Colour codes wrong 🤦♂️ the correct ones are the following: 1c171e 262329 3c5a40 547138 c6ed3b 9fd562 bbe096 ebffc4 fbf0f5, then 19211c 1b3110 304830 4d6d3e 557f3c 020800
OH no..........I didn't see this and almost finish, I thought it is screen reflection which distort colors.
Actually, I counld not see much difference...LOL. Still beautiful! I really like your painting.
I was wondering why the colors weren't more emerald colored!! I just thought the either colors on my TV (which I was watching it on) or my iPad (which I was drawing it on)were off!
F after I finished I was like why does it look goofy XD. I went into main color settings and messed with it to make it okayish
It is really impressive how you can do these paintings with nearly zero erasing and without rotating the canvas to get better angles. very talented.
Thanks Daniel 😊
It’s not talent. It’s skill. He’s put in years of consistent hard work. To me that’s a 100 times more impressive.
@@kyoukan91 While you are correct but I think it is both. Talent is innate, it is withinn you and skill as you said is acquired by years of grinding.
I think he got a blend of both.
How is that you don’t have millions and millions of views??????? YOUR TUTORIALS ARE AMAZING
Lol ah thank you 🙏
Probably there are many people like me - discovered painting/drawing on iPad 2 days ago :D I have never ever heard about it. Found it by accident.
New subscriber and Patron.
I was recommended your channel yesterday and spent 2 hours drawing your mountainscape with fir trees and lake reflection. I’ve owned every iPad Pro, prefer them for business and personal use to the MacBook, but I’ve never used Procreate to free draw anything. I enjoyed drawing yesterday immensely and have decided to draw every few days for the first time since high school. Thank you for bringing drawing back into my life, a welcome respite in these trying times
Ah I’m so glad if my tutorials have got you into more art, thank you so much for the support 🙏
Wow, I don’t even have an iPad Pro yet and I have gotten a lot outta this. Thanks for your time.
Nice coverage of what need to be done
your drawing really cool for me!!
Again, a masterpiece!! This was was, in my opinion, very relaxing and soothing. While I am not an artist but I understand how hard it can be to produce an aura, an ambience in a painting which makes the spectator to feel as if he was within the scene...
I felt the same, it was almost like I was in there... Spectating all those majestic aurora. So glad that I found you channel today.
Your art is so phenomenal.
Thank you
You’re really good at explaining what you’re doing, it feels much for fluent and simple than other tutorials I use. This looks gorgeous! Even if I’m not drawing digitally often these are nice to listen to in the background when I’m studying or something, I don’t know why haha
First time seeing you doing a tutorial with polar lights in it! Amazing
Thank you 😊
I just stumbled across your channel and oh my! Your really good at explaining, I like and subbed!
Thank you very much 😊
Really like the way you explain things

Can't wait to draw it. I will tag you soon... Thanks for making such tutorials like this.
Looking forward to seeing
Thank you, James.
My pleasure 😊
Love all of your work. If possible, can you make a tutorial of long exposure beach painting?
Thank you I’ll research it!
you got a flair
Por favor, español para aprender.
Gracias y es muy hermoso!!
Your work is amazing, those tutorials help so much with learning.
Will you do in the future one for desert or seascape?
I’m sure I will! Thank you 😊
Subscribed! 👏❣
Thank you
Damn that looks awesome. I could watch these videos forever. Move over Bob Ross. 😂
Haha thank you
I've noticed that when I follow your guidelines for how big the brush should be, mine often looks nothing like yours. Are there different settings that have made 6% mean something different? When mine is at 6%, it looks very small, but when yours is at 6%, it looks very large - almost as if it was 6% smaller (meaning 94%) instead.
Are you using an a4 canvas?
@@JamesJulier-Artist There is no setting for a horizontal A4 canvas, just a vertical one, so I took the measurements for that and reversed them and created a custom canvas (297x210mm), so it should be the same as your A4. The first time I tried to use A4, the orientation of the canvas didn't change when I turned my iPad, but I just tried it again and it did, so I'll try the built in A4 next time and see if it fixes the problem.
Coool
Just curious, do you have any suggestions for avoiding the color “banding” that can happen when using the airbrush to blend dark and light colors? I love your tutorials, So thankful to have stumbled upon these ☺️
Well, because of your videos i have to buy iPad and pencil haha :D
Lol sorry
Super
Thank you
Fantastic work as always. Think we’ll see you try your hand at a beach picture at some point? Something kinda Southern California like?
You’ll have to send me a pic!
LOVE your work!
Do you still use the Paperlike screen protector? Looks like you have no screen protector in this video.
Another great tutorial!! Is there a way to post and "share" your palette or some hack to copy/paste the codes into Procreate? Entering 15 hex codes by hand is very tedious and time consuming! Thanks!!
I had to type them manually into the description!
I love it....but i got REALLY confused with the size you brushes appeared compared to mine. Yours seemed so much smaller using the air brush but mine where all thick and gross 😭😭. It was hard to make the leaves for me
Love your tutorials! Just curious - Do you use a screen protector for the iPad?
Not at the moment no
Have you tried Infinite painter? I would love to see a comparison video with procreate from a good artist, for some reason nobody is reviewing that app, even though it seems to be a good option now.
I’ve tried it a while ago, but it felt too busy as an interface. Procreate got there first and has a really streamlined app.
@@JamesJulier-Artist Are you sure? Their interface looks more simplistic than procreate and is fully customizable
How do you make a palette using color codes?
Hi!
Thanks for this tutorial - its very helpful for someone starting out..
But after beating my head over it.. I think you've increased/adjusted the overall contrast/saturation of this video while editting which has resulted in your colors looking very vibrant compared to the color codes youve provided - both old and new. I think it's good if you give a warning like that in the beginning or when editting.. not edit the artwork portion.. or you'll have people like me googling for an hour trying to figure out what's wrong with the colors and screen of my ipad that your colors look different :P
I don’t know this for sure, but it could be because he’s filming the screen, not using display capture. So the camera is probably doing its own colour-balancing depending on room brightness etc, which means that the colours end up looking different.
Hi James
The first colour you pick was #1c171e but in the description you put the colour #1b171d
In your opinion which one I choose?
Thank you for your hard work
All the colours seem to be off for some reason 😕
I’m going to add the correct colours to the comments section pinned to the top!
Ok I’ve now pinned the correct codes to the top of the comments! Thanks for letting me know 😅
No thank you you’re the master
I have big respect for you and your work
Where can we share our takes on the paintings? I love them
On Instagram or in my Facebook group would be ideal, both linked in the description
When I create my canvas what color profile do I use? I will use this painting to post on facebook.
What size is your canvas please?
What is the code of the bottom left part color?
Lmfao I did the northern lights a couple of days ago.must be on the same wave length. Love how you do your trees! 😄
Haha that’s cool thanks
Sir please post blending techanic
It's kind impossible to have the same result when I don't use the apple pencil 😁😁😁 because of the pressure features beside that it looks cool
Thank you. Yeah the Apple Pencil is pretty much required to follow along precisely
200k incoming
I’d like to think it’s possible to reach a million before I become a pensioner!
Which screen protector do you have?
None at the moment
Im from Saudi Arabia all we have is deserts and this painting all they have is snow 😅😂
Haha well you get to imagine the opposite here 😆
James Julier Art Tutorials hahahahha that is true. Again thank you so much you helped me a lot improving my art. I used one of them in my webcomic even if it was not nearly as good as yours :D
What size canvas do you use? If this is answered elsewhere, please point me in the right direction. Thank you.
Yeah it’s an a4 canvas
👌
😊
This does not have a color pallet Link☹️
That’s right, back at that point I was only providing the codes free and the download file for patrons at Patreon
on my computer screen the colors are alot more blue :O
It’s mainly my camera that is the problem
Please post painting human skin tutorial
guys can i try this on PC in SAI with tablet ? :V
Go for it
AMAZIIIING...
😂 that made me laugh
Already on it LOL
Excellent
Sixth
Ha
Hey man, I am following everything you are doing. And not reaching the "Random Look" you are achieving. My drawings are looking fake, pushed.
Especially I love to follow your mountain drawings. never got to a point and thought "man this is some good/natural looking mountain"
It takes practice keep at it
You have get good at observational drawing. You can actually get good at that very quickly, because nature does not require precise proportions. Have a look at "drawing on the right side of your brain" by Betty Edwards, that should get you good at it fast
North America northern lights has a rainbow color effect this painting does not represent North America
