Just something that I never noticed before is synergy abilities doesn't need a full bar (5 bar), most usually cost 3 bars. After I learned this, I did more synergy abilities.
Yeah it costs 3 at first but i believe if you want to use the same synergy a second time in the same battle it will cost 4 and three+ times probably cost 5
@@dinopower901 huh, didn't know that thanks. Oh another thing that I found is playing on normal is better for me. I thought dynamic would scale enemies upwards to you, but it also scales down. Dynamic difficulty made most battle over pretty quickly, that includes boss battles and challenge battles. I never get to use my synergy abilities because of that. So yeah, normal is the optimal difficulty for me. Kinda wish they would include hard mode but you can use items too from the get go.
@@dantederi5062 hard made is NG* but square called it hard mode.
Dynamic difficulty is what you want. Its scales to how well you play the game not your level
@@cured_bacon647 what do you mean scales with how well I played? I thought it scales their level to mine upwards and downwards. I tried dynamic mode in chapter 1, but I felt like it made the enemies too quick to die.
@@dantederi5062it lowers difficulty if it senses you aren’t good at combat and raises difficulty once you start blowing through the enemies
I remember years ago, watching your video on Tifa.. it blew me away and changed how I looked at the game and played it entirely. Now that I'm rusty again, glad to see you back on the grind. Thanks for the videos as always
@@jaybayblay same dude. I had no idea you could play remake with that much of a focus on action. I never did it because my fingers don’t work that way but I think that shows just how amazing of a combat system this team put together. It’s seriously the best of all worlds. Good job FF13 team.
Very informative! Thank you! Great video
I play on Classic mode dynamic difficulty and take advantage of the purple auto attack materia. Auto Unique, Auto Weapon Ability (AWA). Auto heal on Aerith. Cloud is my main when you put Auto Unique & steadfast block orbs on Cloud he'll do perfect parrys if you hand off control to the AI. You can only equip two characters with Auto Unique but you can equip everyone with AWA orbs. When you unlock the synergy materia place this on a non main team mate. Link it to either Petrify or Comet orbs. Whenever Cloud uses a L1 shortcut ability the synergy attack triggers without requiring ATB or use any MP. These attacks can be triggered often in a fight especially if Cloud rapidly generates ATB charges and it can be OP on mobs.
Watching the Titan fight. I'm starting to get why he's so attack barrage focused. He's practice for parrying. That was kind of the devs.
honestly a big game changer for me is just setting other party members besides cloud as the leader. it’s tempting to always play him and get comfy with his moveset since he’s almost always locked to the party but it can be seriously nuts playing Aerith full-time and just issuing commands to the other characters
This is very helpful, thank you bro. As somebody who’s favorite game has always been the OG FF7 it was a learning curve for me playing Remake and now i feel even more lost in ReBirth. The synergy abilities and inability to actually upgrade weapons to increase materia slots/damage in this game really confused me but im getting the hang of it. So far the game is absolutely beautiful and im really enjoying it, i just need to get better and learn the mechanics a little more.
I’m with you….I’m a turn based guy and this game is a huge learning curve for me. I don’t remember having this much issue with remake, but maybe I’m just getting old. 😂
As a button masher that is just getting into these style of games this is helpful for my lizard brain.
Respect to the OGs who did the legit turn based. The action turn based is so non-intuitive for me but very satisfying when successful!
I see this combat development like kingdom hearts. More and more crazy each game with such elaborate airborne fights.
Im new to the FF7 mechanics and RPG in general there is so much to digest, I've seen all of the game play and played some of the previous versions but man Im getting my butt handed to me on anything of a challenge even after tutorials
can you still dodge over charging enemies?
The combat system feels like an adhd mess at the moment, maybe it’ll click soon but jesus christ.
Lmaoo it does but I kinda got the feel of the momentum in battle. I just need a time my parries
I thought it was just me. Glad I'm not alone
That's because you're literally learning the amount of mechanics and different styles of play and different characters enough to literally span several games not just one game. So yeah I'm just as frustrated right now and I am so happy about it!
I feel the exact same way. I never felt like I fully clicked with the combat of Remake so here's to hoping I have a better time here.
Im still in the phase of info overload in a HUGE way!!
I really do hope it clicks because if not, it all looks nothing less than a hot mess right now, never had this issue with any of the systems in remake, this just feels like i dropped my plate of peas all over the floor, what a mess, is how i feel so like i said i genuinely hope it clicks but right now i aint feeling it!!
I’m early in game and I was fighting the snake swamps
Pretty much was dying all the time but yeah I noticed party members do nothing on their own 😅
I’m having a hard time countering in this game the enemies generally don’t have any tells when they attack unlike 16
Precision block materia made parry really forgiving. Use locked on with auto camera settings will helps a lot.
It's an after though, things are happening at 100mph with enemies and teammates jumping everywhere, trying to perform a prefect block is just God damn luck based. In a game like Elden Ring where enemies telegraphed their attacks and you're fighting something one on one, that makes sense.
@@WizzyTheDizzy Having to depend on using an item is a noob move. You will never get better
@@KainsAddiction sure you are the most talented player ever haha - blocked and reported sike.
Yeah, wish they were easier to spot. Feels like they just randomly attack out of nowhere from their base pose 😭 especially smaller enemies.
Thanks for the video but I think you confused me even more lol 😅🤯
That’s for the video! How are you doing that yellow electric pulse?
Think it has something to do with a material you get from a simulation reward....he has a video about it most likely
"enemy skill" materia
Enemy skill plasma discharge. Every time you generate atb bar it pulses. Link with hp absorb and even darkside for more power
How do you get your team to actually do stuff. I only get atb when Im using them making them useless when im not.
the main element of combat is constantly changing between characters, building their ATB and using their abilities. also you can use synergy attacks with R1 and corresponding face button that will build stagger and ATB for whichever character you synergize with for those commands
How i mkae aarea Damage with spells.
i just got to costa del sol ^_____^
I'm so bad at blocking and countering, i just dodge
party members don’t seem to generate atb when you don’t control them?
Toss on atb assist
Auto cast aero with red and forget about making him an aerial attacker
For perfect guarding, (You must learn it for the later content) wait for the attack to swing or when the fast projectile is launched.
precision defense is more of a skill bandaid than a materia thats actually useful.
Do you play in normal or classic ?
Normal
6:50 howd you dodge the bird like that
For real. Every unblockable red attack for me I dodge to the side and literally everything just auto tracks me and moves toward me. The tracking in the game is retarded. The hitboxes are insane. I can be way far away from like a grab and still get hit
What is that lightning splash cloud keeps doing in this video?
It's an skill from "enemy skill" materia. You can only use it (and other unique skills) with that equipped
It's a skill from "enemy skill" materia. You can only use it (and other unique skills) with that equipped
can cloud make multiple counters in a row ?
How awesome would that be if each character has a different animation for perfect blocking different attacks.
The game will be so awsome than what it is
ok so where do we get the materia u talk about? Telling us about it doesnt help if we dont even know where to get it..
Are you saying that if you hit triangle (punisher mode) at the instant you get hit it automatically blocks it? Same with Red?
This is where I left the video. I have no clue what this person is talking about
Punisher Mode has an auto counter built into the beginning of the transition, yes.
@@jmOb00no this is correct! and was present in Remake as well. if you time pressing triangle as you get hit when switching from Operator to Punisher mode it will parry and counterattack. should be noted though it does NOT work switching from Punisher to Operator.
I'm just confused with the skill materia and trying to figure out combat settings with the shortcuts I have no clue what most of it does. This is my first time playing this kind of game and really playing it. I'm sure I will eventually understand everything but there's alot to figure out especially for a newb like myself with this game.
You unlock New abilitys later ín the combat simulator, like this electrik move ín the videó ✌️
Don’t overthink it. The materials you equip give you that ability and if it’s linked it’ll work together. Combat shortcuts what you use often. You’ll constantly change materia base of the enemy and your party to the weakness
@binhlam07 thank that makes more sense now.
The best and fun part of this game is experimenting on your own. Trying out different party comps and synergies. So best tip is really to just go play lol
Very informative...
Res needs some other kind of block animation. Hes tail just burns brighter.
Good call. I spent like an hour plus early on in the Grasslands trying to familiarize myself wjth his battle mechanics, and most of that time was not understanding why he did nothing at all when I blocked with him.
Being as blocking/guarding is the key to unlocking his true potential, I believe they should have actually given him some sort of visual cue when blocking/guarding.
@@GeoJetsonagreed. the only way i was able to visually tell he’s guarding is by having him walk at same time, since he walks slowly as opposed to full-on running
Im just still confused on how to flow the combat seamlessly without always waiting to to command spells and what not, like the way i see you going off in this whole entire vid im waiting to get the hang of it to that extent, any tips you guys have feel free to comment i appreciate it in advance!
How to make enemys burn or frozen ?
how are dnd mindflayers in this
Would watch it if it wasn’t riddles with spoilers of areas and fights.
You couldn’t have just shown the combat simulator?
I feel like im always in the menus. Everything levels up.
The enemies are fine, but the bosses? The combats awful. The bosses don't feel like start of the games bosses, most people haven't played the original since release. Feels like I'm playing an mmorpg where I need a dedicated tank and healer lol
Barret is actually your best bet as a healer because he gets his ATB up fast so you can start using potions and cure. And when you have lifesaver skill you just absorb damage others take so just have regeneration cast on him. I don’t use aerith for healing because she can do so much better using her ATB on magic against the enemy.
@@Usernamehear Hmm interesting. I'll give that a shot once I pick it up again. Just got frustraited with bosses, felt like I was brute forcing my way through them without any skill or tactics lol
@@traviscue2099 during the first game I fumbled my way by till I got to the hell house then I realized I had to kinda figure out how to pay attention and learn the game but after that I started loving it. Rebirth is just even harder because now more characters and the synergy stuff to learn it’s back to the grind to I find the flow again.
@@Usernamehear I found the same in the first game actually. I think the issue is, is that Rebirth feels like its a continuation rather than "starting a fresh game".. And having a few years break then getting back into it.. It's a steep learning curve.. I just find that when I beat the bosses I didn't learn anything.. But yeah I'll get back into it at some stage for sure.
Some of these challenges are absolute bullshit. The one with all the tonberrys? Absolutely effing not. I bested most of them, but its more luck than anything and I'm GOOD at this game. Beat main on dynamic, its just cruel and unusual.
it's just FF. have you ever played ff?
those games always has some close to impossible enemy's.
Playing this with M+KB is a pain in the ass
Then don't
Thanks for that ingenious advice. Buy me a new Dual Sense controller @@kieragard
Why would you 💀
I hate it's battle system. It's action but with big ATB - STOP sign...
You can use the quick menus så it never has to stop😊
It’s the same as OG was with atb lol. The combat in this game is stellar
I'm also not sure why they split up the weapon skills from Remake in to the Folios. So now you have two places to get 200+HP and 5% something something. God damn stupid and unnecessary.
@@zZiL341yRj736 it’s much better this way imo. Now instead of just stats we get synergy and other abilities. The whole of the combat system is much better than it was in remake.
Sorry I didn't buy this to do another souls like fucking game where they want to try and force you to just block and counter in order to get to good stuff. It's a piece of shit
So you just want to swing your sword like a crackhead and never get hit?
@@xarachne8473 no. Try to keep up
I'm 100 hours in and nearing the end but I rarely block or parry. There are a 100 other ways to play this game.
You’re just terrible at the game and hate that you can’t do it, the game is great, best combat system ever, it’s so smooth and there’s so many ways to play, it’s the best final fantasy yet
This games combat is garbage. Hard mode is all about getting lucky. Nothing about skill
Skill issue
@@aidankhaos7687 you're clearly not smart enough to understand the difference between luck and skill.
If this was about skill then you can beat the hardest trials 5 times in a row without losing. Without cheesing LBs.
But you never will because this game is all about luck.
Not true at all once you learn the timing the combat becomes amazing
@@SuperZombiepimp prove it. Beat the hardest bosses 10x in a row (without cheeseing) without failing once. That would be skill.
I won't hold my breath because you'll never do it because this game is all about luck. It's why people had to cheese the hardest bosses.
It's amazing how clueless people are about the difference between luck and skill.
Skill issue
This is the worst game ever made. If you haven't beat it, just wait. Get ready for the most bullshit packed into a AAA in history. And if you play on easy, don't respond.
