GTA Vice City Stories was super underrated being last game in 3D universe it introduced so many new features like empires building ,improved melee combat ,new type of weapons and vehicle , the storyline and characters were also well written But being exclusive to PSP/PS2 the graphics has aged very poorly i wish Rockstar games make a proper remaster of this game and Liberty City Stories both of them are forgotten GTA games

yeah sad it came at the end of psp and ps2 life cycle , LCS despite being inferior in features and story was more successful, it sold 8 million copies in PSP alone, the best selling psp game ever, VCS had half of that, just shows what a difference a single year gap 2005-2006 can make!

10 years ago i bought a psp and gta vice city stories to pass my free time while serving in the army. I couldnt believe that im playing a 3d open world game in the palm of my hand. 10 years later, im playing gta v on high graphics on my steam deck...just unbelievable how technology changes...

Yup, those sunsets bring back vivid memories of "Wouldn't It Be Good" by Nik Kershaw or "I'm In Love With a German Film Star" by The Passions blaring on the radio as I sped down the Links Bridge in a Sentinel XS. Great times. 2006 was a fantastic year and this game deserves more love, especially for its soundtrack.
I'd like to correct some moments :) Victor can't swim indefinitely until he completes Beach Patrol missions. Until that he has limited stamina and when he is out of it, Victor will lose his grip on water and will drown like Tommy; Both Tommy and Victor do receive fall damage, but it is substantially decreased compared to GTA 3 or GTA SA; Tommy, while having only one button to commence his attacks, he actually can attack his enemies with different attacks depending on the their direction (for example, Tommy will punch and kick those who in front of him, or headbutt them on his right, or punch with his elbow on his left)

You can climb onto platforms under the bridge to replenish stamina. No. There is other thing that keeps you from swimming across water to "Eastern Vice City" - when you reach a middle point, suddenly a strong current will flush you away back to the place you came from, and it's strong enough to keep you away.
In GTA VCS fighting mechanics, you missed the part when you can grab someone from behind by tapping triangle, and a) relentlessly kicking him with a tap of the circle or b) snap their neck with a tap of the triangle again. That’s how I constantly killed the Mendezes in every mission replay.
Given that Vice City was for Home Consoles and Desktop, and Vice City Stories I Think was for Portable Consoles. the Latter is really quite Impressive for the time
A nice compilation of the features differences but yeah both games has their great things but VCS was way better. One thing that you forgot to mention of the features that has VCS over VC and even ALL the previous GTA games which I absolutely loved was the enhanced side jobs (or "R3 Missions") in which now has checkpoints in the levels (by each 5 levels completed you get a checkpoint) and the Taxi job was fantastic since added a new variety of passengers in which there is the traditional: "Go from point A to point B", but now there are the passengers that asks you for chase a vehicle, escape from the police, help it in a robbery or a double travel (go from point A to point B and then take it to point C).
Most funny than not seeing Tommy swimming and just drowning, is Vice City manual stating that's because sharks attacks. The excuse for Gta III was because the waters of Liberty City were toxic. I just hope that the invisible shark attacks are corrected on GTA VI

I miss playing GTA: Vice City Stories; it was my first GTA game and remains my favorite to this day. I admire Vic Vance's character because he was nice to his friends and family. I still look up to his character because, unlike other psycho characters we see in GTA, he wasn't like that. He was genuinely nice.

2:20 Wrong. Apart from the fact that your version is crearly broken (Tommy CAN kick NPCs on the ground), he has way more fighting animations depending on the direction of the NPCs he's engaging. If they are in his back, Tommy can kick backwards. If they are at his sides, he kicks sideways or elbow stirkes them. If they are in the front sides, he can knee kick or headbutt 'em. This is more easy to see if you move the direction away from the NPCs he's fighting and keep pressing the attack button. Or if Tommy engages a large group of enemies and gets surrounded by them. Get yout facts right before doing my boy Tommy dirty like that :(
By the way, about the fight. if you go from behind and click on the triangle, then Victor Vance will take a stranglehold, and if you click on the triangle again, then Vic will wring his opponent's neck.
vice city is my favorite amongst other gta cities, the ambience, the atmosphere, it just brings me peace. i hope gta 6 will capture that vice city essence even tho it's not the 80's anymore
Bro at least do a fair comparison. You've used PSP version of GTA VCS and PC version of VC. The PS2 version of GTA VCS is a lot better, even better than GTA VC.
VCS was limited by PSP hardware but it still looked good for it's time And Rockstar never bothered to port them to PC Definitive Edition had the advantage of running on modern game engine and more powerful consoles and still performed so poorly with tons of bugs and glitches
GTA VC Stories was better than GTA VC. I played both games on PlayStation 2. GTA VC Stories was newer and it had aspects of GTA San Andreas like swimming, gang wars, better aiming. Even better than GTA San Andreas was: 1. You could keep your weapons after been arrested or been killed by paying a bribe 2. A taxi brought you back to the start of a mission after you've failed 3. You got your money from business every day automatically instead of going back to your house to collect it I wish Rockstar had included GTA VC Stories and GTA LC Stories to the definitive edition because these games were great and never available to other platforms than PSP and PlayStation 2 so it would also have been a much newer experience to many many more gamers

So gta vcs have that best features that totally absent in gta S.A and you can recruit up to 3 gangs for Vic's allies and his allies are more stronger than 7 recruited GSF because they carried Mac-10 and AK--47 that deals alot and more effective on numerous enemies than GSF carried SMG and desert eagle (better for individual enemy) and also 3 Vic's men have better aim than 7 recruited GSF of CJ.
9:35 its not only about the sunsets...look at how much the color of the sky and the sea blends in with the environment in GTA VCS , where in Gta VC it has a more dark - dull appearance! *_GTA Vice City Stories_* definitely wins here. It just has more features compared to *_GTA Vice City._* But I have to admit, *_GTA Vice City_* has better graphics than *_GTA Vice City Stories._* Things that I don't like from *_GTA Vice City Stories_* include the lack of dark cloudy sky when raining/storming, some of the vehicles' designs are awful, enemies in cars are very OP since they drive so aggresively and their drive-by shooting is extremely deadly (especially when they drive-by with MP5s).
My biggest gripe of VCS is lack of safehouses that the player either buys or gets through completing missions. It doesn't feel like you end up with as much at the end of the game, aside from the Empire buildings - and once you do all those Empire missions, the game is essentially finished after that because even the gangs stop attacking eventually. Not as much replay value imo
This video misguides people. There is fall damage. I used to jump from heights and lose health. Tommy can kick people on the ground but you need to aim the body not the sky. He lowers the plane to make it look like the map forces the plane but it doesn't work like that. It reverses itself like in vc stories. 04:25 never happened to me either.

I have played both vice city and vice city stories, but according to me Gta Vice city stories is much better than vice city because of Graphics ❤❤❤ and of course Tommy can't swim but victor vance can swim
I miss playing GTA: Vice City Stories; it was my first GTA game and remains my favorite to this day. I admire Vic Vance's character because he was nice to his friends and family. I still look up to his character because, unlike other psycho characters we see in GTA, he wasn't like that. He was genuinely nice.

2:20 Wrong. Apart from the fact that your version is crearly broken (Tommy CAN kick NPCs on the ground), he has way more fighting animations depending on the direction of the NPCs he's engaging. If they are in his back, Tommy can kick backwards. If they are at his sides, he kicks sideways or elbow stirkes them. If they are in the front sides, he can knee kick or headbutt 'em. This is more easy to see if you move the direction away from the NPCs he's fighting and keep pressing the attack button. Or if Tommy engages a large group of enemies and gets surrounded by them.
Get yout facts right before doing my boy Tommy dirty like that :(

By the way, about the fight. if you go from behind and click on the triangle, then Victor Vance will take a stranglehold, and if you click on the triangle again, then Vic will wring his opponent's neck.

vice city is my favorite amongst other gta cities, the ambience, the atmosphere, it just brings me peace. i hope gta 6 will capture that vice city essence even tho it's not the 80's anymore

VCS was limited by PSP hardware but it still looked good for it's time
And Rockstar never bothered to port them to PC
Definitive Edition had the advantage of running on modern game engine and more powerful consoles and still performed so poorly with tons of bugs and glitches
Gta Vice city has an unique & exclusive sunset in the ps2 version of the game.
GTA VC Stories was better than GTA VC. I played both games on PlayStation 2. GTA VC Stories was newer and it had aspects of GTA San Andreas like swimming, gang wars, better aiming.
Even better than GTA San Andreas was:
1. You could keep your weapons after been arrested or been killed by paying a bribe
2. A taxi brought you back to the start of a mission after you've failed
3. You got your money from business every day automatically instead of going back to your house to collect it
I wish Rockstar had included GTA VC Stories and GTA LC Stories to the definitive edition because these games were great and never available to other platforms than PSP and PlayStation 2 so it would also have been a much newer experience to many many more gamers
you can do that in SA too but you kids probably can't finish it, in SA if you date Barbara a cop and Katie a nurse you don't lose weapons when arrested or wasted again (also get special cop and paramedic outfits),
you have trip skip and final mission has check points and taxi is old feature even og vc had, you get money when you finish assets it SA likeair field, zero's rc shop, the car show room and also your house after winning gang wars
also VCS you can't even crouch, and SA introduced grappling and different move sets by beating gym masters (ls boxing, lv mma and sf kung fu) and had the knife stealth, also VCS you can't dive under water, SA you could buy more properties store special cars in garages, you definitely didn't finish it.

So gta vcs have that best features that totally absent in gta S.A and you can recruit up to 3 gangs for Vic's allies and his allies are more stronger than 7 recruited GSF because they carried Mac-10 and AK--47 that deals alot and more effective on numerous enemies than GSF carried SMG and desert eagle (better for individual enemy) and also 3 Vic's men have better aim than 7 recruited GSF of CJ.

Things that I don't like from *_GTA Vice City Stories_* include the lack of dark cloudy sky when raining/storming, some of the vehicles' designs are awful, enemies in cars are very OP since they drive so aggresively and their drive-by shooting is extremely deadly (especially when they drive-by with MP5s).
I agree with that last part. What were Rockstar thinking by making drive by enemies so OP and fast only in this game?

My biggest gripe of VCS is lack of safehouses that the player either buys or gets through completing missions. It doesn't feel like you end up with as much at the end of the game, aside from the Empire buildings - and once you do all those Empire missions, the game is essentially finished after that because even the gangs stop attacking eventually. Not as much replay value imo

In the fighting part, you forgot where Vic can snap necks. Best feature in the game and convenient to eliminate targets
This video misguides people. There is fall damage. I used to jump from heights and lose health. Tommy can kick people on the ground but you need to aim the body not the sky. He lowers the plane to make it look like the map forces the plane but it doesn't work like that. It reverses itself like in vc stories. 04:25 never happened to me either.
