    The space between the touchbar and screen on the 15" isn't quite wasted, since that's where the heatpipes go under, so that area adds some thermal dissipation as well as separates the hottest part from your fingers.

    • @Scuderia-se6if
      @Scuderia-se6if 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Its pretty clear that the 13 inch MacBook design was what apple prioritised.

    • @tipoomaster
      @tipoomaster 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do wonder how many 15"s sell in comparison, the 13" beating it by many times over would not be surprising. Hopefully they don't cull the 15, as they're prone to honing in products like that i.e eliminating the 17.

    • @asans9849
      @asans9849 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tipoomaster the 15 inch obviously sells a lot less (unfortunately), because a lot of people don't want to spend that much, and most students them go for the 13 inch for the portability too. I think mainly enthusiasts and people that *really* need the horsepower buy the 15 inch.

    • @rodolfotsang4327

      What is touchbar

  • @tipoomaster
    @tipoomaster 6 ปีที่แล้ว +37

    The 15" only weighs as much as the pre-retina 13"s which is a bit crazy (and why I laugh when people say the 15" is too heavy to carry around, it wasn't that long ago 5-7 pound laptops were the norm in the C2D days), but I'm not sure about saying it's the most portable 15" on the market. What about the 15" Gram?

    • @Alecexo

      tipoomaster exactly! I want it for college and people are saying get the 13 inch. Never! I can’t with a small screen.

    I bought the 15 inch and I mainly use it as a desktop replacement, that's slightly portable. I like how I'm able to move my laptop around the house. However I don't bring it to school though because it's a bit too big. I would go with the MacBook Air for school and the 15 inch as a slightly portable desktop replacement.

    I did buy a MacBook Air 13” 256GB last spring....and I‘m quite happy with my choice. 🙂
    I use my MacBook Air for simple graphic and web design with Photoshop and Coda 2 and other pretty basic stuff - like Netflix, email, internet browsing, working on documents, etc. - so I don’t need a super-powerful machine, nor do I care how bright and colorful my screen is; I also don’t have 2-3k (plus other $100-150 bucks for the dongles) to splurge on a laptop....and I wanted the ports.
    In short I’m fairly an average user....and for all people like me who want a Mac - which is the majority - the MacBook Air will be more than enough to satisfy their needs.

      I've tested both of the computers and it depends if you're getting the i9 or i7 for the 15 inch. Otherwise I didn't notice any difference, except that the 15 inch is a lot faster when it comes to heavier usage.

      @@vtphan2012 The i9 becomes hotter than the i7. Mostly because it's a lot more powerful. IMO it's kind of a waste getting the i9 in a laptop because it will throttle, even after the update. Any laptop as thin as this fit with an i9 will throttle and get hot.

      denniszenanywhere ah thank you someone who says the 15 inch is good for carrying. I was scared since my bag right now during high school is messing up my posture because of the heaviness of my books. College shouldn’t be a problem because I’ll only be carrying one book + my MacBook for each class.

    Awesome video, Daniel, thank you! Could you maybe do a comparison between the i7 and i9 next? But like both with 32 GB memory and same gpu would be great, if possible. I’ve been looking for such a comparison but wasn’t able to find one so far. Cheers! :)

    I used to own a 2015 iMac. Being a middle school teacher, I enjoyed the large screen for having multiple apps open for planning, research, emails, etc. Would you recommend the 13 or 15 inch, or should I wait for the new iMac, hopefully in September?

    No mention of the speakers crackling? Is the keyboard issue fixed? These things are holding me back from purchasing one. 🤔

    All depends on how your using it. the 13" Macbook Air is perfect for my needs for basic programming, and working with data. I love having a magnetic power adapter, and actual USB ports. Also, I run Windows on it. ;)

    Definitely 13 inch with Touch Bar for high school takes up less of space on the table especially if you sit next to multiple people in one table.

    The 15 have a better design. the 13 with the Touch Bar in real life is not that great design wise. It's not a wast of space, the design breath more on the 15.
