I have a bad feeling about this. Jarand is so frail and instead grapping firmly his mum's fur with all fours, he is grabbing straws from the ground. Jingga has a grip on his foot and carries him around like a ragdoll - what he pretty much is due to weakness.

I don’t think he will make it, unless someone takes him out of there and assesses him, feeds him…he’s suffering and curled tight…sanctuary rescues can be like that

He was premature. I saw him at the zoo yesterday. He is sitting up and trying to crawl. Like many premature babies, he is behind.

She holds him with her foot. There is some unknown but crucial reason for this anomaly. I thought, at one point, that perhaps she feels she needs both arms/hands for climbing. But I don’t think that’s it. She doesn’t want him to feed whenever he wants to. He would be able to do that if he were at first held by her arm and then by his own grip as he gets stronger, but she CLEARLY doesn’t like feeding him. And that’s ok as long as they intervene. She clearly loves him in her own very young and immature orangutan way, but maybe feeding is just something she can barely tolerate, and she also doesn’t realize that the baby will stop feeding when he’s full and it’s not her who is supposed to decide when he’s full. Bottles are a magnificent invention. They know how to get the babies to bottle feed through the fence when they’ve been taken on by a non-lactating surrogate mother. This cruelly seems to just be lazy inaction on the part of this zoo. I’ve been to England a few times, but never Blackpool. Isn’t it sort of like an even cheesier Atlantic City? The animals at the real life “We Bought a Zoo”-movie zoo, are so well taken care of. If they don’t want to do their jobs at Blackpool, send the pair to Dartmoor.

Blackpool Zoo is not going to respond to you. Blackpool Zoo has a Facebook page and a TH-cam channel. They never respond to any comments on either. They rarely share content with Jingga/Jarang since Jarang has been born. But, people in the comments on their Facebook Page have posted pictures and when people have questioned Jingga's parenting, viewers who have been to the zoo have stated that Jingga does care for Jarang. Remember, these are very short clips that we see on TH-cam and we are only shown what the TH-cam content creator wants to show us.
I cannot believe that people are always assuming that Jingga is the issue. Jarang has never clung to Jingga. His little hands are usually always clenched and he doesn't seem to have control of them. The issue could be that there is a defect with Jarang and Jingga is doing the best she can under the circumstances. Primates get the same illnesses and defects as humans do. Unlike us humans, they do not have parenting books to read, videos to watch, etc. on how to raise their children. They learn by watching other females in their groups. But Jarang is the first baby orangutan born at this zoo so Jingga has no one in her group to imitate. People really need to cut her some slack since all of us are just speculating on a TH-cam channel. All of us see well less than a 24 hour period of Jingga and Jarang.
Jingga is breastfeeding Jarang. He would not have survived this long if she was not feeding him. And this TH-cam channel has posted videos of her feeding him. However, Jarang is never clutching onto Jingga as infant primates do when he's feeding. Jingga has had to hold him up each time. So none of us knows for sure if the issue is inexperienced parenting skills or something wrong with Jarang.

This is either complete neglect by the zoo, or they know Jarang has something wrong with him medically that can not be treated and they're just waiting for him to pass. I agree which was why inwas asking. He looks like the videos they did in October. I still feel uneasy but there is no way the zoo are not monitoring continuously and using behavioural experts. So for some reason they believe he is still better off with her. I just want them to release updates, why they are making these decisions and what progress has been made. I've emailed them and got the same answer. I emailed again asking for updates on their channel but I didn't hear back. Then o emailed the Daily Mail asking them. To get a statement but they havnt answered. Last night I emailed a local newspaper to ask them to ask the zoo what is happening. We see two minute videos so have no idea what it's really like, but I have searched everywhere for footage, people uploading photos etc and I think there are around five where he is being held closely or he is feeding. The rest he is on his own. I don't know how he can start sitting up and strengthening his little legs unless he can lean on her. It might be happening when no one is around. They might be training her etc like the footage released from other zoos, we don't know. That's the irritating bit. They are not telling the people who are interested and asking, and apart from looking after endangered animals and breeding programs, isn't the viewing public what the zoos all about? I mean that's where they get their money. It's frustrating, especially if you can't go and see for yourself. I'm hoping to go in the next month when I can afford it.

Jarang barely moves and cannot climb up his mother’s fur. I’m concerned that he is cold: hanging at the end of a foot is not a warm place to be. He needs his mother's warm belly. I think there is something developmentally wrong with him. Perhaps he can’t be saved and the zoo is just leaving Jingga to care for him as best as she can.

Ape Tracker recently paid another visit to Blackpool Zoo.
While they didn't exactly elaborate specific details, they did indicate they would no longer be sharing videos of Jinnga & Baby Jarang.
I think it's safe to assume in this case, that actions speak louder than words.
While I stressed the importance of bringing attention to helping/saving Baby Jarang from this terrible demise, I was trolled by jerks that obviously don't care about the well being of this incredibly RARE, ENDANGERED SPECIES that we humans share 97% of our DNA with.
Despite the awful responses I've received from my concerned comments, I'm not the bad guy here.
I want nothing more than to see Baby Jarang THRIVE.
I have yet to see any videos or pictures showing this baby healthy, active, alert, sitting up on his own, hanging onto his mother ON HIS OWN or THRIVING.
In a nutshell, I was told that Ape Tracker "wants to keep their relationship with the zoos" (an artful way of saying they don't want to stir the pot or bring attention to anything bad/neglect that might be taking place with the care taking methods of these captive primates).
Less "likes" clicked means less $$$.
This channel isn't going to risk the $$$.
So instead of exposing anything that may portray the zoo/caretakers in a negative light, they've chosen not to share anything at all (on the subjects where multiple people are RIGHTFULLY concerned about the animals well being).
The insanely proposterous reason given was:
"To allow Mother & Baby some privacy".

I think we're just being fooled with old videos. In the description you can read that the baby was born on june 14th. This video was posted on december 2nd, which means the baby is now 6 months old. But "THE BABY STILL HAS NO NAME"! This increasingly gives me the impression that @ApeTracker1 is simply a robot, that is only programmed with one sentence : "THANKS FOR WATCHING"!

    • @ApeTracker1
      @ApeTracker1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Please be assured I am not a robot, though I have been called many things 🤣 On a more serious note I visited the Zoo on New Years Eve, hoping for a positive update. I was really disappointed with baby's lack of progress and have therefore taken the decision not to post anymore videos until there is positive progress. I took the time to voice my concerns and the concerns of viewers to the channel to the keeper and to volunteer staff. I will say that I have no expertise on primate development but baby is still feeding and has put on a little weight. This video is from my visit in October. Many thanks 🥰

I am gravely shocked 😲 at the level of neglect this mother is showing towards her baby. By Momma not allowing her baby to cling to her, she's instilling fear 😨 and no sense of security (both physically and mentally) in her baby.
ALL Primate babies have a strong innate desire to cling to Mommy's fur. This provides them the safety and security they need not only for physical reasons but more importantly, mental health. Both baby's hands 🙌 and feet👣 are clinched very tightly. This baby is NOT 🚫 being allowed to cling properly.
By Momma letting her baby get a grip on the rope🪢 and then slowly pull baby off is not 🚫 for strengthening reasons but rather to weaken and loosten her baby's grip. This action is seriously counter productive to baby's growth and development!!! This Mother obviously doesn't feel comfortable when her baby did cling to her so she's keeping her baby at arms length from her chest.
How the staff can be unaware of this fact is way beyond me, considering they are supposed to be properly and thoroughly trained on the species they are going to be taking care of and potential warning ⚠️ signs to be looking for.
One possibility, (of course , I don't know the mother's history), the Mother is doing this could be she didn't receive proper care from her own Mother. Zoo facilities have pulled baby's from their Mothers to hand rear and they absolutely have turned out way better than this poor beautiful baby is right now!!!
All I can do is pray 🙏

If you pay close attention he wasn’t dangling by himself, she had him by her foot the hold time and she led him to her. People chill out. You want to see abused baby monkeys go and watch the ones where video people drug them and the moms littering killing them just to get food and video people get money. That is abuse not this mama. Her and baby are happy. You can see them smiling at times just because you don’t agree with her ways isn’t abuse. Not once has she dropped her baby, you go and take her away and see what happens!!!

We do understand some of the videos are not easy to watch as the zoo's have to strike a balance of providing care with limited interference. 💕😊💕

I know it’s hard to watch. But, he’s six months old now. And, clearly she hasn’t ever dropped him. Generally, keepers don’t want to intervene if at all possible because being raised by your own species is preferable to being raised by a human. I have to believe they are keeping an eye on the situation and will step in if they ever feel they need to.

She’s taking care of him and he hasn’t got hurt, humans just can’t go and take baby because we don’t agree with mother. She’s careful with him and she seems proud of him, if she didn’t want him she would’ve left him first day he was born. Let’s start looking at human mother who don’t take care of their children and and them away. If mom and baby where in the wild we wouldn’t even know this was going on and plus mom might get you if got close to her baby, we don’t know what her reaction would be if they did take it🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
