on the Durango was such that I would not own one.
I'd like to hear about how the extended-length Expedition and Navigator compare to the extended GM SUVs for a real apples-to-apples comparison. When I watched the video it looked like you were only comparing the regular-length Expedition. Historically the Fords have been more spacious in the back due to the more compact independent rear suspension.
+John Shaheen those numbers are not correct, Volume is a tricky measurement but 200+ cubic feet is what you see in extended body cargo vans, the expedition according to Ford is 130 behind the front seats with the other rows folded
Those figures are per Edumonds: The space in the Ford's are significantly larger due to the IRS and the fact that the GM vehicles lost significant space behind 3rd row when they went to the fold flat 3rd row in current generation. www.edmunds.com/car-comparisons/?veh1=200734923|&veh2=200779876|suv&show=0&comparatorId=4540776
I don't doubt the source of the numbers but it highlights the trouble with that particular spec. Cargo volume behind the first row seats is in theory correct on that page: 130 vs 122, but it's simply not possible for the Expedition to haver 70 cubic feet of space *in front* of the front seats, nor is it possible that the front seat area in the Yukon/Suburban/Tahoe is just 7/10ths of a cubic foot.
@Parker Gray True, but you gotta admit that you need to choose parking spots, like ones that are a little bit farther away, and ones where the cars on each side aren't parked over the lines.
Sorry took out a Durango R/T for family didn't buy it was nice, then took out Yukon Denali much more usable room by far and its wider that makes big difference. I got the 10 speed thats the one you want.
Alex what about the long wheelbase Expedition EL in comparison to the XL versions of the GM trio? Also wheels aside is there is huge difference to you on the GM suvs with the Magnetic Ride Control (Tahoe/Suburban LTZ, Yukon/Yukon XL, and Escalade/Escalade ESV) to the normal set up or even the set up offer on the Tahoe Z71?
By the comparison between the Expedition and Tahoe/Suburban is the cargo space and the way space is used. I noticed that in the Expedition the short wheelbase has a little bit more room.
Alex, in the comparison you did not mention 2016 Cadillac Escalade ESV. Its price is not that far off from the Denali XL. How do they compare? What are the possible advantages of one over the other?
I have the 2001 yukon xl slt 4x4 with the 5.3 ltr in it. I gotta give gm credit , they def got it right. However i wld love to see a diesel model. Also i dnt think my model has the 4 cylinder at highway speed option so im burning the hell outta that fuel. And that 33.5 gal tank is a killer with marylands $3.55 per gal prices. But that 4x4 will go just about any where.
4:02 "Fuel economy is obviously not going to be as high as your average Camry or Accord" -- I hate to say this, but it is not that far off. My 4 cyl Camry gets about 26 mpg average, and I do a fair number of highway miles in addition to regular suburban Silicon Valley commute. The question really is, how true are those numbers, because Toyota's numbers on the sticker are pure fantasy. Do you really get 17/18 average mpg on the Yukon, and 16 mpg on the Yukon XL, or is it also just a fantasy?
The price vs the actual quality is really bothering me as I want to like it but I still can't justify paying 80 thousand dollars for one I'll much rather have a Mercedes or Q7.. splashes of wood and a stitched portion of the upper door handle isn't quite enough as there is still hard plastics in touch points
This guy might have the best review of this vehicle I haver ever seen. Props.
I like this guy. He's very thorough and articulate without seeming long winded. And no stupid music selection...minus the hokey ending. Edit!
My parents finally upgraded from a 2001 Tahoe lt to a 2016 suburban ltz and we love it. ❤️
My goodness that was one of the best informed and presented reviews I have ever seen. Love the comparisons of similar vehicles in the segment. Very well done
I own a 2017 GMC Denali XL. Best ride ever.🙌
Have u had any mechanical issues?
@ No.
Love the increasing refinement on these reviews!
Alex! What a fantastic review! Incredibly detailed, super thorough, and absolutely unbiased. The on screen numbers, and the comparisons with the competitors are very helpful! It definitely helped us with selecting our next vehicle. Subscribed!
One of the most comprehensive reviewers, keep it up!
It's so weird watching your videos man. I know every road you're on. In this video is was Summit road and then Highland Way through Corralitos - the narrow road that leads to Watsonville. Damn good review and breakdown of similar vehicles! Thank you, I went with the Denali (not the XL version), and am loving it very much!
Great video! I love the new green screen comparison segment. Keep up the great work!
Hey Alex. You're one of the most detailed, yet straightforward reviewers I've found on TH-cam. However, you don't seem to say much (or anything at all) about the vehicles' parking functions. like the new black screen when comparing its competition, it's a lot easier to follow; great review!
Great review as always. Thanks for doing what you do.
Fantastically detailed as always, but would love to see an updated 2018 review with the new 10-speed transmission seen in the new Expedition.
The GMC Yukon XL Denali is definitely the body on frame SUV I will pick over any other one.
Escalade is better, if you have the money.
Lucian nahhh it's seen as more luxurious but the Denali has a better exterior imo. It also doesn't have those stupid touch buttons for the dash
I'll agree with the exterior for rear only and touch buttons. I like the seats and front better in the Escalade.
Lucian seats are arguable but idk I find the Yukon to be more simplistic. I was going to buy the platinum Escalade bust customer service from the dealer in my city, Abu Dhabi, is just horrible.the 2 reasons I mentioned before also swayed me to buy the Yukon instead
AD M To me, the Yukon XL Denali is the best SUV. Period. No SUV will ever top it IMO.
15:20 Living room on wheels? LOL. I don't like SUV's. But Alex's reviews are so good that I watched the entire video. Thank you Alex :-)
Oh, nice ending :-)
Why are you here if you don't like suv's?
You are the best, Alex. Love your video reviews. Trusted.
Thanks Alex, love your thoroughness. Not always a given on North American tests.....
This guy is the best! These tanks need a diesel engine for better mpg.
In the market for one of these esp after seeing the pathetic mpg of a toyota seqouia of 13/17, these i believe are 15/22 which is better than the previous gen that i currently have
Brilliant stuff as always ! Top notch content and the format as well
Way to go Alex fair and balanced reporting. I personally would go for the Escalade but I work for Cadillac so... that being said I still think the Grand Jeep Cherokee, and Ram 1500 are excellent vehicle's so I'm not completely clouded in my judgment.

Liked the new comparison segment at the end!
I like the new comparison format.
An excellent review! I like the detailed compare at the end
Good review as always but (there's always a but :) what has been missing from your past few videos is a DEFINITIVE recommendation. You lay down the pros/cons but its good to hear a recommendation based on your driving experience.
Sometimes he says which vehicle he would purchase.
I think I would safely skip the Denali model if I were ever in the market for a GMC. Compared to the non-Denali models, it still doesn't impress me enough. Still a very nice vehicles you tested.

You Sir!! are a terrific reviewer!! like a one stop shop!! :) good job!
Love the new format tweaks. A on A shirt too! Tip: expressing fuel economy in city/highway actually tells me something, the combined really doesn't.
I got ride in a new Danali (the shorter wheelbase model) last weekend. The owner only had it for a month or so. Beautiful inside and as you pointed out, so quiet. The egg-crate grille is a little much but if I was running a car service, and I could match income to lease payments, I buy one tomorrow,
William Large YOU MEAN DENALI
16 overall MPG for this large, 4WD, V8 SUV is very good. I have a 2005 Toyota 4Runner 2WD V6, and the medium-size SUV only gets 17 overall MPG.
Great review Alex!
I thought this review was excellent, really appreciated the detail you went to
😊Im impressed. I currently drive a 2016 Rogue SL, I want my next SUV to be either this Yukon Denali OR an Infiniti QX80
Can't wait to see your review on the 2017 GMC Arcadia Denali.
I really like your ending summary segment of your video. Very informative! However, I'd like to suggest that you change your black background to white. I think it would show better. I have seen other TH-camrs use the white background for their product reviews and it looks clean. Just a thought!

very detailed reviews!!! excellent!!
alex...i think more comfort is the most reason to buy yourself a yukon xl/suburban/escalade esv😄😎
Owned one and it’s not bad at all. 😃😃😃
Amazing and extremely informative review. This may end up being my moms next vehicle. I've heard that the ride with the 22 inch wheels is harsh because they over inflate them from the factory.

can you review the jaguar f pace next? im really loving that cars looks and would love to see your review on it.
Looking forward to a review on the Jaguar F-Pace and the Buick Envision. Please!
I love my Ford (easier to drive at home) ...but rented the GMC Yukon XL in Bangor, ME. ...a great way to tour the G babes around Acadia Nat. Park!
Great videos, Alex. If you can, please do an Expedition EL EcoBoost. Thank you!
Damn that is quick for 6000 lbs and 8 seats. Those file folder rails though....
Please do 2018 Ford Expedition max vs 2018 GMC Yukon Denali XL! Please please please
Beautiful truck. Please be aware of the engine and transmission problems.
LOL Guys, STAY TILL THE VERY END. TRUST ME 😂😂😂
And as always great review Alex!
Thanks for traumatizing me.
earn that money! :P
That's why he often reminds me of Mr. Bean
No.Just no. I can't erase that now. Thanks.😨
Alex, you keep referring to this as the "long wheel base" but the Suburban and Tahoe have the same wheelbase, the difference in length is all in the body behind the rear wheel.
Not quite, the Suburban/Yukon XL has a 130 inch wheelbase and the booty stretch, the Yukon/Tahoe rides on a 116 inch wheelbase
haha! watched it to the very end!
I was listening to this review while I was playing Angry Birds, and I thought I was just going to hear post review music and then I heard Pussycat Dolls. "Don't you wish your girlfriend was raw like me, don't you wish your girlfriend was fun like me."

EPA interior volume is no comparison
Expedition EL/Navigator L: 210.9 cu.ft.
Yukon XL/'Suburban/Escalade ESV: 122.4 cu.ft.

Has anyone else noticed the LED tail light issues?
...just adding to the cons: "Expensive-Expensive-Expensive!" LOL
How's the leg and head room on the normal Wheelbase version for this?
It has a filing cabinet in it because it is so expensive that you will have to live in it.
did gm decide to ditch the 4 cyd duramax that they said would get 24mpg ?
Ive read they still have the oil consumption issue . AFM :(
Can you do review on Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum trim level?
-Thanks
Beautiful truck
what's an spacious handsome looking car.the potential car in full size suv segment
there is no banner for the infotainment system
Be nice if all the You Tube car testers were as good as Alex.
Impressive car but finding a parking for this huge thing is a chore.
@Parker Gray True, but you gotta admit that you need to choose parking spots, like ones that are a little bit farther away, and ones where the cars on each side aren't parked over the lines.
Park far away and leave the close parking for the women
@@tonymontana6734well said! Lol
I keep walking shoes to park away from everyone
Good review

Hey Alex! Please also review the Land Cruiser
How does the Expedition's 3rd row legroom/comfort compare with the Yukon? The numbers seem to favor the Expedition but real world?
I have a 2017 SLT version as a rental rental. Just wanna make sure what type of gas i use??
Thanks
Do a review of the Expedition platinum 4wd it's a very nice and impressively powerful suv for a 6 cylinder and I would like to hear your opinions
What banner I am trying to find the video of the infotainment center
Alex, in the comparison you did not mention 2016 Cadillac Escalade ESV. Its price is not that far off from the Denali XL. How do they compare? What are the possible advantages of one over the other?
Starting price yes, but the ESV gets fantastically expensive ...
I guess I did not look at the options and assumed that for that price it comes well equipped.
+Alex on Autos love to see you review a Porsche.
esv escalade is right at 6 figures now
I have the 2001 yukon xl slt 4x4 with the 5.3 ltr in it. I gotta give gm credit , they def got it right. However i wld love to see a diesel model. Can you look into doing a Cadillac xt5 platinum trim
Alex, do you think the Cadillac Escalade EXT is coming back after a few years of absence?
Nope lol
How easy is it to get to the spare tire?
23:53 CONS: -Expensive -Expensive -Expensive, LOL
Alex. Did I see you on motorweek?
Can they make digital.tail.light.
Like where light go up..
Like Knight Rider ??
What exactly was the point of sitting in the cargo area ?
What about the Lincoln Navigator? Same engine as Expedition , but uprated
Where is the review of the GS 350 F sport??
Pretty awesome!
can you review a Uhaul truck next?

SONGWEI YU yukon denali for sure
SONGWEI YU me too🤔🤔
8 Bags with 6 Seats? Is this right?
Annnnnnd, why did you not feature Suburban and Tahoe in the ending segment? PROS CONS..ect..
Also if you like the Tahoe styling, you would like the Suburban, because they are the same?
I’d listen to Alex review a corkscrew
Saving my money for a new navigator
The price vs the actual quality is really bothering me as I want to like it but I still can't justify paying 80 thousand dollars for one I'll much rather have a Mercedes or Q7.. splashes of wood and a stitched portion of the upper door handle isn't quite enough as there is still hard plastics in touch points
This or a base Range Rover. Or a decently optioned RR Sport
Why does it have a low chin in the bumper ? It makes it hard to off road
aqeel3344 It's for better MPG but it would be amazing if they could find a way to retract it for off-road
Yes, its ground clearance is terrible and could be an issue for driveways with an incline or off-roading.
