A lot of content such as vehicles and pedestrians are the actual DMA Design files that were found internally. They have some bugs that we aim to fix. We also aim to have a proper story mode with the beta character models and mission objectives!

GTA III is certainly a flawed game but I couldn't imagine it any other way now. I like it the way it is.
I do like it's dark style a lot too. But I love graphical mods that change it, because they aren't permanent and I can swap back to vanilla if I want. I like seeing games in a different light, but yeah I'm glad that they developed the game with the darker look, suits it.

Personally, I think the mod needs a little bit of shading to it (see 1:57) because otherwise it just looks really flat and bright

It looks like a lego game or some shit.
The video used gameplay set at full brightness. The mod by default has lower brightness (making it look shaded like in the screens). Give it a try! :)

Claude actually had a voice. According to a old asset desc Claude at 17 seconds in said “get out of the car!” The asset desc was from 2001
Blocksworld Entertainment This was debunked by Rockstar in the 2011 GTA 3 Q&A. The voice is from GTA 2 and someone added it to the trailer. They never had intentions to make Claude have a voice.
@@kusipaa The voice was actually officially in the trailer, as evidenced through Rockstar's 2001 press kit, it can be seen in a video titled "Grand Theft Auto 3 (Rockstar games) - E3 2001 Assets" on the 14:14 mark.
Interesting how Claude's shoes went from Adidas Superstar in the Beta To Nike Air Force 1s in the final version

It never occurred to me when seeing all those prerelease screenshots that GTA III really did just look like GTA and GTA 2, but in 3D.
This mod makes that much more clear to me.

Looks like they originally intended to use the visual look of GTA 1 and 2, but later figured it wouldn't work as well from a fully 3D perspective, so a opted for a more gritty, realistic feel.

They did a Gta SA for Xbox 360 remastered, it’s backwards compatible with Xbox One it was like $15 or $5

San Andreas should have a remake in HD universe, but they would have to change some mechanics, invite some of those voice actors from original GTA SA and so on... Maybe even change the story a bit like it was planned at first (e.g. Ryder didn't become our enemy)?

It's already been done......
I love the look of the map in the beta version. Looks very sunny and Portland looked more high-end rather than a lower-end industrial area. The map with final version texture but beta map would definitely give me a GTA IV type vibe.

Now i wish for GTA SA beta mod with PS2 graphics (better sky, physics, biker cops dressing different uniforms in other cities, gangs etc).
Looking at the pictures and comparing to final is...different. It's more like that the pics were taken on PC with better quality instead from PS2.

Ok, I realise that in 2001 the darker tone made it more realistic. The beta looks both better and worse in different areas. Like TF2, the cartoonish style makes it look less aged. That being said, this is just a mod.
Mainly the cartoony look reminds me of Dead Rising 1 for some reason though

@@zex5876 No you clown! There actually is beta clothes, beta house in mulholland, beta walking animation, beta Cesar's mission, beta Truth's mission, beta aiming, crouching animation and beta pedestrians I'm sure there's more going on but I ain't listing that now.
To be frank, I can see why they changed the cartoon-esque graphics. They really don't fit with the dark and grittiness of the game's overall story and atmosphere.
The problem I have with this mod is that there's no bump maps for the textures and such which makes the game feel very plasticky, the lack of shadows and such make it feel weird
Considering this version of GTA 3 was not originally for the PS2 but for a weaker console it makes sense that the textures aren't as good as the final version.
Spoofer Jack is awesome at finding hidden content.

5. Remove some cars
6. Removed the Children in the game
7. Fix the HUD
8. Re-Texture The Vehicles
9. Open Joeys Shop
10. Re-Texture The ocean
11. Use a Different Font
12. Use Some Cut Peds
13. Change the map
14. Remove Darkel
15. Removed 1 mission
16. Change the whole entire interface
17. Added more impressive Particle FX

One of the few ocasions where I am glad the final version changed everything.
Don't get me wrong, it is an impressive mod to recreate what Rockstar was doing with that version of GTA 3 but man, the darker art direction of the final game is my jam.

I saw this mod or something similar being showcased by another GTA TH-cam content creator. I love the cartoonish artstyle of this mod, completely flips the generally dark and gloomy atmosphere of GTA III.

Looks more fun, but beta's are buggy and unfinished, not very fun at all...there is no game, nothing to do much. Some games have cut beta features that were finished, or nearly and sometimes I'm sad they cut them, other times I'm glad they cut them. I hope this mod doesn't make it like a proper empty beta though, if it's just gonna be a graphical overhaul then I'm O.K. with it.
The one thing I would’ve kept from the beta is the LCPD car but I understand why they changed the design...

The beta reminded me a lot of the 3D games I used to play in the early 2000s like Midtown Madness. Seeing those iconic places on GTA 3 again sure brought back a lot of fond memories.
