I was lucky enough to attend both Greek theatre shows. Drove up from San diego. got lucky and found Jimmy page at hotel the afternoon before second show. He was kind enough to take a pic with me.

Agree. I never cared for the Black Crowes because they are too affected, but musically they do have a certain rawness that Page seems to seek out. I'm blown away by their arrogance though. They literally insulted Page a few days into the tour, which is why it was cancelled. "Hurt back". That was Jimmy gracefully exiting an ungrateful band that will never come close to ever working with such a genius again.

Some of the most creative moments in a famous musician’s life are at the pre-show soundchecks during a big tour! Some of the
best music ever gets played! And these people are doing it for the money but they also love the opportunity to jam their heart’s desires! We should feel honored to have these recordings!

Try being a stage hand and having to unload trucks, arrange the road cases, un pack them, put the truss in place, bolting all together, mounting the chains and motors, connecting all the lights, building the video screens, building the stage and risers, running all the cables to the foh setting up the speakers and the pa, putting all the curtains and rods in place, then after the big stars play and have fun for a couple of hours, putting all that stuff back into the cases and loading it all back on to the trucks. I also am an artist and I know what it takes to play a show as a performer. The crew are the hardest working people in show biz.

I remember when Danelectro made a comeback in the late 90's with their plywood guitars. I wanted one so bad but i was a poor teenager and thought that blowing money on a pos guitar would be too frivolous when i already had a great Epiphone Les Paul standard and a tricked out Mexican Stratocaster. I did however spring for the Danelectro Daddy'o Overdrive pedal and a small portable amp called Honey Tone from them as well.

    • @DDEENY

I'm a big Page fan and admit that his playing is typically sloppy, especially onstage, but that's part of his style - with emphasis on emotion instead of technical virtuosity. He's a pioneering rock guitarist, not a jazz guitarist. Having said that, as a studio musician in his early days, he was trained in the ways of discipline in the studio when accuracy truly counted.

That's why he was ranked best session guitarist available in London throughout the sixties before he joined the Yardbirds, and bands would be put on hold for weeks so that he could be recorded on their albums? Yeah, he's not that impressive at all.
