About Ryan Alcorn, Founder and CEO
Ryan Alcorn founded GrantExec in the fall of 2021 while pursuing his Master of Public Policy at the University of Virginia. In each of his experiences working at a nonprofit, woman-owned small business, and a policy group, he found that grant prospecting was painfully tedious and ineffective. He relied on an Excel sheet to manually trawl through grant-funding websites daily. Thus, Ryan developed a basic web-parsing system to streamline the process of tracking publicly available grant postings. This innovation birthed a dynamic database comprising over 7,000 grant opportunities sourced from more than 3,500 distinct entities, including federal, state, and private funders. Alongside his team, Ryan further enhanced the system by introducing a matching algorithm, integrating the rich dataset with an advanced language model. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys learning about and exploring new applications of artificial intelligence, spending time outside with friends and family, rooting for the Washington Nationals, and watching Star Trek.
